I was there and Lew's description of the atmosphere and emotion inside the Marriott Center is spot on. I don't think Davies is being given enough credit for coming forward at the time that he did. The national attention has been staggering and he needs all the love and support the cougar nation can give him.

No objections to the content of the article. No question Davies is an honest individual who could have easily participated in a cover up or delayed the whole thing a couple of weeks. Kudos to him. However, this article is more of an op-ed piece and should be on the opinion pages or printed as a letter to the editor not as a jounalistic sports article.

I couldn't agree more, Cecily. Thanks for your insightful perspective. This affects everyone from Brandon's family and teammates, fellow athletes like you, BYU fans, and friends and foes from around the world as demonstrated by current media. There seems to be an awakening of sorts, as short-lived as it may be, to what honor and standing for something is all about. Thanks for your honorable contribution to BYU and the MWC.
p.s. Op-Ed piece though this may be, I was happy to find you in the Sports Section. It's been a bit challenging to follow you now that you're not part of the blog. I love reading your contributions. I can count on you to inform with just the right amount of humor. Keep up the great work!

Dutchman is wrong. This was a good article and in light of all the other ones on this subject the past week, I think this is the perfect place for it. I felt the same emotion watching some of these things happen on television. I can only imagine what it was like there.

This is especially nice coming from a true BYU athlete, who understands the commitment and pressures of giving your heart to the sport and school. Nice piece.

I disagree with Dutchman. As I read the piece written so vividly described by Cecily, I was excited to experience vicariously the events of that net cutting ceremony that I had viewed on U-Tube many times before. I chuckled at the reference to Cosmo's overexposure, and felt the pride in a crowd of BYU basketball fans that proved to be as gracious and appreciative of Brandon's honesty in confessing his violation of the honor code as they are unruly in cheering on their teams victorious on-court surges toward victory. Unlike Dutchman, I like to get into the mind and, yes, even the heart of my favorite columnists. Thanks, Lemmon-Lew for opening the door of both to your readers.
