ok, so we want to find people, without a kind of criminal record, who are educated, speak a foreign language, and will work a short term job. For around $10-12 an hour.
Good luck with that.
this would eliminate the senator and his bud who were recently caught for dui and drinking. weren't they laying down the law at one pt? hiding from reality through words of hypocrasy...what about forgiveness ? the bible and a second chance..oh rehab is for quitters...they run program after program giving some of the best speeches and advice yet when it comes to forgiveness , it is remembered. give em a chance to make some money , they're welcome in my house...misdeanors!
You're kidding? Right? People should be given another chance at life but not at my risk. The Bible also says to protect your family and also says that to use better judgment. I agree with Jason Chaffetz (this time). If the Census Bureau is relaxed on whom they hire then I will not participate and they won't get any good information out of me. Sorry, I believe that if the dog bites me once then it's the dogs fault but if the dog bits me twice then it's my fault. "Sorry geez... Next please"
There are plenty of people in the United States who would be glad to get $10 to $12 dollars an hour. We don't need to coddle criminals. Wait until they have your address and a vision of your home after you have welcomed them in, then when they come and rob you, it will be a different tune your singing. Misdemeanors or whatever, a criminal is a criminal!!!!!!!!
Are you kidding, I have three college-age returned missionary sons, no criminal record, not even a speeding ticket, who speak Russian, Spanish and German who are thrilled to work a part-time temporary job at $10.00 to $12.00 an hour. In face, two of them have already applied and been accepted and the third is in the process.
Makes me more than uncomfortable! Knowing I might be welcoming into my home a potential crime on my person or property.
OK, I have a misdemeanor. Should I be barred?
you guys are paranoid in the extreme---do you even know what an enumerator does?---they go to each residence that has failed to return the completed form---a random selection of completed forms are also fact checked, or audited, by quality control people---
if you are worried that some "criminal" will come to your door, then fill in the data and return the census form so noone has to come to your door---criminals that haven't been caught yet don't have a record to find in a background check---those who have been caught and have paid their debt to society should no longer be penalized in any fashion especially by withholding jobs---persons who have been convicted but are still part of the system will not be out of their cells to participate in any case---
this is a dumb concern and just furthers the anxiety---
YES!
Perhaps you have never had a robbery or burglery. I have. Not fun and these guys got off with a slap on the wrist. So you think we should forgive and forget. NO WAY!!!!!!!
I think it is really easy to judge others. 1 out of every 31 adults has a criminal record.
You can be a law abiding citizen, and still get a criminal record.
Wait until it happens to you.
I do not wish Ill on others, but when it comes to jason chaffetz, I see a man who needs to have more compassion for others, and is in great need of humbling.
I'd rather someone without a criminal record get a JOB with the Census than someone with one.
We shouldn't worry about who is coming representing the census.
It's not that the ex-con uses the census job to rush past the doorway to pillage and plunder. It's that the ex-con knows people who will pay for addresses which are promising targets. It's not that the fingerprinting doesn't work. It's that it's too easy to smudge the prints so that the fingerprint evaluation doesn't happen at all, and the background check defaults back to the fake name that was used in the first place. It's not that an occasional ex-con will slip through. It's that the screening process has such a glaring vulnerability that it will attract more than its fair share of ex-cons to exploit it. ///
You want an ex-con at your home for anything? Raise your hand. let them have some other kind of work. In this economy lots of good people available.
I seriously doubt that serious criminals will be hired. Come on, Congressman Clown. Besides, thsi bill will never make it through Congress. First, it is filed too late to realistically make it through the process, and second, you are such an outsider that the majority has not respect for you and will not lift a finger for you. Further, if someone has committed a non-serious crime and has paid for it, we should forgive and let them move forward with their lives. I would bet that it the truly Christian thing to do. But then, you are about show, and not good policy and leadership.
"Anonymous @ 5:30 p.m." may wish to invite these people into his/her home, but most of us would prefer someone without a background that may put us at risk. Remember, it was just such a person who kidnapped the Smart girl after her parents, out of the kindness of their hearts, invited him to do some work for them.
I took the exam today and received 19 pts out of 28. I didn't answer the last 3 questions (ran out of time). The exam is not difficult, but it's the pressure of time. They said you must get 10 questions right in order to pass. I hope they don't mind that I got a D.U.I. 6 years ago. Time will tell. They consider scores, veteran status, bilingual skills, etc in order to hire you. Good thing I got 5 points for serving in the Navy.
When i was 20 i got a misdeameanor possesion of alcohol charge for drinking one beer. I paid my debt and Now I am 23 and dont drink and I am a full time college student.. Should I be punished by not getting a job??? I bet more than half of you drink alcohol regularly if not are alcoholics... you should be ashamed
My record was clean enough to work for law enforcement until I was injured and I decided I could not wrestle with bad guys anymore. In 2001 while going through a divorce I was pulled over and had a BAC of .063. I plea bargained to careless driving and weaving. Now in 2010 I was told by the census that I am not eligible for a position. I do not understand how they figure I am a risk to people as an enumerator. I'm a little po'd at my government right now.
