'"I've seen the original flag, and I've seen the flag now, and 1847 was an important year when the pioneers came into Utah, and I would like the flag to be in the original way," - Article
Wouldn't it then represent the Ute tribe?
Did the Ute tribe come into Utah in 1847? I'm not sure I understand Pagan's insinuation.
Yesterday, in the hearing on the Flag Resolution Rep. Lee Perry, answered a question that I did not know the answer to. Rep. Janice Fisher asked the question about the on the 6 arrows on the shield of the flag, which I told her that on the first flag of 1903 there were 8 and in 1913 it was changed to 6 arrows.
Rep. Perry said, that the 6 arrows represented the 6 tribes that inhabited Utah during the territorial period.
Pagan,
which Ute tribe? Ute, Piute, Goshute, Northern Ute, Southern Ute, Ute Mountain Ute tribe, Capote, Mouache, Parianucs, Tabeguache, Uintah, Weeminuche, Yampa?
(that's a few more than the six referenced by Mr. Fox, maybe there's some overlap)
