Thank you for sharing this story. We appreciate so much the great work the doctors and nurses are performing inspite of this great emotional and physical burden of the long hours and lack of good medical facilities and so many needing care. Please tell them thank you.
I cant wait for the faith promoting stories to come out of this one. What does LDS have to do with any of this. The Deseret News has just gone overboard with all the LDS themes topics on this terrible ordeal. It is not an opportune time to trumpet ones own horn. Sure the church is helping with the cause but most of these articles borderline on selfishness and plan arrogance. It it disheatening to see the comments of sure pride on these blogs. We are better then that.
The only reason LDS is mentioned is because they're staying with a ward and he's a returned missionary who served in Haiti. Both are relevant. If he were of another faith or of no faith and working in a different location, that would be relevant. This just reports his situation. I have to think that tearing down good actions because of someone's faith is just as bad as what you just claimed. As you said, "plan arrogance." Whose plan?
LDS newspaper, LDS volunteer doctor, LDS family sharing his emails.
Would love to hear or read of any other relief worker's experiences also, LDS or not. This happens to be one of the stories being reported on, and reported in an LDS newspaper for a very large number of LDS readers, many of whom know this man, his family, or some of the people he is helping or working with, or have connections one way or another to the country, or some of its people.
Many of the LDS readers of this newspaper have donated regularly, or some just in this particular instance, to the Church Humanitarian Fund, and are gratified to hear of how our combined contributions, great or small, are being put to use. We know that help, giving on our behalf by our Church, is being given to all suffering people in Haiti, as well it should be, and not, as some have meanly suggested, to only LDS members!
I am grateful to get some first hand comments from relief workers working in the field in Haiti.. All you see on the news is destruction and mayhem, it's nice to hear these kinds of stories...Bring them on.
Perhaps you have never registered the fact that the Deseret News is of LDS roots and significant LDS connections--hence the coverage of these groups.
If there are teams of medical personnel from other Churches or religions in the Utah area, I personally know several writers at the Des News who would love to do daily updates and follow their experiences in Haiti each day.
Just contact the Des News with your group's information.
I have recently heard of the challenge among anti-LDS posters to see who can write the most provocative/abusive posts--
--and then wait to see which can get the greatest number of responses to their 'bait'.
They don't really know or care what the post--they are just designed to get response-they are just playing the rest of us.
Dear Ray,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you every day. We think of you often and all the good that you are doing there. May God's riches blessings be with you and all the volunteers there helping you, to open up all ways to help you get everything done that you are trying to do!
Keep sending your stories!! Don and Sinikka

The outpouring of relief shown here is truly amazing.
Other articles talk of many other active groups including corporations, other religions and countries including Islamic Relief USA assisting. The Lord's work is going forth from many religions and countries. May God Bless them in in their continued efforts.
Chuck Peterson is awesome. Many thanks to you, Steve, Craig & everyone else who has gone down to help.
