The reported news from Jon Wilner out of the Bay Area just keeps getting bigger and better all the time. Now we learn that the PAC 12 will create its own media company and has plans to go global specifically to the Pacific Rim nations. I was mocked by BYU fans a while back when I quoted a study by a University in China that ranks universities worldwide. The Academic Ranking of World Universities ranks Utah at No. 47 nationally and No. 80 in the world for overall academic excellence. The China university report focuses on the number of scientific publications and Nobel/Fields awards. The comments were who cares about a univerity in China?
Now along comes Wilner's report that the new PAC 12 media company will focus its efforts in Japan, China, South Korea and India on distributing the olympic sports and educational programming showcasing what PAC 12 schools are doing in terms of scientific research. Sounds like that academic ranking by a university in China will be of some influence and interest for those tuning in to the broadcasts. Being ranked number 80 in the world will give credence to the work done at the U.
Maybe BYUtv and ESPN can make some room to air pac10.2 games...naaaa!
Y4LYFE , naaaa is right, and you're not talking ESPN, youre talking about ESPN 3 and ESPNU if you're talking about where BYU is typically going to be seen along with some Div II schools and the Sun Belt Conference games. And BYUTV, we all know what a money maker that one is going to be. Just to educate you, there is no such thing as the PAC 10.2 only a Major AQ conference called the PAC 12 which the University of Utah belongs to.
