That's crazy how he played at the local prison.
When I was a student at BYU I went with some friends to play ball at the point of the mountain. It was a different feeling to go through the barred doors and have them close behind you. We got our butts kicked.
With classes, tv interviews, and being stared at wherever he goes. How does Jimmer stay focused on basketball?
Eliot - I did the same thing and we got destroyed too.
But it was a fun experience and the inmates were courteous and glad to have us there.
I love ESPN and the Jimmer.

This is all old news. Can ESPN do any original reporting?
Yes Cynic
Each time they report on something for the first time; it is original. Each time they print a previously reported on topic with new information; it is partially original. You do have the right to "NOT READ" every article that comes out.
Just a thought
Jimmer's FG% is 47.3% compared to Tai Wesley's 60.6%. The only reason Jimmer gets the uber-points per game is because he is given the ball all the time. Law of averages. I'm not saying he's a horrible player, he just get's the ball more often. That's the only way you can reconcile his average points per game with his FG% and 3pt% (which is 41.3%, compared to Wesley's 50%, and Brian Greens is 46.7%). Great player who relies on plenty of attempted shots. Just an observation.
Good luck Cougars!
@hawaiianaggie
So is it your contention that if Wesley shot as many 3's as Jimmer does that he would still be making 50% of them? Same question for green?
But just to get you back to reality neither of those players is defended in the manner Jimmer is. I would guess Wesley hasn't been defended closely on a single 3 point shot all year long and most of greens are kick outs from inside when he is wide open as well. Neither is creating his shot like Jimmer does, neither can shoot, or hit, from 40 feet out, and neither is defended like Jimmer is.
Frankly even trying to compare those 2 to Jimmer in that manner is ridiculous. Neither could do what Jimmer does and be anywhere near his level of success. They simply aren't good enough to do it.

"The only reason Jimmer gets the uber-points per game is because he is given the ball all the time."
Like, duh!
Has it dawned on you that in order to score alot, you have to shoot alot, which means you have to have the ball alot???
I'd love to see Tai or any other Aggie player break 20 points while being double- and triple-teamed the entire game.
Jimmer(27.6) is AVERAGING more than Tai(27) has scored in his HIGHEST scoring game this season, and that against a much weaker schedule.
Utah State has a very good team this year, but please don't make yourself look foolish by trying to minimize the extra-ordinary talent that is Jimmer Fredette.
I personally wish BYU would have offered Wesley a scholarship and can't figure out why they didn't. I think it was a mistake and can only imagine how much better they would be if they had him. Nothing pleases me more than watching my fellow PHS Bulldogs excell and Tai has certainly done just that.
Having the ball alot and putting up lots of shots doesn't automatically translate into scoring alot.
That might happen a few times, but as it does, teams will adjust and start guarding you more closely.
It takes a special player with great talent to continue to score at a high level when every team he faces is concentrating all of their efforts to try to stop him from scoring.
As good as he is, it's doubtful Tai would average 10 points a game if he was immediately double teamed every time he touched the ball.
UNLV did everything they could to prevent Jimmer from even getting the ball, and then gave him no space at all to shoot or dribble, yet Jimmer still laid 29 points on the Rebels and shot over 40% from the field.
Wow, that last post was purely observational. I wasn't attempting to downplay Jimmer's awesomeness, which he indeed does have. I just thought it was interesting to look at the stats.
All the same.
Good luck Cougars!
Go Aggies!
