Only, Upstairs knows why...

Only Thee Almighty knows why he lets disasters like these occur on his Children. Maybe to change our ways and to Turn to Him......

Gary Chevalier

It is too bad the American Consulate in Haiti is not living up to its charge to let referred children go home. Shame on whoever is gumming up the works!

Mr. Wright

TO: Only, Upstairs knows why: Or perhaps this God theory is all a bunch of deceit.

People who explot human misery to promote their own brand of religion, telling victims that they deserve it, I believe, are an affront to God and man. Go back and read your New Testament, especially the Sermon on the Mount.

There are a lot of Christians showing their faith by their works helping the people of Haiti.

re: mr. wright

dude. not the right time to fight that battle.

and the band played on

the earth has a spirit to , katrina was only a warning 34 yrs ago i was told that it was predicted the wasatch was due in 50 yrs ...times about up so dont get so arrogant as we is on a old sea bed and will be mixed like a bunch of biscuits too! the attitude is just ripe for it!

Truth and Love

re: mr. wright: "dude. not the right time to fight that battle."
TO THE CONTRARY: This is the perfect time to "fight that battle". God's silence and lack of help in this tragedy is absolutely STUNNING. Nothing new here. Nonetheless, I ask God(s) to bless these victims in Haiti!

From Heavenly Father 2 Joseph Sm

This is from the Joseph Smith translation of Luke 21:25

"And he answered them, and said, In the generation in which the times of the Gentiles shall be fulfilled, there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations with perplexity, like the sea and the waves roaring. The earth also shall be troubled, and the waters of the great deep;"

Tsunamis? Earth quakes in diverse places? nations with perplexity?

These really are signs for the wicked to see so they can change and for good people to become better. Joseph Smith was a prophet!

FYI

I have never seen a nonwhite Mormon missionary until I saw this picture of this missionary in Haiti read this article. I always thought of missionaries as white kids from the USA.

To FYI :)

Kinda cool huh? There are missionaries from all over the world now.

RE: Mr. Wright

What you have decided to believe is definitely the easier thing to believe. After all, in our mortal minds, it makes no sense why an all-powerful, all-knowing, and all-loving God would let this kind of thing happen. And, of course you are free to believe whatever you want.

However, I believe that if we look at things from a bigger perspective than just this life on earth, we can see at least a little bit more of the big picture. I will not try to say exactly why this sort of thing happens because I don't know. All I will say is that I have had enough experiences in my life to allow me to say that I know there is an all-powerful, all-knowing, and yes, all-loving God. He knows why these sort of things must happen. And after this life is over, we will be able to see the big picture and know as well. For now, though, I will just trust that all will work out fairly in the eternal perspective for everyone. And I will do what I can to help those who have had trials in their lives.

to fyi

my first missionary Comp was a black kid from the southern states i still keep in touch with him that was almost years ago now

From a Mormon in Africa

Yes, there are many missionaries of many colors doing the Lord's work. Both in Africa and in the US.

Hope

I am filled with hope when I see the way the nations of the world can cooperate to help in time of crisis. I only wish we could figure out how to do it on a day-to-day basis. There is much good in the world, and tragedy can bring that to light.

Convert

God does not MAKE these things happen. He created the laws of nature, and he lets them take their course. He is not punishing these people. He can do anything, but most of the time He stays out of the process. If the forces of nature come together for a hurricane, tornado, or earthquake, they occur. If rivits fail on an airplane's wing and the plane crashes, it is not because He wanted to kill those on board, THINGS just happen. Sometimes He does intervene, maybe as an answer to prayers, but I have no idea when or why this happens. I do know that He is a loving God!

To FYI

You have been missing out. For decades I have known and/or worked with missionaries of many nationalities and color. One has to remember this is an international church and we grow leaders in all nations regardless of race or nationality. Being a missionary is one way leaders-to-be (for the church and for their communities) are developed.

Mmmmeat.

Mmmmm... turkey chunks. Great photos in those stories. Now's a great time to go to the LDS canneries and donate some time.

Mormons are Great People!

I have known a few
They think of other people shelter basic needs..
I Thank for All you have done.
In the Worlds Crisis to support those EarthQuake Victims that have loss everything in thier lives

Is this your god?

From Heavenly Father 2 Joseph Sm wrote:

If your god is the type of creature who would TERRORIZE people into believing in him and coming to him for salvation, then he is not a god, he is a MONSTER! He does not deserve to be worshipped, he deserves to be overthrown and eliminated!

LDS Commentary?

NO. These are brothers & sisters of us all. They need our help. Other than the color of their skin are they different than me? NO! Some might be helping for a prideful reasons? I doubt it. The least we can all do is pray for their efforts, pray for the victims, pray for compassion in our own hearts. I returned yesterday from Orlando where we put together a relief mission to an orphanage. Everyone I worked with was ONLY concerned about those kids, nothing else. The religion of the victims and those helping them mean nothing. We are ALL Gods children, PERIOD.
