Great game.. this was a really intense game on both sides. This is what high school is all about. I have been watching high school for twenty years and it continues to get better. I though it was very interesting to see who alta kept with in the end of game. Both were listed as juniors. Must have much confidence in them. With their average being less than three points. Brighton however had the answer and took it to them. Mitch Winters had a great offense game, however hight hurt him in guarding miller and he went off against the little guard.. I hope to see both teams in state
Firstly, Gerat effort by both teams. Secondly, I have been watching high school basketball for twenty years and it seems to always get better, and more intense. It was a great fought game all around. I think both teams have their strengths and weaknesses. I though it was very interesting who Alta kept in during the stretch. Three players were juniors. Two of them were guards and average less than three points a game and took the game winning shot. Mitch Winter had a great game on offense. However his hight effected him while Corbin Miller had the best of him while the gurad was gurading him. Great game. I was impressed by brightons composure. They are a great team and Sam Wunderli has a great mentaility on the court. Great game and great article.
A great game by the kids...Nice strategy by the Brighton staff, executed well. Miller was hot, but the difference in the game was Sam Wonderli's defense on Kyle Davis, in the passing lanes, on the boards and setting picks for Miller up top. Chaus also had some key plays. Well rounded Brighton group compared to a relatively thin Alta squad. Impressed with alta keeping close. Any team that locks down on Davis has a good shot at beating Alta. And that Wonderli kid has been consistent all year.
Davis had 23 points last night. Was the defense all that great on him last night knowing that?
Dear "Scout"
The defense was great when it had to be, at the end of the game. We locked down on him in the 4th and forced jv players that were (0 for Friday night) to take the last shot (a prayer) We should beat them by 15 next time.
I don't know but Brighton fans said that before this game as well. They're very equally matched teams that put up a great fight. Unfortunately the "prayer" didn't fall 'cause of a good coaching move on brighton's part. Next time, the prayer will be answered and the hawks will come out victorious.
Hawks better hope Brighton doesn't play to their full potential next time if they expect to be victorious. Look for Bengals to play better with each coming game.
And you think Alta didn't play to their full potential? They are both very good teams, and will both be improving their game. Expect another amazing game out of these teams.
Go hawks!!
How come the big 6'9" kid didn't play? I didn't even see him at the game. I know he would have at least changed some shots and probably made the difference.
sick of these brighton highlights by both the d-news and sltribune. There are more high schools than brighton and bingham you know.
They also benched their two sharp shooting guards. I think it cost them the game.
Interesting analysis by Ricky and Anonymous (twins separated at birth); although I would add one thing. It wouldn't have mattered if the Winter kid was 7' tall, if he gets picked at the top of the key like he did Friday night and nobody comes up to give defensive help, Miller still scores. Corbin is an incredible talent but if Alta figures out how to help a little on defense, the game never goes to OT.
I was just thinking how great it is to have coverage of Brighton highlights! Wish there was more - and oh by the way - wasn't Alta covered in the story too?
Brighton will fade at the end of the Year, Region 3 will be the one making noise in the postseason!
great job coach johnson. rich county is always pulling for your team
Obviously someone goes to region 3. Statistically 4 region 4 teams are doing better than the 2nd place team in region 3. Bingham is great. The other schools are a bit weak.
Unfourtinately, Alta's 6'9" center was out with mono and could not be at the game. I think alta would have won with him in
