I just read that article about Utah leaving and good riddance to BYU, and not once in the article does it say that, just some bitter guy from UNLV bashing on Utah and BYU.

tomorrow will be known as "black Friday" going forward.

Utehaterforlife: The first line of the article says, "It's time to say goodbye to Utah and good riddance to BYU" And I agree just a UNLV homer bashing sour grapes.

Starfarer

It wouldn't matter to me one bit if BYU never played utah again.

Goodbye MWC.

I wish it was goodbye to utah as well.

Now if we could just get the trolls off our articles.

You are correct, Utehaterforlife. That article does not say that... except in the first sentence:

LAS VEGAS - It's time to say goodbye to Utah and good riddance to BYU.

Must be the alternate reality of UteHaterNation that caused you not to notice that.

Why so pessimistic? I think your team has a good chance to be successful in PAC right away. I guess I'm give them more of a chance than you are. Or did you mean to say "Blank Saturday's" because that is what you'll find when you try to find your teams game on your TV each Saturday? No need to worry. There will be plenty of good football on the ESPN channels for you to watch nearly every week.

Its just a bitter UNLV blogger who doesn't have anything else to do, and is it Ute hater or Ute fan that is a hater for life?

Both BYU and Utah took the deals they had and should not look back. Both deals are better than the disasterous MWC/mountain debacle. Also both are much better financially and from an exposure standpoint. However, that said do not be too quick to compare them beyond that. BYU was left at the alter by every conference in the west and midwest and desperate to do something that could give the impression that they too were moving forward as had Utah. So they took the best of the bad decisions remaining. Just watch the press and buzz over the next year. Utah is like the national bestseller with all the hype and press and they show up like George Bush and have lines around the block for booksignings. BYU in comparison will live on self-hype and continue to have to force themselves to be in front of the public. This year will be the toughest with a schedule that does not sport a top 20 team and has half their schedule against teams ranked below 100. The schedule is a disaster and once they lose they are done. This schedule WILL NOT allow them a BCS berth if undefeated.

This Ute wishes the rest of the MWC the very best moving forward. It was a great conference to be a part of, many road trips & fond memories. It may be a long shot, but I hope they achieve BCS AQ status. They deserve it.

@CRB

The schedule is just as good if not better than the schedules Utah, Boise St, TCU and Hawaii had when each of them made a BCS bowl by going undefeated.

@Parry

The actual article that is linked is equally about BYU and Utah - no trolling necessary.

That first link was to a poorly organized and poorly written article. The majority of comments on these boards are better articulated than that article.

That being said, I wish the MWC the best. Since Fresno State is joining them, I will still sort of be following them. But I am so excited for Utah to be going to the Pac. I'm happy for you guys and am looking forward to Kyle rising to that challenge and your new coach (hopefully) rebuilding your basketball program back to where it once was. I am also excited to be able to watch my Cougars every week and to see them play teams we don't usually get to meet. I'm also excited to see Dave Rose get the national attention he deserves.

This is a great move for both schools and I wish both teams the best of luck. Go Cougars! Go Utes!

Teddy Bear,

Yes, the linked article is about BYU and Utah equally - I read it. But the article that Starfarer linked his (or her) comment to is this one (which is the "Red Roundup"). The "Red Roundup" is a recuring article that links to other articles about University of Utah athletics. His comment as a BYU fan is in an article about U of U athletics and then he accuses Utah fans of being trolls. I even went in and looked to see if the D-News linked to that same article from a "Blue Roundup" page before I posted, but then I realized that he commented on the "Red Roundup" article.

Thanks for trying to correct me, but no correction needed. You obviously missed the irony in the entire thing.

easy easy there buddy, the article is posted on both BYU and Utah links.

It does say BYU in the article Heading,

For any NEW scheduling, BYU would be smart to never schedule a game at the other team's place in one-for-ones when setting up games against former MWC teams. Doing so would only solidify BYU as a non-AQ.

BYU now needs to act like an AQ team by scheduling MWC, WAC, and other non-AQ conference teams in either 2-for-1 (2 at BYU) or ONLY-at-BYU games.

I bet they'll not have any problems pulling that off with as many BCS teams that want to play the Cougars, which will fill out most of BYU's schedule each year after 2012, thus only allowing for 3-4 non-AQ games per year.

I Still Can't Say It
Holladay, UT

Most sports fans don't particularly care for BYU around the nation, and the article from the guy in Vegas proves it. I have a theory about the ESPN deal -- TV executives know people will watch just to see BYU lose and that's how the Cougars got the contract.

Unlike BYU, MWC fans are proud of the Utes and wish them well on the PAC.

You started well, but drifted, friend. ESPN is not self hype, and after decrying the soft BYU schedule, talking about the first loss is kinda mixed signals.

The "good riddance" article pretty much sounded more like "thank goodness."

Your comment is probably the classiest comment I've read on Des News regarding the MWC. I just wish the other Ute and Cougar fans weren't so bitter and resentful of the MWC. Really just move on with it...both schools have a bright future ahead so stop looking back.

"I still can't say it"

Your U education really showing through, especially your business savvy, on TV contracts but I suppose you're one of those types that thinks a mediocre MWC football history equates to instant success in the Pac 10.2.

Do you have batteries for your AM radio?
