Thank you, law enforcement

Many thanks to all law enforcement officials who put their lives on the line every day to keep the rest of us safe.

May we never forget those who have paid the ultimate price of service in the line of duty.

We take you too much for granted. Saying thanks isn't enough, but just know you are appreciated.

And how!

Washington Mom

I live in western Washington where since Halloween we've seen 6 officers senselessly murdered and 2 more wounded in the line of duty. NINE CHILDREN are now without a parent. Horrible! Although none of these officers were working alone when the shootings occurred, still, NO law enforcement person in this day and age should EVER have to patrol alone. The very least we can for those who try so hard to protect us is provide them with partners on every shift and the best equipment available with which to do their jobs. Citizens, INSIST that your law enforcement agencies have these things - it could mean the difference between life or death for someone who is much loved. My heart goes out to Josie Fox's family. She shouldn't have died out there, and certainly not alone.

What happened was a tragedy and a heinous crime. My condolences to the officer's family and friends.

Having lived in rural communities in and outside of Utah, however, I musit say that risks can run both ways. Many rural cops can be more aggressive than their city counterparts because, as stated in the article, they're far away from anyone to see. On the flip side, they can also be more laid-back. I've met both, and being pulled over by an aggressive rural cop is a frightening thing. Disagree if you want, but it's a serious problem.

Ditto.

911 Dispatcher

As a 911 dispatcher you never know what danger exists on the other end of the line, our officers walk into these dangers daily, from traffic stops that lead to warrants of arrest to drugs and alcohol. Law enforcement officers need more appreciation from the community. The regular citizens do not understand how safe they keep us. Thank you troopers, deputies and officers for all of your hard work. May you all be safe!

Gina Wilson

The men an women of law enforcement are true heroes. To be willing to put their lives on the line everyday to protect and serve the people who often show little appreciation, is a sacrifice that few people are willing to make. So next time you are inconvenienced by that speeding stop, or traffic violation when you are in a hurry, remember what this officer walking up to your car has to have going through their head. Remember that they left work today not knowing if they will make it home to their family, simply because they are doing their job. Think about how you would feel if this was your reality every day. If you are wrong, say that you are wrong, and tell them thank you for the job they do, the risks they take.

Good article, but I question the wisdom of letting everyone in the world know how long it takes for a backup to arrive, and that in some areas the radio doesn't even work well.

This is a tough job. My deepest gratitude to those who do it.

Thank you officers, from Utah, and all over the country who put yourselves in harms way everyday for us. I appreciate your sevice, and thank God that you make my life so much safer.

Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

This article points out the risk in allowing liberal judges on the bench. Light sentences and easy paroles only serve to put the bad guys back on the street. The man who killed 4 police officers recently in Washington state was a career criminal who was pardoned by a governor and allowed to be on the street by a liberal Democrat judge after raping a child. Keep all the bad guys in jail for as long as we possibly can.

And to those that loss
thier life in the Line of Duty~

RE: Wayne Rout

Wayne you failed to mention that the governor that pardoned that individual was christian conservative Republican Mike Huckabee. Before you bash on liberal Democrats I suggest you show both sides for what they are!

Keep the roads safe guys and keep up the good work!

StrikeOut

Personally I like the 3 strikes and you're out rule. But it should be 3 strikes of ANY level of violence towards another (except self defense obviously) and you are out of this mortal existence. Taken out of the game for good. I'm all for forgiveness, love, and trying to help people rehabilitate, but after even one serious violent offense, I don't think there is much hope. Some people are just evil. Wolves. Just like some people are just good. Sheepdogs. Most people are just sheeple.
