If you are going to criticize players defense, at least include Jimmer in that. He needs to be a complete player, not take D off. Even the announcers said most of the time BYU has to play zone because Jimmer cannot cover his guy so the others have to make up for him. It's too bad they lost, they had a big lead several times.

The way jimer plays defense he'll never make it in the pros. I'm sure a lot of scouts scratched him of there list today.

Hedgehog, one game won't get him scratched off of their list. (notice I spelled "their" correctly and not "there" as you did)

After all of the hype for SDSU the let down was inevitable. They will continue on playing well!

If anyone thinks that BYU lost this game, they are mistaken. BYU won this game. They were the better team and played a better game. However you cannot stop dishonest officiating. Fredette was fouled 20 to 25 times, hard fouls that were not called. He was knocked down, pushed and hit and no calls. He went to the line 2 maybe 3 times. He was bumped almost every shot. One time he drove the lane, and was pushed two feet, hit in the head and then plummeted, again no call. However on the other end phantom calls prevailed. If this type of officiating is allowed then its not worth playing the game: Corrupt officiating.

The report card doesn't include enough players. That is the problem. I wish Rogers got some more minutes earlier in the year so he could contribute now.

I think we are really missing Chris Collinsworth and I hate even mentioning this but we would be a lot better with Lloyd Jr. If nothing else he could have played good defense when Emery gets in foul trouble.

Main weakness is depth.

Davies probably deserved a better grade, a B+.

Jimmer is a ballhog. Of course he's a very talented player with fantastic abilities, but he doesn't make anyone else on his team any better. In fact, he makes them worse. There is no 'I' in team. Conversely, there is no 'team' in Jimmer. There is, however, an 'I' and a 'Me' in Jimmer. How appropriate

Jimmer is a ballhog? Are you serious, Locro?

He took a total of EIGHT shots in the first half, making 5 of them and all of the 3s he took. He also had 5 assists, equaling the total for UNM's whole team in that half. He continued to try and dish the ball in the second half, but nobody was making shots. In fact, there was one time when Collinsworth and Anderson were playing hot potato with the ball, neither one wanting to take a high percentage shot right under the basket. They ended up turning the ball over.

Yes, Jimmer took some ill-advised shots. But to call him a ball hog is being just plain ignorant of what really went on in the game.

"Davies probably deserved a better grade, a B+. "

I agree. Especially since he was able to stay out of foul trouble and play significant minutes.

We lost the game due to some good shooting by the Lobos. If the Aztecs had shot this well we would have lost to them. Did I like the way the game was officiated? No. But I rarely like MWC officials. We had a 13 point lead and went cold when they got hot. Tip your hat to the Lobos and move on down the road. Need top bring it better in Wyo and against the Rebels Saturday. Start the next 10 game streak. Hope it is longer.

Someone else besides Fredette is going to have to pose an offensive threat. When a couple other players besides Jimmer start hitting their outside shots, BYU almost always buries the other team. I thought the guys looked tired in the 4th quarter.

B+ for Jimmer on 32 pts, 7 assists, 3 steals and 5 rebounds? Man that's a tough grading scale! He exceeds his season and career averages in every category and gets a B+? Wow. Okay, so Jimmer doesn't play defense very intently. Can we really afford for him to? He had two fairly early fouls. Do you really want to see a game where Jimmer is on the bench in foul trouble? Jimmer can play defense, but he he is too valuable to have him push the risk factor - hence the matador moves when he knows he's beat, rather than the hand swipes that put Jackson on the bench way too long in this game.

Many teams have lost in the PIT. Its not an easy place to play. But to blame the ref's as one above has is ridiculous.

According to the box score, byu shot more free throws and committed fewer fouls, had fewer turnovers, etc. Each game is called differently. Against SDSU, byu got away with hard fouls while touch fouls were called for them. Its called playing on the road!

How about next time not blowing a 13 point second half lead. Maybe find some depth. The bench was outscored 30-9. You can't live or expect 40+ point outings every time Jimmer takes the floor. He's bound to have cooled down and will probably cool down more. BYU needs better balance and bench play otherwise they could lose to anyone if Jimmer shoots poorly on one night.

No shame in losing at the Pit though. Its a loud crazy place to play. At least they're not dropping home games right and left like my Ute's.
