I contracted

Hep B in a hospital in Utah--from a transfusion of blood products back almost 40 years ago. I'm just glad it wasn't 20 years later, or it might have been AIDS. Infected blood can be a huge source of passing viruses, and so long as blood is being purchased (and have you ever noticed WHERE many of the clinics that pay for blood are located?), there will be at-risk people selling their blood.

Fortunately, I have had relatively no serious side-effects of the Hep B, except that I can't donate blood--ever--and I have a fairly rare blood type. I wish people carrying diseases could be a bit more conscious of the damage they can do to totally innocent people--children, for example.
