trash talking after the game.Classy.
@fresnogirl, that top 10 is gone after tonight. I would guess that the Y will

Guys if the other boys can get Jimmer 40 shots we will win!! yea utefan Jimmer
was fouled at least 20 times the refs robbed us again!!

Hey folks, nothing to hang your heads about. You beat them 2 out of 3 times and
you beat NM! Not half bad and wasn't it great to watch Jimmer play all season?
He is a special man and player and we get to see the Cougars in the big dance
going in 30 and 4! Like I said, not bad by a long shot!
My thanks to Coach Rose, his staff, and the entire BYU basketball team for a
great season! Thirty wins and a co-conference championship, with a high ranking
RPI and SOS to go along with it. Congrats to the Aztecs! They were just too good
today. Now it's on to the NCAA tournament. I hope the MWC makes a good showing.
Good luck to UNLV and SDSU. Go Cougars!!!

I am not usually a sports fan but I have been following this team the last few
games. I am sorry that they lost, but they got futher then a lot of the other

the article when it says that the team will be "at large" ?
@ hedgehogCongratulations on the utes making it in for gymnastics, I
can see your red pride lighting up the town of Ann Harbor. Glad you have one
sport to cheer about on a regular basis.
"Quick, name the school who just won the women's MWC tournament"playing the female baller card? seriously? that's all ya got?lame.

atl134Yeah ... I'm sure you've been watching your women's team all
season. SURE you have.
yea fresnogirl we got a number 5 seed at least and final 4 soon!!
Wait a sec. We care about women's basketball now?The season is far from
over. A good week of rest and a new season begins (for some teams). I doubt
they'll drop to a 6-8 seed. They still have a top ten rpi and a good sos. I am
looking forward to see what they can do. Good luck Cougs.BTW, I couldn't
watch it tonight, but heard the other way around, that SDSU was talking smack.
But like I said, I didn't get the game. It would surprise me if Jimmer would be
talking trash when down by 20.
Hey Fresnogirl Hope your getting prepared for yet another letdown. Enjoy!
Watching the players, including Fredette, as they warmed up before the game, it
sure looked like they were not up for this game.Maybe they were
tired. Maybe they were putting too much stock in their two previous wins over
SDSU. Maybe they believed the press reports on the great win the night before.
byu played hard but they do not have a balanced team like sdsu. jimmer is theonly great player- the rest are so-so Jimmer will be gone after the ncaa the
rest of the team is only aveage players
No doubt all the partisans in Salt Lake are delighted that the Cougars lost.
But, don't forget, it's pretty difficult to beat the same team three times in a
season. Just ask New Mexico about that. And while you're boasting, how did the
mighty Utes do against SDSU....didn't they have a whopping 15 points in the
first half? If I had a coach like you had, with such great success, I don't
know what I'd do....except maybe fire him. Get used to not going past the first
round of the conference tournament when you play in the PAC12. The only reason
they invited Colorado and Utah is they wanted two guaranteed wins in basketball
and football every season. Again, what seed is Utah projected to get in March
Madness? Remind me, please, because they're not on my radar. And they don't
need to worry about even playing 2 tourament games in 2 days, let alone 3,
because they were 1/2 of 1 and done. Sorry, it's TRUE.
hedgehog | 11:20 a.m. Feb. 26, 2011 "Just to let you know how
confindent I am in a kewgar loss today. I will stop any and all posts on tds

meaningful as your word?
I have been a Running Utes fan for many years. I got bored with the Jim Boylen
years. The man could not recruit or coach very well. Jimmer is awesome. I
think he needs to focus on his game and his team and not the refs or their
calls. Players like Ray Allen and John Stockton were able to succeed more and
become more respected by doing so. I really like Jimmer and I have become
a fan. I think if he does this he will be the best he can be. Hope the
Utes can get a coach and hope the best for Jimmer.Rock on!
Different year same story for BYU.Can't win the big one...
@fresnogirlAdmittedly I haven't, but I haven't watched the men's
team all season either.Anyway SDSU and BYU are both very good teams.
I imagine SDSU will be a 2 seed and BYU will probably be 4th seed (though ranked
approximately 11th I expect some level of east coast bias or maybe scheduling
issues for sunday games). Also while it's amusing to poke fun at each other,
honestly... rivalries are more fun when the other team is a good team (yes, yes
I know we're not holding up our end of that bargain right now...).
One billion Chinese people don't care!
yea u utes think ur so high and mighty thinking ur going to the pacworst we
never even wanted to ever go there!!
BYU Fans,Everyone stop being so angry and just be happy that you had
a good season. You don't need to be so sensitive about losing a game. Now, I will understand if you want to feel angry and sensitive when you
lose your first round game this week.I'm proud to be a BYU Grad, but
very embarrassed for, and glad not to be a fan.
we kno have BYU TV and our state of the art sponerhhip!
Loved it! Well done SDSU. This team got exposed, hard. I'm guess tds falls to
a #4 seed. TDS fans will cry about getting picked on.A matchup with
a #13 who will in all likelihood be more athletic and in all reality a better
team will be quite exciting.I'm betting the house on the #13.One NCAA win in 20 years. Amazing. See ya again in 2030.P.S. Thanks for the coach. Things are looking ROSEy on the hill.
Apparently it's a done deal, will be announced after a quick one and done next

soory i meant we now have our 60 million BYU TV homes for exposure!!
Big thank yous to our hill family for stopping by to wish the Cougars well in

Chin up Cougs. Nobody even predicted you'd be playing for the tourney
championship anyway. Get ready for the NCAA's. You're going to add to your 30

guys are great. Good luck in the Tourney.

go cougs and sdsu both 2 seeds hedgie
Ahh. What a great day. Worked out. Took a dip in my pool. Hamburgers on the
grill. But the highlight was watching BYU get exposed! Perfect day.
Seriously, BYU looked horrible out there. Some of those shots Jimmer put up
were ridiculous. Looked like church ball to me. You have no inside presence at
all. Teams with height will be licking their chops to upset a #4 seed. I take
back what I said 2 weeks ago. There is no way this team makes it to the sweet
16. No way. "BYU a #1 or #2 seed. Still
laughing.........LOL, told you I was right. Your lucky to get a 4 seed. I bet a
lot of Y fans finally came down to earth again tonight.
BYU Cougars have a great season despite this loss.
Dudes. Haters will hate. Ignore them, I will never understand how fans of teams
like the Raiders, Utes, and Dodgers can be so emotionally invested in other
teams losing, more so that their own team winning. BYU lost because
SDSU wanted it more by forcing turnovers and leveraging their inside game,
without taking too many junk three pointers like they did the last few times.
BYU actually had good shots, they just didn't fall down. This game was fairly
officiated unlike other games for BYU.I think BYU is a scrappy team
and if they play with emotion, they will be hard to beat in the tournament. They
have had a lot of adversity and pressure, most teams have come at them with full
effort and nothing to lose. They deserve a 3 or 4 seed, should get to the sweet
sixteen, and will then get to the final four if they have good match ups or hot
What a great season - thank you, thank you to the staff and players - well done!
yea hedgie just cause Alabama was # 1 all year long year and then lost in the
SEC championship game what bragging rights do u have wait till my friend
duckhunter hears this!! we would have shut them out!!
Well SDSU finally got one I guess, that so-called great atheletic team has
beaten BYU once in the last 5 times they have played and they did it without
Brandon Davies in the line up. The absence of Davies was felt tonight, BYU had
very little inside game on offense and gave up way too many offensive rebounds.
Poor shooting from the outside hurt as well of course and SDSU did play a great
game tonight. All well time to move on to the big Dance, its great to be once
again headed to the NCAA tournament. I bet you jealous yewt fans
wish you knew what it felt like to still be playing but hey you can always tune
in and watch real basketball teams in the state of utah play since BYU and USU
will both be in. Of course im sure you will watch the byu game since your so
obsessed with everything BYU does.BTW, I find it funny that suddenly
some of you have conviently taken an interest in the utah womens basketball
team LOL, but I guess I shouldn't be really surprised, afterall most yewt fans
are fairweather fans.
What a great year this has been! BYU has had more ESPN exposure than ever
before, Jimmer Fredette will be the national POY, we beat SDSU twice to secure a
piece of our last MWC regular season title. The big dance awaits with a 4 seed
at worst. But most importantly, BYU basketball has generated much
positive exposure for the church, and after all that is what the mission of BYU
athletics is all about.Great job Dave Rose and team! Way to
represent our faith with flying colors!
Nice to see all our Utah friends popping off about Jimmer and BYU's 4th loss.
Hey, in the meantime, go find a coach and a team and maybe the MUSS will come
back to basketball. BYU lost today but it was sure fun wayching them with the 30

still a good season :)
Tough to play back to back games. Lucky for Jimmer, NBA games are at least a

i was just messing with my comments we really need to all grow up and not talk
so much trash about each other..utahs going to the pac 12 byu is going

I've enjoyed BYU basketball immensely this year...awesome team even though we
had this disappointing loss. They are still one of the better teams in the
nation and I expect they will win more games in March Madness. I'm proud of how
they handled adversity and laugh at those who want to denigrate them...it was a
great season!!!! You guys can hold your heads high and prepare for the next
Serious...All these posts from Chris, Hedge and Hunted?Football must have really left you bitter, going from #5 to unranked AP at the
end of the season. Utah football is the measuring stick for being exposed... ya
think? Can you be any more lame with your comments.30-4?4-1 against SDSU for the past two years? How embarassing is
that really for the cougs? BYU is the only team to beat SDSU all season.Every Utah fan I know is embarassed of football and basketball this
season. You three just take being embarassed to the next level, being
embarassing.===It's been a great season so far. 30 wins. One
of the most enjoyable seasons to watch since Majerus was in town. And really,
Jimmer has the best average in the nation. Been fun to watch. Now I
see BYU and SDSU lacing them up and playing next week. I'll be cheering for
both teams. More basketball to come. I feel a cough coming on next Thursday and
Friday.(BTW, strong props to the UofU womens team. Michelle Plouffe
is a stud.)
@ModerateWell... back to back to back, but of course it's not like SDSU
didn't have to do that too. Teams average about 3 NBA games a week.@Duckhunted"cant we act christian to each other"Heh, no we can't, Utah is a public university and thus we don't have a
religious affiliation but we can act decent to each other.
A reminder about the difference between the Ainge team in 1981 and the Fredette
team in 2011. Ainge had two teammates who would go on to solid journeyman
careers in the NBA (Greg Kite and Fred Roberts) and another who could have stuck
somewhere in the NBA but instead became a legend in the Spanish league (Steve
Trumbo). Jimmer just doesn't have that kind of supporting cast (Emery could
probably do well in a Euro league, like Jaycee Carroll). It's amazing that
Jimmer has carried the team as he has with mainly a group of role players. As
much as I love my Cougards, this is not an Elite 8 kind of team. I think at the
beginning of the season we all would have said we'd be thrilled to see them win
a couple of games in the touranment. I think that's a great goal this year.
i m sorry BYU fans i didnt to be rude but i wanted to be noticed..i'm crimoson
thru and thru but i also had to make it known we can acutally root for each
other as we go our seperate ways wouldnt it be great to meet for an NC someday??
Correction, they're my Cougars, not Cougards (bleary eyes an fumble fingers).
Also, I think their goal should be to win every game through to the National
Championship. A good and reasonable expectation from the fans would be to see
them get to the round of 16 (2 wins).
Serving BYU fans a dose of reality every day.You had a good season because you
have a really good shooterB Sit back and wait for your annual let down in
overrated and overhyped BYU athletics.
idedasntuff it can happen!!! i'm the best UTE fan ever go for it enjoy the
Since I'm walking down memory lane about Ainge, another interesting tidbit.
Ainge was the equivalent of POY that year (John Wooden award), but was not
drafted until the middle of the second round (partly perhaps because he still
had baseball ambitions). He didn't go on to be a superstar, but a starter on a
championship team. I even think he made the All-Star team once or twice.I'm sure Jimmer's jersey will be the third one up in the rafters before
too long, but Ainge was also a truly amazing college player. He was the leader
and coach on the floor from the time he first stepped on the court as a
freshman. He wasn't usually flashy to watch, just a great shooter, very
efficient, and terrific basketball intellegence. As for the other
jersey up there, Kresimir Cosic, he ranked right up there with Jimmer in terms
of entertainment value. It's a pity there isn't more footage of him playing for
BYU. I can't find BYU stuff on YouTube, but I'll never forget him (and I was a U
student and fan at the time)!
A few thoughts:SDSU is solid, and it's tough to beat a team 3 times in one
season whatever the match-up (see also UNM and TCU earlier in the week).Any "trash talk"' by Fredette was provoked. He shows respect
for his opponents and his interviews are always classy. He doesn't whine...big
diffences between him and Ainge.I've always felt that if BYU lost in
the semis or finals, they would finish as a 3 seed. A 3-2 finish (with both
loses being blow-outs) and losing Davies is enough to prevent them being a 2. A
4 seed though, Chris? That's a stretch.Veritas, I am a Ute fan and
not embarrased by Ute football. If anything, BYU's current basketball season is
starting to mirror Utah's FB: late season blow-out loses after a high ranking.
The Y still has time to stop the bleeding and prove me wrong. However, having
been ranked as high as 3, I believe anything short of the elite-8 would be
suboptimal. Seeding? Utah went to the championship as a 3 and lost
the next year in round 2 as a 2.
i'm sorry Rolston dont play the positive influence for the church thing into
this!! just root for your team it has had a great season its not all about ur
church! just root for ur team!! go cougs!!
wow ur so right mip u never know what hot shooting team awaits u!!
Sports is fun. One minute you are up and everyone loves or hates you. The minute
you are down, everyone piles on you. Posts are meant to be fun. Take hate out of
it. BYU is pretty and should get a 4 seed. My Utes are down but will be back on
top again. If you get offended easily, don't join the conversation. A few on
both sides are immature (Fresno and Duck) and should get off their parents'
computers and back to their homework.
@ DuckhuntedWhy can't I play the positive influence for the church
thing? Cheering for the team is cheering for the church, there is no separating
the two. Did you not know that BYU is owned by the LDS church? What is BYU
without the church? Think about it.
I attended the MTW tourney this weekend and felt a little uneasy about the
"jimmermania" . I saw saw signs comparing him to Noah, "let the
floods come, we don't need Noah, we have jimmer". I saw a fan walking
through the stadium after the new Mexico win with a sign reading "you just
got jimmered".I saw groups of fans litererally bowing to him when he
scored. This was a big venue for a lot of people to see BYU for the first time
as a national power and I think we kind of squandered the oppourtuninity to show
the other fans what BYU is all about. Instead the "jimmermaniacs" gave
them a look at fanatism and hero worship at it's worst. The In you're face, I'm
better than you, you just got jimmered, fans showed a lack of humility and
frankly poor sportsmanship. We are about to journey into the national spotlight,
let's show the country what BYU stands for. Remember proverbs 16-18. pride goeth
before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. You can all call me a
nut, but look inside yourself and ask why do we play?
I sure hope the BYU administration can look Jimmer Fredette in the eyes when
they get back to Provo. We all knew what was going to happen after the Brandon
Davies botched decision. Leonard trashes Jimmer after the blowout. That should
have never happened. I feel for coach Rose. Jimmer had no help. He did it all
against NM but no gas left tonight. Thanks again honor code for royally messing
up our dream season.
ur right Kam sports is for fun ...i guess i dont quite get the religious aspect
Rolston when Utah has as many LDS athletes as BYU.. I know BYU is Curch owned
but what does that have to do with college athletics?? does BYU"S football
team make a profit for the school Utahs does? Isn't this what everyone argues
about our ESPN contract our PAC 12 affliation
@ Why do we playWould you have the BYU fans wear suits and ties and
simply nod their heads when the team does well? They have a once in a
lifetime player, bringing them enormous attention. Let the kids have their fun
with "Jimmer-mania," I don't think the world is holding it against
I guess TEAIM Jimmer got Jimmer'd.
fan32 dont blame the honor code i've talk to Ralston and Kamute they dont agree
with me but the honor code is something u sign up for whe u sign up at BYU!!
It looks like we may have two teams from Utah 7th seed or higher. When was the
last time that happened? Probably not since the Danny Ainge era.
BYU 4 USU 7 rip um up guys!!!
To David R.I did not imply that the fans had to wear suits and ties.
The national spotlight burns bright, We can show enthusiasm, sportsmanship and a
have a positive influence on college athletics as a beacon of morality and
charactor or we can be obnoxious, prideful, idiots like 90% of the other
programs. I think you missed my point, so I will ask you directly. In your
opinion, What is the purpose of our athletics program?
I'm curious to know what the Y fans think they should be seeded and what the
thing the Aggies should be seeded---and vice versa. As far as what
they deserve:BYU as a 3USU as a 5. I think BYU's chances
of getting a 2 are hurt by the fact that power conferences are getting their
best teams in the championship games (Texas, Kansas, Duke, UNC,
Kentucky/Florida, Ohio State). Considering SDSU would likely get the nod over
BYU, and considering Notre Dame and Pitt from the Big East----3 is a good fit
for the Y. The Aggies biggest problem is their conference and that
hey only have wo quality wins OOC (St. Mary's and LBSU). Unfortunately, Boise
State is the second best team in the WAC (the same team that lost to the Utes).
Considering Georgeown, who clobbered the Aggies, is likely headed for a 7 seed
or so, I'd say a 5 is probably not going to happen. As far as what
they'll probably get:BYU as a 3.USU as a 6 or 7.Aggie
fans and Y fans, I'd love to see your predicions...
fan32"Thanks again honor code for royally messing up our dream
season."I thank the BYU Honor Code for establishing a higher
standard at BYU.I'm sure Jimmer will take 30-4 and BYU's commitment
to stay true to its mission to educate the whole person.Someday,
when you're more mature, you'll understand why some things are more important
than winning basketball games.Leonard, Tre'Von, the San Diego Show,
and many of the Utah trolls who have posted here tonight have already
demonstrated their maturity.
Duckhunted, an honor code decision is not suppose to destroy a great season by
Jimmer and the rest of them. BYU handled it very poorly. Did you watch the game
tonight? Did you notice anything? You must have been reading the honor code
while BYU was getting blown out and Leonard trash talking Jimmer. Jimmer did not
deserve that. BYU was not thinking through that decision. Let's quit drinking so
much kool-aid and start holding BYU officials responsible for bad decisions.
These are official stats from BYU's athletic website for the past five games
since...March 12 LossField Goal% BYU 32 SDSU 453 PT% BYU 25 SDSU 33March 11 WinField Goal%

five games, BYU led in only two of them: FG% against WYO and yesterday's game

How about those AZTECS! I am sick and tired of hearing: "But only if
Davies was in there." SDSU rose to the occasion when they had to and
dominated the COUGS. Two conference championships in a row. Now let's see how
far they go in NCAA. Good luck to BYU, also.
hedgehogAll I know is there is a certain Utah fan who is incapable
of keeping his word to stop posting on BYU articles.Utah really
needs to change their fight song, because Utah Women are the only ones who
represent the U.
@ David R..I did not imply that the fans should wear suits and ties.
The national spotlight burns bright. This is great opportunity to show that most
BYU fans are enthusiastic, loud, and good sports. Or we can become hostile,
profane, prideful, arrogant idiots like 90% of the other programs. We can have a
positive influence on the national college sports scene and start a discussion
about good and bad in athletics or we can have fun screaming you've just been
jimmered in our opponents faces. The question I posed in my post was why do
play, so I will ask you directly, in your opinion, what is the purpose of our
Going to miss the BYU. Utah and Wyoming football and basketball rivalries.Never thought classy universities would place the alminty dollar ahead of 100
year tradidtion.Sports is a "team" sport. The contistants become
a close family. They live together for nine months, eat meals together, attend
the same classes, go on double, triple, etc. dates, etc. When one family member
is lost, the entire team take a huge hit. HUGE! Rules are rules. Codes are
codes. That said, when one team member is lost, who pays the price? Who pays
the price? The truth of the matter, the TEAM pays the price. Not the persons
committing the violation, but the TEAM. Something to consider. The San
Diego State Aztecs had the best on the floor tonight winning the MWC Tournement
because one BYU member missing. Cougs aid the price.San Diego should
receive a high rated seed. BYU will sink very deep.Look forward to the
Red/Black carrying the MWC high into March Madness.Good Luck Axtecs, you
have earned it.
@TrueBlue, I told you!
MiP#2 or #3 seed - BYU 30-4, #5 RPI, #30 SOS, 10-2 vs RPI Top 50#7 or #8 seed - USU 30-3, #18 RPI, #123 SOS, 1-2 vs RPI Top 50
Love the photo with coach with his hands on his face, nice job photographer.
So long cougars. At least BYU didn't steal the MWC Tournament crown away in
their last game as a MWC member. It's kind of ironic BYU will be back in Vegas
next year playing in the WCC Tournament. I guess there's no avoiding Vegas.
@fan32It appears you feel the "BYU officials" are
responsible for the actions of a player. The player is responsible for his
actions and he acted in a mature manner by taking ownership and abiding by the
consequences knowing the ramifications would be embarrassing and public. He did
the right thing and it was an honorable course of action that will literally
have eternal implications. Sorry if it messed up your basketball
What I will say for Byu is maybe Jimmie should pass that ball more and stop
trying to take every single on his shoulders, There is more than 1 player on
Johnson72Told me what?That BYU couldn't beat SDSU
without Brandon?Sorry, I disagree. Tonight's loss much more a factor
of fatigue, than it was the loss of Davies. In their third game in
three nights with all five starters playing almost 40 minutes each game, BYU was
obviously tired.Given several days rest, another rematch between
SDSU and BYU would be a tossup.
TrueBlueI simply said Byu would not win this tournament, You said
they would, That is all I'm saying.
Johnson72Thanks for sharing. Now what you should do is
join Jim Boylen in the ranks of unemployed coaches and leave real coaching to
someone who's led his team to back-to-back 30-win seasons and Jimmer to National
Player of the Year!
A loss is a loss.. Just way to go San Diego State :)
Even though Jimmer got his points, he missed too many shots. When you shoot
around 30%, you're giving the other team too many opportunities for rebounds and
SDSU has a way of taking advantage of that. They love to grab those rebounds
and run the floor. With Jimmer being weak on defense that gives a huge
advantage to teams like SDSU and it showed.
werWhile you're posting stats, why don't you post a comparison of
BYU's and Utah's overall records, conference records, MWC championships, and
NCAA appearances during the Dave Rose era at BYU.btw, When was the last time Utah posted back-to-back 30-win seasons?hint: Don't bother looking it up, because in Utah's "storied"
history, it's never happened!
Mormon Ute"Even though Jimmer got his points, he missed too
many shots."Brilliant analysis. So in your opinion, who should
have been taking the shots?Jimmer 10-25 (40%)Hartsock 2-10
(20%)Abouo 2-5 (40%)Emery 4-11 (36%)Collinsworth 1-4 (25%)Those are your 5 starters.If you're Coach Rose, who do you
want shooting the majority of shots?BYU didn't lose to SDSU because
Jimmer shot too much. BYU lost because the entire team shot poorly, which is
more attributable to tired legs than to poor shot selection.
SDSU they are the best
It's too bad this has to turn into a Ute VS Cougar thing. I'm a Utah fan but
I've really enjoyed watching Jimmer play and I wish BYU success in the NCAA
You can thank me later BYU fans. I told you this would happen. BYU always finds
a way to choke so what did you expect?
Funny how many clever comments are made by Ute fans. I guess it makes sense, its
not like they have a team to cheer on.
Not an excuse maker however when shots just don't fall that is just plain old
fatigue. The Y played their best at NM and were probaly emotionally drained.
It has always been difficult to beat a good team three times in a year. NM
already found that out. The season is not over yet for BYU. And what about
SDSU's chances in the big dance. They are the team that could go a long way and
deserve a lot of credit. Maybe not good for y fans but definetely a boost for
the MWC. And what about my Aggies. BYU's success overshadowed their great
season this year. And they won the WAC tourney. I am predicting a USU first
round upset this year and maybe more. One last thought who is the only team to
beat SDSU this year? The sky is not falling.
Seeing Jimmer score 52 points and the Cougars getting a win over UNM was worth
it. Playing a tough SDSU a third time and expecting a win after the outstanding
game against UNM was tough odds. No doubt the team was a little tired.Got to hand it to SDSU, they are big and very athletic and they deserved the
win. Congratulations to Coach Fisher. Now get some rest Cougars and
get ready to 'dance'.Dnews... put the comment limitations back in.
This was pathetic reading 18 Duckhunted comments.
Bad loss but BYU beat SDSU twice by 13. BYU isn't strong inside.
They weren't even with Davies in the lineup. They do have a bunch of
great shooters though. Hope they have their touch next week.Congrats to SDSU.
Facts: BYU Poor shooting, tired legs but still had a chance with 4:49 left,
despite shooting 32%. SDSU lots of energy, deeper bench, poor
sportsmanship/taunting - KW clapping in Jimmer's face - Classy. No SDSU players
shook BYU hands after game, just coaches. To be determined: Unless
Hedgie was on floor, I don't know how he comes up with Jimmer talking trash. I
think it was the other way around as noted by KW clapping in his face.
Last night, the deeper team won, which is typically the case in conference
tournaments. I was certainly hoping that the Cougars could pull it off, but I
am not surprised by the outcome, given how many minutes BYU's starters had
played in the first two rounds. Those who laugh and mock a 30 win
team for one loss in the Championship game against a top 10 team apparently
don't have a solid understanding of college basketball. That they feel so
relieved when their rival eventually loses a game speaks volumes about both
BYU's success and their jealousy.Time to rest up and then make some
noise in the big dance.Rise and shout!
Note: Not everyone who shares a different opinion on BYU is a Univ. of Utah
One "trick ponies" don't always work out so well in a Big Show.
What if... Bendell had played and Wesley had not been homered?
Wow...not a good way to enter the tourney. Good luck cougars, you'll need it.
Book 'em Dano "Unless Hedgie was on floor, I don't know how he
comes up with Jimmer talking trash."Hedgie lives to throw mud
at BYU; he makes stuff up all the time.---------------------As poorly as BYU shot for the game, the Cougars did fight back and with
a 13-2 run, cut a 21-point deficit to 62-52 with 5:02 left in the game. A steal
by Collinsworth and a missed short-range jumper by Anderson could have cut
SDSU's lead to 8 with 4:07 left.
crowntown1"Not everyone who shares a different opinion on BYU
is a Univ. of Utah fan, alumni etc. "It's common knowledge that
a large number of opposing "fans" are simply BYU haters. Most of them
adopt Utah as BYU's antagonist, but when the Utes don't have much of a team,
they're content using any team that happens to play well against the Cougars.
This week it will be whichever team BYU plays in the opening round of the NCAA
tournament.btw, your "different opinion" is just another
way of saying you're a BYU hater. That's fine. You're welcome to
share your "opinion".
I think it is amazing that San Diego thinks they stopped Jimmer after he scored
30 points on them. No mention was made of the fact that the rest of the team
failed to show up for the game. When Jimmer scores 30 and the rest of the team
scores 22, that is a pathetic display for the rest of the team. It is laughable
to hear them say they stopped Jimmer (bragging)about it at 30 points. They did
stop BYU from winnig but not Jimmer.
The Jealous and Obsessed trollers are out in force I see. I believe Jimmer was
responding to some no-class trash talking from kwame after the game. Notice who
handled the question about that at the press conference with class. Hint: it
wasn't kwame. 30-4 with a 3 seed to the NCAA and the jealous trollers still
can't get over themselves. Very sad!!
What's up?"One "trick ponies" don't always work out
so well in a Big Show."You obviously don't know much about the
NCAA tournament, do you?NCAA tournament history is filled with teams
that were carried DEEP into the tournament, even to a championship, on the back
of one special player.Ever heard of...Butler's Gordon
Hayward? Davidson's Stephen Curry?Virginia's Ralph Sampson?Indiana State's Larry Bird?Princeton's Bill Bradley? West
Virginia's Jerry West?San Francisco's Bill Russell?With a hot
shooting Jimmer, the Cougars are capable of beating any team in the tournament.
Whether they can sustain that for 6 games is doubtful; but it certainly wouldn't
shock anyone if Jimmer were to carry BYU to two or three wins.
Dave in Idaho SDSU was just lucky that they faced a tired Jimmer.
Given three days to rest, Jimmer might have set a new career high against the
Aztecs.Hartsock's shooting 2-10, 0-5 from 3pt didn't help. Noah is
giving great effort on defense, getting rebounds, blocking shots, but his
shooting has been abysmal. If Noah had shot well, BYU would have been right in
the game, despite BYU's thin front line without Davies and Collinsworth.
This whole seeding thing is nothing more than a political fiasco! If BYU gets a
seed at 5 or lower and USU gets higher than an 8 it will prove out my statement.
If these 2 teams were to play 10 games on a neutral court, they would more than
likely win 5 each. There is not "any" difference between these 2
schools except politics!
"Riddles"As it's said " I know (take your pick of
your names) they are great ball players, and Jimmer is not one of those guys.
Didn't San Diego State play 3 games in 3 nights also? And they played as a team
passing the ball around, Jimmie didn't pass the ball, the 10 other players for
the cougars should of been well rested.. Oh well good luck byu, they should at
least get a 6 seed?
What's up?And none of them is Jimmer.
Come on Cougar fans! SDSU played as many games as BYU has this past week.
Arguably the Cougs could have had more energy seeing as they have had more
blowout wins than SDSU has had this season. I'm tired of seeing the team
fatigue excuse...the only player on BYU who could play that card is Jimmer
himself. If he has to score 40+ points every game for the Cougars to win
against their tougher opponents, he will inevitably eventually falter. It's not
the Aztec's fault their team is more balanced, hence they won the tournament. 2
in a row if I'm not mistaken.
This is a great BYU team of outstanding young men with superb coaches, Dave Rose
and Dave Rice. This has been an incredible season, and we have loved every
minute of it. Jimmer Fredette has won the hearts of people across the country
and the sports media with his commitment, unique style of play, and his humble
personality. He is and will be a legend at BYU forever. Congratulations on
everything you, as a team, have accomplished in 2010-2011!!!One
losing game does not a team make.Go Cougars!
Actually, I guess it is their (SDSU) fault they are more balanced. What I
should have said is that BYU fans shouldn't hold that element against them.
Relax Vince.BYU isn't going to get anything lower than a 4, but more
likely a 3 seed.USU will probably get an 8/9, but won't get higher
than a 7.BYU is still #5 in RPI, #21 SOS, 9-2 against RPI Top 50USU is up to #15 in RPI, #121 SOS, 1-2 against RPI Top 50The
selection committee doesn't care how two particular teams might matchup
head-to-head, they evaluate the entire resume.Utah State has a very
good team, but BYU's resume is much better than USU's.BYU lost to #3
RPI SDSU last night, but was within 10 points with just over 5 minutes left in
the game.USU struggled to beat #114 RPI BSU last night, leading by
only 5 points with 49 seconds left.btw, on a neutral court, the
Cougars would win 7 of 10 versus the Aggies.
maybe even 8!
Johnson72"Didn't San Diego State play 3 games in 3 nights
also?"Yes, that's the advantage of having a deeper bench.
Fatigue is a legitimate excuse when you're playing your third game in three
nights and all of your starters are playing heavy minutes. The only
thing you're really tired of is BYU still being a legitimately very good team
even without Brandon. With a rested starting five, BYU still has the
firepower to beat SDSU.btw, unless you're clueless or have been
living under a rock, his name is JIMMER !!!Not even
knowing the correct name of the biggest name in college basketball this season
doesn't say much for your basketball IQ.
As has been pointed out, BYU received more exposure this year than ever before.
Many more people know about BYU and the LDS Church now than when the season
started. Grade for exposure - AThis BYU team is not even close in
talent to the Ainge, Craig, Roberts, Kite and Trumbo team of 1981. As GREAT as
Fredette has been, this group, in my opinion overachieved. No one other than
Fredette will see the NBA. Grade for overachieving - ANot since the
Cosic days has there been a team as entertaining to watch. As someone mentioned
earlier, it is a shame that there is not more film of Cosic. I was just a
teenager at the time, but he was a blast to watch! He, like Fredette,
single-handedly filled the Marriott Center! This team, with Fredette, has been
equally entertaining. Entertainment grade - ABYU will achieve its
highest seed ever. Grade ABYU beat Utah, SDSU, UNLV twice this
year. Grade ABYU has DOMINATED Utah for the past 5 years or more.
Grade ABYU has the most wins in a season EVER - Grade AThanks BYU for a WONDERFUL season!
Bottom line was Jimmer was extremely tired from scoring 52 the night before
against New Mexico. Jimmer didn't look himself most of the game. Either did
Emery.Overall they are playing good basketball. As long as Jimmmer
is on the court next Thursday, they have a chance to win.Never
really been a BYU fan but with Jimmer I plan on watching the entire game. He is
Goodbye #2 seed.
Hello #3 seed!
Playing the run and gun is the wrong strategy when the opposition is doing a
better job of it. It's like a company taking a loss on every sale. BYU should
have tried to slow it down and change the dynamic of the game...They just tried
to force the issue every time down...Just hope they learned and will apply it
when they face tough competition in the NCAA tourney ...
I am a BYU fan and still the DN censors me, because I threatened to cancel my
subscription........Well, It is true, I will, and anyone with a mind will too
come tomorrow. I pay to be censored? I do NOT freakin think so!
Let us face it.Regardless how good west sports team are, because of the
east bias, teams in the west will never be given breaks. NEVER.West teams
must go the extra mile every time.BYU, SDSU, USU, and UNLV will surprise
many. Actually, New Mexico should have been in the mix, but the east would not
allow four MWC teams in March Madness. NIT for New Mexico.BYU basketball
is too good for their new conference next year. The Cougs need to be challenged
when they play their best basketball. National ratings for BYU next year, forget
it. The east will say, "look who BYU plays", end of converation. Wish ALL west teams well, regardless of conferences.
