What an idiot.

Stenar

I bet you can't name one "great thing" Killpack has done for this state.

Good one!

"Republicans, we pride ourselves in taking care of our problems."

Ha ha! Good one! *wipes tears from eyes*

...Oh...was he being serious?

If you have nothing to hide why would you not submit to a breathalyzer test?

The blood test will show the results.
The GOP, do as we say, not as we do.

A Republican in Utah?

Drinking? Thought only those darned liberal Demos in the Beehive did that kind of carousing. Huh.

A Flaw in thier Community..

Sheldon is a good man. He made a mistake. Let him suffer the consequences just like any one would his mistake, but I think he still has a lot to offer the people of Utah.

Applicable Law

Utah State Constitution

Article VI, Section 8. [Legislator, privilege from arrest.]

Members of the Legislature, in all cases except treason, felony or breach of the peace, shall be privileged from arrest during each session of the Legislature, for fifteen days next preceding each session, and in returning therefrom; and for words used in any speech or debate in either house, they shall not be questioned in any other place.

Great job, UHP!

I was driving this stretch of roadway last night about that same time! THANK YOU for getting this selfish drunk OFF THE ROAD! I could care less who you are Killpack, what you do personally, politically, socially.... but am grateful you were arrested and booked into the drunk tank and OFF THE ROAD while I was driving it! My family also thanks the UHP for their outstanding work!

mountain eagle

He needs to resign!

Don't You Dare!

If you don't know him personally don't you dare begin to judge him or think you "know" him because he is a public official. You would never want anyone to do that to you.

If you do know him you wouldn't be writing those things.

My best wishes and prayers go out to Senator Kilpack and his family. This is a difficult issue to address and I wish only the best for them.

YourConstituent

Hey Sheldon. Hope you can pull your act together and be ok even when you lose your political position. We expected more from you. Too bad you disappointed. I do like how you accepted responsibility though. Keep your head up!

What was this stupid man thinking? He could have killed someone, thank goodness he didn't. I'm glad he was caught. He needs to step down from office immediately.

In my opinion DUI's which result in deaths (gratefully this one did not) should be a death penalty offence as driving drunk is a premeditated act. DUI should always carry jail time, the very first time.

@ Stenar

Senator Killpack pushed through tax payer $ for the Rio Tinto stadium. Was that a "great thing" or not?

Nice...

even our lawmakers can abide by our laws. Sad is what it is.

Idiot

"Waddoups said. Elected officials have lost their positions "on much worse issues than this in other places," he said"

Much worse issues, tell me Mr. Waddoups what exactly is worse than driving under the influence and placing the driving public at risk of death and injury and by a man who knows the pain of loss at the hands of a drunk driver. I think that makes it even worse. As the aunt of a young man killed by a drunk driver, I say Killpack should leave his political post immediately and should go to jail if found guilty as he does not seem to be disputing that he was drunk.

Only cause you know his name...

Why don't all of you people that have such harsh statements for him ever comment on the average Joe who drinks and drives...people need to start commenting this much when their friend or neighbor has the same issues...

Slimeball

Sheldon is NOT a good man. He is a low-dealing slimeball. Even the lobbyist community who relies on him knows this.

Senator Dan Liljenquist

I serve with Sheldon Killpack in the Senate. He is one of the finest and most principled leaders I have ever known.

John

"Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone"

However, that said.....

It shouldn't take a caucus to decide to remove him from his leadership post. A real man, a contrite man, who is truly sorry, would step down, and show that he is honest and sincere about his apology for such bad judgment.

Seems like everyone in the public eye figures crying and saying I am sorry, is all that is needed for forgiveness, but forgiveness comes from making amends for what you did, and taking the responsibility of it all. Mark McGwire cries on TV because he took steroids and shattered hallowed records, but I am not seeing him telling MLB to remove his name from the books because his numbers were tainted.

No good parent would just accept "I'm sorry" from a child who broke a window. We make them replace the window, work for the money, or provide some other type of effort, as a way to show true contrition.

Killpack needs to learn this, and be a real man about it,not just someone worried about re-election.
