The kids got skills. You bet coach Butch Jones is going to say any thing to sale this kid on changing to Cincinnati.
BYU wont make any broken promises. What you see is what you get at BYU.
Say anything (i.e. make broken promises). Do tell, what broken promises will coach Jones be making? Wait, I know. He probably will tell the kid that Cincy ranks #1 among all ranked BCS teams in grad rates. Or better yet, he may say that the Big East is an automatic qualifying conference for the BCS bowls. To top it all off coach Jones will tell the young man that Cincy has won back to back Big East championships and will compete for it every year. I hope this young man will be able to see through the bs.
Maybe the broken promise is that the Big East will still be an automatic qualifier in a few years when the MWC takes that away from them?
Go Bearcats! Being a biased Cincy grad, I'd rather play in Cincy.
former Cincy QB Adam Hoover an LDS kid. Anybody know?
I've been to Cincinnati and can't see any reason why anyone would want to go there. No reason to worry about this.
Look, recruits can take like 5 trips. I think it is good for these boys to go on as many as they get invited to so that they can compare the programs and the caliber of the other players being recruited. BYU can compete with anyone in terms of facilities and quality of people as well as level of competition vs other schools. If I were a BYU coach I would encourage the recruits to look around at what everyone has to offer. BYU sells itself. We shouldn't be intimidated that one of our recruits goes on a visit elsewhere.
I live in Cinci and I don't see why anyone would want to come here :-)
Notre Dame, UC at least UC went to a BCS bowl. Actually twice in the last 1o years now. Your gonna say they got killed. I'm gonna follow that by they played Florida and TCU lost to Boise St. NUFF SAID!
Go to a school that doesn't sign 4 RB's in one class. The kids is smart to keep looking around.
You kidding? Cincy's got Skyline Chili, King's Island, the Freedom Center, and um... Over the Rhine! Whoo hooo!
This would be huge for Cincy. I saw this guy's highlight film from this year on youtube and he is like a whole different player from his jr year. imagine if he progresses like that every year! Kid is a STUD.. i wonder if he is a mormon?
The fact Cincy is a two time confenrence champ is a sad commentary on the conference.
to Provo
It's not Drew's "job" to "please" someone just because they invited him to see their school. He's committed to BYU, period. He can politely decline and say that this is where he wants to be. This trip is a waste of his time and Cincinnati's.
And to SMART KID. Good programs recruit lots of athletes. It's called competition and depth. You compete for playing time out here. They must not have a lot of competition back east.
A real good kick returner and specialty back or would he make a great DB? His speed is something BYU needs.
I wouldnt think he would reafirm his committment this week only to change next week. He is a solide committment.
Come on Dick...can't you find anything better to write about than recruits? You really try to drag out football all year don't you!
Dick writes what the people want to read, as does every other sports columnist, simple as that.
NEWS FLASH: No one really cares about basketball that much, or any of the other sports during the off season. The only reason basketball exists is so that we don't go completely insane in the off season while we wait for football to start again in the fall. Football recruiting gets as much press as basketball does.
If he's solid on his commit, then why waste his time and Cincy's time. Either he's not firm to BYU, or he's deceiving Cincy.
So according to your clueless comment a school should say, "WE will only recruit 3 running backs, and cross our fingers no one gets hurt, but we are confident so much we won't try and strengthen our program." Wow, you are another couch potato who knows nothing about sports. Go back to your comics.
