To inform the uninformed, there are players on NFL rosters whose sole duty is long snapping, and I'm pretty sure they get paid more than trolls.

Provo, UT

Utah is set to break the world record in 3 and outs this year. Utah's deep snapper will be paying more football than Jordan Wynn. I just hope Wynn makes it to the BYU game, so Jordan Pendelton can have some Dead Duck hunting Practice.

"Huge pickup cougars!

No doubt you're inching closer and closer to a BCS game"

Chris your'e finally correct on something. BYU will play a BCS bowl game before the Utes will. I'll mark your words.

This kid is the real deal. Not your typical DS, 6'3, 255 lbs. He is ranked 3rd in the country and if you saw his PAT/Field goal snaps you would know why...NFL fast!

I hate to burst your bubble Y fans, but when you're losing to teams like Utah State, it's not your long-snapper that's keeping you from going to a BCS game.

On that subject, you guys sure talk a lot about what it takes to get to a BCS game considering none of you know anything about it.

"He is ranked 3rd in the country and if you saw his PAT/Field goal snaps you would know why...NFL fast!"

Wow! ranked 3rd in the country? Surely he must have some big time offers from some big time programs like USC or Alabama ect.... no? no one? hmmmm.

Hopefully the offense runs so well that we don't need a deep snap to a punter. Still need to snap it good to the kick holder, Nothing worse than seeing a hike sail over the head of the punter (my son was a punter) or so short he has to bend over to field it thus disrupting the timing of the punt. Glad to see another quality recruit to play these specialty positions.

Obviously I was joking.

A good long snapper can make a difference in any game just like any position. It may not be an exciting position to talk about, but they are like kickers and punters in that they are the type of players that can change a game in 1 play.

Exactly. So what does that say about the U of U?

Why would Doman go after CB's, he is the offensive coordinator not the defensive.

Aren't you the same guy who talked up a whole storm about four and five star recruits? Didn't you poke a whole lot of fun at BYU for not getting any?

What is 3rd in the country? How many stars does he get? 5 stars for being in the top three?

So which is it? Stars mean something, or do they mean nothing, but 3rd in the country doesn't, or does it? Or now is it that he didn't receive offers from USC? Why would he go to USC? They can't play in a bowl game for a while and maybe didn't need him. (Like USC is relevant right now)

See when you just hate something, and your only goal is to tear it down, you start slipping on logic, and don't realize that your previous comments condemn your current ones.

It's better if you just stay quiet, the adults are having a conversation.

Honor code equals no BCS games.

End of story.

What's the value of a long snapper? I played as a long snapper and had a chance to play for the Y, except for too many broken nose and ankles. Back in the 60's you couldn't play if you had broken any part of your body more than twice, my nose 6 times. But the year I would have played we lost 3 games because of bad snaps--Wyo & Colo State--can't remember the 3rd.

Also Jerry Jones of the Dallas Cowboys thinks it's important enough that the years he won the Super Bowls he was paying a long snapper over $250,000 just to snap. The Y did good to recurit a young man with that skill. If you think not, try putting your head between your legs, throwing a ball 15 to 17 yards with accurace-- knowing when you come up some 300 lb is going to knock your head off!!! You may think alittle different about this scholarship.

My logic is sound. The kid had no real offers and most likely nothing was coming from any BCS program. If Doman had a better handle on the recruiting thing he would have held off and offerd him a walk on. He blew a scholly on a kid he could have had for free.

He's new at the coaching thing...hopefully he learns from his mistakes.

Why am I not reading about any Ute commits? Cougs are up to 12 or 13. Does Utah have any?

Welcome to Cougar County Donovan. As I'm sure you know, the future is very bright and keeps getting brighter by the day with outstanding commits like yourself.

I'm surprised that more people aren't talking about the arrival of Adam Hine this year. We've waited along time for this kid. It will be interesting to see if he redshirts with three solid starters already projected for RB in 2011.

Hine will be one of the top five RB's the Cougars have had. I can't wait to see Hine and Quezada in the back field coached by DuPaix.

Not taking anything away from Langi, but if I had the choice between Hine and Langi - Hine would be my guy. He's one more piece of the puzzle as we continue to build an outstanding team for the foreseeable future.

If a deep snapper gives value to the team, than the honest thing to do is give him a scholly. This is why some people struggle with the honor code. What's more important?---National Championships or honesty? Unlike Chris B, I feel honorable teams can win.

Murray, UT

Certainly not the most exciting position in football but still an important position. One bad snap on a punt or fg can quickly change the momentium or outcome of a game. A good and smart decision by BYU to secure a very good long snapper for the future.

Providence, UT

Good get by the Cougs. Special teams can win or lose games.

I just can't believe I saw the phrase "national championship" mentioned on an article about a long snapper. Not even saying they can't can't get there but really Alpine Coug? Let's see them at least win 8-9 games before we come out with the "potential run at a NC and BCS" card.

At least when I say USU has a good chance to knock off BYU this year there is recent history to back it up.

Frisco, TX

USU has no chance of knocking off BYU. If you're looking for history to support your claim, it will be 17 more years before the Aggies beat BYU again.
