Kyle Collingsworth played a great game with 15 boards, he is really a 2 guard...Jimmer didn't drive inside with the kind of push and go he should have, hesitated a lot...Jackson just faded out, think the Cougs were just burned out, tired of winning? Seemed like it for the two senior guards.
Fredette about it.
Live and Die by the Jimmer. Way too many early shots near the end of regulation. But man that 35 footer looked sweet.
UMMM WHere is everyone? 6 points in OT WOW Meltdown
It's a tough loss with so many mistakes by all the players (and even the coach.) BYU could have beat this team, but it didn't happen and at this point there's not much to learn, only look back and appreciate all the things they did right over the entire season.
Goodbye Jimmer, Jackson, and Logan. It's been a fun ride!
Crowntown: how many points did the Utes score in overtime tonight?
Oh, yeah.
There is no shame in Cougar Town. But in Ute-ville...everybody's singing Boo Hoo!
@ crowntown
Everyone was in New Orleans....where were you? Sometimes you just run out of gas. Had did SDSU do? Oh, same result in regulation, right? And the Big East had 11 teqams in the tournament with only two reaching the sweet 16. That's why they call it March Madness. Too bad the Cougars had to get a technical to make a point that the officials were just letting the big boys beat them to a pulp. But they should be used to that by now.....ever since they announced they were going independent everyone's had it out for them. And they handled it pretty well, too, I believe. It was a great season so if just one more basket was had in regulation Florida would have gone home. Give the Gators credit, they didn't want to be embarrassed in OT two years in a row to up-start Brigham Young. I wish it had turned out differently, but that's why you play them. Great Season...Cougars!!
Jimmer had cotton mouth the first half, and a cramp. Makes me wonder if the humidity got to him. Humidity can take it out of cold weather folks the way elevation takes it out of sea levelers. I'd have stuck him with an IV at the half...
Anyway, great season, Cougars. Thanks for the good times. Good wins, good players, good coaches who are all good people. I wish there were more good sports in the world like this group.
NevadaCoug, how sure are you that crowntown1 is a Ute fan? Not every BYU hater cheers for the U. This little info may help you avoid going all Max Hall in your future posts.
Florida was red hot against the 2-3 zone and shot the lights out. BYU seemed to run out of gas playing man against their size. Florida played Jimmer tough and tried to shut down the other guys and it seems to have worked. I think Jimmer lost his cool in the OT and at other points in the game.
Fact is that Florida was bigger inside and with Chris Collinsworth and Davies out, it was tough. But if Kyle had hit that 2nd free throw, they might have won. Alas, he didn't and Florida owned the overtime.
Great year and I'll miss this team - the best BYU team in 30 years.
