This is really good news. The Provo temple is busy, and church members need access to the spiritual strength and solace the temple provides. The covenants made in the temple is essential for the progression of all people.
Because I could
if the provo temple is so busy, why are some BYU students called as "temple patrons", and their calling is to "attend the temple". That's it, just attend, once a week. Seems like busy work to me.
Go figure.
When?
yes .. about time ... especially seeing how many are in the county to the north .. payson is perfect for those to the north and the south ...
cant wait the 2 to 3 years before it all becomes a working temple !!!!
yea !!!
Its busy. Every missionary goes every week. Most BYU students go often plus every member from Orem to Nephi. That is a lot of temple attendance.
As far as BYU students getting callings to go to the temple, the wards are huge. Not everyone gets to teach or be in a presidency.
What a blessing of excitement!!! This is going to be so wonderful.
wondering--
The calling to attend once a week is an opportunity to be accountable to the Lord for something, a part of progression.
I am sure, between the MTC and BYU students, many students who go weekly without being called, and provo residents, the temple will still be busy.
I was there on Saturday. The normal flow took longer than usual, and the provo temple is high capacity anyways.
Real Estate boom in that area of Payson. Out come the Greedy souls.
You are asking the wrong people/person, if you don't have your answer to that question already. I can come up with several reasons, though probably not the real one. For instance: maybe because it's the only way they can get students to follow through with their responsibility to their ancestors is to "call" them... or maybe you are mistaken, and it's not be patrons, but actual workers... either way, I would consider it a blessing to have such a calling, so I really don't get your "busy work" comment. Worksheets in elementary school are busy work, temple work is not.
Isn't it possible that they are called because they might either need to attend, need a calling or because their Bishop might just have a better idea of what their needs are than you? There is always someone who will dig a negative in what is really just an announcement- next time maybe you could complain about the colors of the flowers on the Temple grounds
Will the new Payson LDS Temple have a really cool foodcourt in the basement, a nursery for the kids, and a place for non-practicing, non-member Mormon family members and friends to "wait it out" while a loved one gets sealed in the temple without them?
Hurrah for Israel!
We must all conform to Jordan T.'s belief of what a wedding is just so he/she can attend.
Would you like some cheese with your whine?
This will hurt attendance at Manti Temple.
As far as I knew, temple patrons are the attendants, not the temple workers who are called to serve as such. Members, not only BYU students, are recommended to attend the temple once per week. And also, there's a large amount of members from Orem to Payson. There was a need and I am glad the Lord decided to built one of his houses in Payson.
Our family is sooo excited!!! :-)
Can't wait- closer than Provo and will help take the stress off the wait time there.
Watch that city boom now!
If you build it...they will come.....
I have noticed you posted the same question both in DN and the SLT. I am going to believe you are wondering with all good intentions. So, if you haven't gone to a temple, most of them have a cafeteria, nursery is available to those families who are going to be sealed to those children and all temples have a foyer where people can seat and wait. Young Women use to volunteer to babysit kids while their parents attend the temple. I invite you to go to the next temple house so you can see for yourself. Of course, if you were good intended in asking.
This is tremendous news. There has been talk of the need for years. As a worker at the Provo Temple, we will miss our S. Utah County patrons but, yes, we will remain busy.
I've never heard of people being called to be patrons. There are a lot of great BYU and UVU students who are temple workers and their enthusiasm makes such a difference.
If student wards find a need to call members as patrons, that would have nothing to do with how busy the Temple is. The work is mighty and all the souls possible should attend and help in the work. The day will come when there are thousands of Temples and they will need to work around the clock to meet the need. I can hardly wait.
