Byu beats Utah for the 9th out of the last 10 tries
Phew! Good game for both.
Great team effort by the Cougs. It's nice to see the younger guys contributing like that. Good job men!
Good game Utes. You went in as big underdogs but made a game of it. Way to go BYU. It is nice to see some other players stepping up.
Tough game. Utes played one of their best games of the season, good thing it still wasn't enough.
You got Abooed
The u had one of their best games of the season and BYU had one of their worst and still beat the mighty utes.
So long uties of the Conference of Chumps. How long will it take for their fans to wish they were back playing some teams that are actually good.
Enjoy your drop to the bottom of a conference.....oh wait you already are there.
Utah played very well and they have some good atheletes...I expect better things from them next season. BYU was awesome even though they didnt have their best game...Charles in Charge was a monster!! Jimmer must have been tired because he didnt look quite the same...but still had 23 points! Its great to be a cougar fan!!!
Eddie "The u had one of their best games of the season and BYU had one of their worst and still beat the mighty utes." Kind of sounds like Utah football and beating BYU last year.
Dick is right - these two programs are heading in different directions. Utah is heading to the PAC12, BYU is heading to the Big West.
@Eddie: From another point of view: BYU is having its best season ever, Utah is having its worst season ever, and yet BYU barely pulled out a win, at home.
Have fun playing St. Mary's twice a year.
Sir Robin
St. Mary's is a regular in the NCAA Tournament and I doubt that BYU will be able to beat them 9 out of 10 times like they've done to Utah or average 19 points per win like they've done over Utah this year. Yes, the competition will definitely be stiffer in the WCC than Utah has been able to bring to the MWC. Not only that but the two games per year against St. Mary's will probably be on ESPN or BYU TV. Either way, the entire country will be able to watch them play!
Re: Mountainman56
On ESPN?
Look at the WCC time slots on ESPN.
The country will be able to watch the Cougars if they are willing stay up till mid night.
Oh and btw, losing skids end. Remember 1-25?
Utah's losing streak will end in the PAC 12.
BYU's winning streak will likely continue in the obscurity of the WCC.
Given a choice I'd pick the PAC 12...
And so would you, if you had the choice.
Oh, and about the NCAA appearance of St. Mary's and Gonzaga in the tournament... They win when they get to the tournament.
BYU hasn't won meaningfully in the tournament in decades.
This year will be no different.
BYU smack talk never gets old. Just remember that the "number 7 team in the country" was tied to us coming off a loss to san diego st by 30 at your place with 6 minutes left. If anything you should be talking about your own team and just how over rated you really are.
re:utah derek
Just pat them on the back and say nice game. Don't be a sore loser.
It's funny how quickly the whiners on the hill forget about BYU's 25-point beat down of the Utes on their home.
I wouldn't make too much out of only losing by 13, with Jimmer having one of his worst games of the season.
Don't worry Utes...the schedule gets easier next year. I predict you might even have a winning record! Mark.it.down.
Congratulations to the Cougars. Note: I didn't watch the game. Not interested in b-ball. But I can congratulate the Cougars when they beat us.
@UtahDerek
"Just remember that the "number 7 team in the country" was tied to us coming off a loss to san diego st by 30 at your place with 6 minutes left."
That tells me that San Diego might be awfully difficult for BYU to get a win there. Cougars better be up for that game and not be over confident if they want to win.
Looks like the ute "fans" are all enjoying their 'moral' victory.
LOL
Let's see UtahDerek, 9 out of 10 and we are overrated?? What does that make you? I know, you have done better in the tourney - blah blah blah. For a fan base that jumps all over BYU if 1984 is ever mention, you sure like living in the past!
The truly sad thing about the Utes going to the Pac10 and the Cougs going to WCC, is that this boorish trash talking will continue because some fans have nothing better to do than to belittle either team.
Good game Cougs.
Better luck next time, Utes.
My best to both schools in all of their endeavors.
Re: Balan
"Jumps all over BYU if 1984 is mentioned..."
Utah was in the Sweet Sixteen in 2005.
The last time BYU made the Sweet Sixteen was 1981.
When Utes talk about tournament success at least we keep it to the most recent decade.
