I thought the church was going to be there for the long term. These people need more than a week of our aid and expertise. I am surprised they are packing up after just seven days on the ground.
What--you just got there. Seven days and you're on your way home. I know we have been asked to contribute to LDS Humanitarian Aid. Please let us know what the church is actually going to be doing in the days to come in Haiti. The dust hasn't even settled and we're pulling out. Dr. Sanjay Gupta was there right from the beginning and still continues to help with the effort. I thought I read an article earlier in the week that indicated the LDS church was there for some time to come. What gives.
Thanks for your awesome work, stories and pictures.
Hope you know how much we followed and rooted for you.
Maybe Des News can consider sending other reporters with some of the LDS teams that will be continuing to rotate down to Haiti.
As part of the team that just got back, I know our efforts there have just begun. We are in the midst of a major transition, but rest assured, we haven't "pulled out" by any means. Not all of the doctors left, and others have come in to replace the ones that did. A huge new shipment of medical supplies landed in Port au Prince this morning (I know as I helped unload it). Fear not, we're still there and looking well into the future.
