Don't know too much about Rocky Anderson cause I don't live in Utah.
What I do know is that he has this right....If a new political party is the only
way to take our country back from the big corporate money that's running it
now, then let's do it. All of you who are bashing Rocky.....are you
content that big corporate money is running both the Democratic & Republican
parties? Sounds like you are. Well, I'm not and neither are millions of
others. The Dems & Reps are both the same now....controlled by big money.
Voting out the bad guys won't help cause there will always be another bad
guy to take his place.
Re: Steve_I_Am | 1:15 p.m. Aug. 15, 2011 Ross Anderson bought into
the Obama bandwagon hype and only now is finding out Obama can't deliver. The
Palestinians could have told him that a year ago. Obama is foundering and his
falling approval rating is the proof.
Thank you for telling it like it is Rocky!
What took Rocky so long? The Democratic and Republican parties have been
cesspools for decades.
I've gotta tell you, it's been absolutely surreal reading the comments by
conservatives on this thread. Conservatives are becoming more and more divorced
from reality daily. I mean in the Republican debate when all
hands went up when asked if they would turn down a deficit reduction plan that
was 10:1 cuts to tax increases. These clowns are so beholden to Grover Norquist
that they wouldn't even increase taxes one dollar for every ten dollars of
budget cuts. With leaders like this it should be no surprise
that a conservative on this thread makes the claim that this is a conservative
world, not a liberal one (whatever that means) or that another would be so ill
informed as to claim President Bush had a Democrat congress for most of
his administration. No wonder we have the Republican and Tea
Party candidates in office that we do, with these guys voting.
A hero. Keep swinging, Rocky!
When will you people remember that pres. Bush worked an up hill battle with a
Democrat House and Senate for most of his administration. Grow up and take the
heat without blaming someone who had little control over a bunch of salivating
Democrats. Just get rid of ALL OF THEM in Washington, start over and listen to
We the People.
Now if we could just get Rocky to say good bye to Utah and the US!
I can see Rocky's mind working. He gets the letter from the DCCC and instead of
throwing it in the trash, as the rest of us do, he thinks..."hmmm, can I get some mileage out of this?" "Maybe
my picture in both papers?" So he dashes off a terse email to
the DCCC and then calls the newspapers (and I'll bet local TV stations)to inform
them and us of his brave position.Rocky, heads up! Get a real job.
I finally agree with Rocky on one thing...The dems and the pubs are both corrupt
as all get out. Although Rocky thinks the two parties are not progressive
enough, and I think they are too progressive. Stay tuned for riots in the
streets. Just the way Rocky and Obama planned.
Losing this man from the party is like losing a cancerous tumor from your
body.If only there were some sort of political radiation or chemo
therapy that would stop any of his malignant remnants from ever coming back!
Anderson's complaining about the equivalent of a law of the universe. Every
Democrat who actually gets elected to a serious office, always fails to live up
to his left-wing rhetoric. The inconvenient realities of actually having to
*govern,* get in the way. Liberals never govern as liberally as
they campaign, because the universe isn't liberal. The facts of life are
conservative, as people find out when they try to *do*, rather than merely
Wow, for once I agree with Rocky Anderson. The Democratic party is inept and
bad for America.
If only we could bid good riddance to Rocky ...
I have two suggestions for a new party name Rocky, Socialist or Communist, I
think both of those would sound good with your platform. Really SLC, you guys
voted this guy in?
Does anyone honestly care what this guy does or doesn't do? His past antics
speak for themselves. He cost us a fortune on the Legacy Highway with his
ridiculous kindergarten argument that it would "harm wildlife" (have
you noticed the bodies of all the birds and animals who have committed suicide
since we built it along the road as you drive it?) and made a complete fool of
himself on the national scene (see debate with Sean Hannity). He is about as
irrelevant as Bob Bennett these days, if that is possible.
This is FANTASTIC news! Go Rocky! You show 'em (whoever 'they' are)! Gather
in your fellow circus performers and set up a big tent in some obscure corner of
Rocky Anderson is no leftist than was Franklin D. Roosevelt. The truth is that
many Utahns have become such rightwing extremists that Rocky seems more leftist
than he really is. Some of you are inacurately depicting him as some kind of
communist. You are wrong, but some of also you think the same of Dwight
Eisenhower. Roosevelt said that he "welcomed the hatred" of the right
wing idealogs and the oligarchs. Rocky should feel the same way.Right wing is currently putting the country at risk economically. Their
lastest attempt was to sell the notion that it would be okay for America to
default on its debt. Unbelievable. But Rocky is also correct that the Democrats
are increasingly part of the problem, as controlled by the wealthy and
corporations as Rupublicans. I welcome a new party that would carry the message
of the progressives, not one of bigger government but of better government,
operating under the philosophy that government should seek to protect the rights
of all its citizens not just the wealthy and powerfull, and fight against the
bought and paid for polititians that sadly now dominate our public discourse.
Rocky Anderson is simply another innovation killing business hater that would
run this country into the ground with his hatred toward those who actually
create jobs, food, shelter, medicine, medical care and every other useful thing
in this world. He and his ilk have never created any significant number of jobs
or useful products or services. I am sure the Democrats won't loose any sleep
over this guy leaving the party. In fact, they may just celebrate.
Seems to me that these ideas expressed by Rocky have hit a memorable note based
upon the number of responses.Seems to me that even though he has
been out of politics he still can call a spade a spade. Whoever wrote the
article should have delved deeper to see what actions Rocky had in mind to fix
federal issues. Neither party has in mind a way to fix things they
are just in it to get elected.Rocky has not been a favorite of mine
but he whopped the nail on the head this time
WHY.....is this news? Haven't had any Ross media time lately? My
district is 85% independent, now we have this clown wanting to join our
political party. I guess it's time for me to join another, different one.Could you just stick to the news, DesNews, please, and QUIT pandering to
this guy's whims or I will cancel my subscription to your newspaper! Comedy
belongs in the C-Section, not the front page of the B-Section. Satire isn't
news. Isn't it ironic a member of the First Presidency and Ross Anderson appear
on the front page of the B-Section and Rocky gets the major headline? (What a
rag this paper has turned into lately.)
He need to start the "me rocky me" party.
It is funny that the very thing that he hates in politics and would like to see
is the same thing that the Tea Party has accomplished, yet he hates them! Just
because they have a view that varies from his, they are the nuts, when we all
step back and view things we see who really is the nut job. Thanks
Rocky for validating the Tea Party.
I can't blame him for getting away from the Democrate Party, but the Democrat
Party is probably relieved. What a nut job.
Rocky will always lean to the left!!! Democrat or not, he's one weird wacko!!
I agree with Rocky that neither political party (Dems/Repb) is worthy of the
vote of the Ameriaan people. It is time for a third party with an organized
charter and commintment to the United States and all it stands for. It stand for
freedom, not self interest or free enterprise bigots. Free
enterprise is what our freedoms allow, free enterprise does not give us our
freedoms.I have always supported Rocky Anderson as he was railroaded
out of politics. He is one of the very few political figures in Utah that have a
spine and this action only reinforces that quality about him. We need a nation
of right wing and left wing radicals to keep us in balance and government from
becoming our oppressor. We have become an oppressed socialist society of
spineless wimps. The defining of an american and a people of other
nations (illegal aliens in the USA) is that Americans would rather give to their
country and die for their country rather than be a socialist benefactor of
welfare. We give, we don't take.
Rocky has finally seen the light !
Gee, the democratic party never sounded so good to me.
That's interesting TRUTH (where do you guys come up with these names? Do you
really think if you call yourself that people will believe that what you are
saying is the truth?Anyway) because the polls show Obama beating every single
Republican running. Don't know what poll you are referring to that
says democrats are running to the republicans. Where did you get that idea?
Think he will join the new tea party? LOL. Rocky is for everything that the
Mormons are not. If a mormon likes it, he doesn't. To tell the truth, Rocky is a
has-been. Let him go, he is gone. Get over him.
Mark.....and polls also show Obama is tanking and democrats are running to the
GOP next election........Safe to say all those liberals ideas are also tanking
From the 50 years that I have been watching both Republicans and the Democrats,
I have felt that most often the Democrats have acted for the best good of
America. But for the last two years I have seen Obama and the Democrats turn
tail and run from the Republicans and big business. Now they (Democrats) have
decided to support big business even though one every six months the deomcrats
viove a desention with the Republicans. We do need a new politicla part that
will stand up for America's values each and every time. I also wished that
Republicans cared about America for real, but they refuse to. Their ideals are
being bought and sold every minute of every day. I agree with Mr. Rocky
Rifleman, I don't know if you are one of those that believe polls are a vast
conspiracy, but if not take a look at them. The majority usually support more
progressive ideas. Such as on abortion, taxes on the rich, social programs such
as social security and Medicare, homosexual issues, regulations, the size of
government. Polls show strong support for progressive ideas. DN
subscriber, I don't know about Venezuela, but Iran is an extremely conservative
country, hardly the type of place a liberal ACLU lawyer would feel comfortable.
I bet every Utah dem is celebrating the departure of one their greatest
@Jonathan Eddy, I understand your position, but the downside is that you have no
say regarding who the candidates will be. A registered party member can still
vote for people in the other party and needn't feel "unclean" or
guilty for doing so. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
Well, that's a step in the right direction. (Or maybe its actually the LEFT
direction!)I would love to wake up to read that Mr. Anderson also
renounced his U.S. citizenship and moved out of Utah. Perhaps Venezuela, or
Iran would be more to his liking.
Personally, I have felt like Ross "Rocky" Anderson has been one of the
dark spots of the Democratic Party for years. He is a left wing extremist much
like Mike Lee and Chaffetz are right wing extremists. The problems we
have today are caused by the extreme right and the extreme left. Both sides
being literally selfish and stupid in their goals and decisions. It's time the Republican and Democrat majority take back their parties and run
this state and nations for the people and not for the politician.
We can only hope that some day someone's point of view will be superior enough
to match Rocky's.
It sure feels good to be a non party independent. I can exit the voting booth
without feeling a little unclean and I can sleep peacefully knowing that my
conscience is my guide.
Re: mark | 1:42 p.m. Aug. 12, 2011 "The American people do not want
what the Republicans are shoveling"Who do you think it was that
elected the Tea Party conservative Republicans? Actually we do want what the
Republicans have been force feeding the Democrats. With no one in the White
House to say 'no' the Republicans have the green flag to press forward.
Probably why Ross Anderson told the Democrats goodbye.
Rocky, you still haven't validated your existence with me either.
Maybe Rocky (errr Ross, the real name for the phony Rocky) should form the
"I Love Attention" party and run for president. Del Schanze could be
his running mate.
Wow, if Pelosi, Obama and the rest of the far left Dems aren't liberal enough
for Rocky, there's always the party with the hammer & sickle...
You go Rocky! Let 'em have it!Of course, clearly, the Republicans
are far, far worse. But maybe the Democrats will wake up and stop being
steamrolled by the conservatives, someday. The American people do not want what
the Republicans are shoveling, and the Democrats need to capitalize on that,
they need to stand up and not be afraid to push a progressive agenda, it is what
the people want. The problem, though, is that the Republicans
are so much better at campaigning then the Democrats. They are able to stir up
their base, and other voters, with fear. It's what they excel at, scaring
people. That and dirty tricks, they are masters of the nasty campaign tactic.
Republicans have made an art form out of slinging mud, talking out of both sides
of their mouths, and getting people to believe absolute nonsense. The Republicans have convinced many people that to be dumb, uneducated, and
illiterate is a virtue. Conservatives have a hissy fit about the elite, while at
the same time extolling what they see as the near divinity of the
"Founders", arguably the most elite, well educated group ever
assembled in one room. Good work, Rocky!
"You didn't do it on Iraq; you didn't do it on torture; you
didn't do it on signing statements; you haven't done it on Afghanistan;
you haven't done it on defense spending; you haven't done it on real
health care reform; you haven't done it on energy policy and the climate
crisis; you haven't done it on the evisceration of our system of checks
and balances through the invocation of the state secrets doctrine; and you
haven't done it on the debt ceiling fiasco."================
Rocky - I 100% agree with you!That's why I'm neither
Republican NOR Democrat. The Democrats SAY they are against the Republicans
regarding all those things [and I agree with them] - yet they have continued
with all the Bush Co. Doctrines. There are sins of commission and
sins of omission. The GOP commits sins of Commision by starting Blood
Wars for Oil and catering to the uber-Wealthy and Corporations, while the
Democrats commit sins of Ommission by not doing enough to stop them.
Ross Anderson was a lawyer for the ACLU. Every time I see the Main Street Plaza
and the Main Street Pedestrian Bridge I think of Ross Anderson and how much he
hated them. Hopefully the Democratic Party won't miss him any more than the
rest of us did.
Rocky just wasn't getting enough attention.
Mr. Irrelevant speaks again. Like a bad cold that just won't go away.
ross is just acting out. ross, let's have a time out for the next 10 years and
then you can resurface. does anyone really care about this guy? glad slc
residents voted him in twice. that says something about slc citizens, and that
something is not good. he's always been a joke
