Not playing Gaines when Sloan should have WAS a mistake. This kid needs to be out there long enough to get comfortable so that he can score. He's missing nearly all of his shots because he's pressing. Sloan should give him a chance to prove whether the Jazz should keep him.

I was disappointed in how little Kyle played, considering how well he shot. Not that he needed extended minutes each time he got on the floor, but he should have been on the floor more minutes overall, especially late in the game. NO ONE ELSE could shoot last night. Sloan should have recognized Kyle was ON!

This team is so discombobulated from so many line-up changes that they can't even concentrate enough to make simple layups. It'll be after the All-Star break before this team can get any continuity going, if that soon.

If Sloan has any smarts, he'll put Matthews back as a starter and bring Miles off the bench. He might even benefit from starting AK over Brewer. AK plays better when he plays more. A Brewer-Miles relief duo could provide a good back-up spark.

Lost hope

I have given up all hope on this team. I can't remember a Jazz team more timid and inconsistent. It wouldn't matter if Williams could play the Jazz just don't have what it takes to win tonight. NO NEED TO EVEN WATCH THE GAME JAZZ LOSE SORRY

re: purple

Oh please!!

If a player does not have a regular lineup on the floor with him then he can't make layups? What planet are you from?

Zack Randolph missed multiple point blank layups--I'm sure it was due to their coach having the wrong lineup on the floor with him too. Good grief what a ridiculous statment!!

Blah blah about Gaines. People act like this backup is going to make all the difference. He is a backup for pete sake and in our offense the backup is not required to come down and dominate the ball every possession. All he has to do is initiate the set with a pass and then step aside. Everyone is required to move and pass which does not require the PG to do everything.

You are making mountains out of mole hills.

Price really competes but he is basically a disaster at running sets in our offense. He is too willy nilly and in the first half he had us looking like a street ball team.

Calgary Jazz

I wonder when Sloan will address AK's playing time? 19 min???? That is retarded - after he recorded almost 5X5 in 28 min? it is obvious to everybody that AK should play at least 35-40 min a game, but no Sloan prefers to destroy talent by sitting it on the bench.

Ed

I, too, wonder about the AK situation. I love Sloan but the lack of playing time really gives me some doubts.

re: re purple

I think you are missing the point about Gaines. This guy was playing in only his 2nd NBA game, while trying to learn the team's system. He has a 10 day contract. If the Jazz really want to make an honest evaluation of him (which I'm guessing they do, given the injury situation with DW and Price), then Sloan needs to go ahead and play him those few minutes. Ten days isn't much time to prove one's self... especially if Sloan isn't going to give him a chance. With DW out and Price hurting as well, they might as well make the most of this short-term signing and see what the guy can do. There is the 'confidence' factor to consider as well. I'm not saying Sloan should baby the guy (like he does with CJ), but come on... playing his first couple of NBA games, the nerves have to be there... and a little morale boost from the coach probably wouldn't hurt.

STEVE-O

Everybody I was watching the game with said as long as CJ doesn't get the ball on the last play the Jazz should have a decent shot at overtime! Well... CJ gets it and jack-knifes a terrible off balance shot, only to get baptized by Gasol! I wasn't even that disappointed because I almost expect it at this point.
Kyle should have taken the shot OR CJ should have just pulled up for a jumper when he was open.

Calgary Jazz...

I agree with you completely. AK plays well when he gets consistent minutes. I also think he plays better at the 4 than Millsap! You'll notice that AK's near 5x5 was a result of playing the 4 spot that night. He can be down in the paint where he can block and alter shots and get rebounds. I would say cut Memo and Millsaps's minutes and get AK in the game!!!

To those that say AK needs to be traded.... his salary is too high and NOBODY is going to take it. So we've got him for another year and a half. Let the guy play!

Gaines

Will serve out his ten days and then the Jazz will audition someone else. D-League stars don't shine in the NBA very often. Remember Almond Joy?

Fix It

There are alot of things that need fixing. Starting AK or Korver, when healthy, would be a good start. Everyone plays better when they have more minutes tho. How does one fix that? The answer must be a trade. CJ is the most likely candidate.
