I am a practicing eye doctor and am surprised at some of the innaccuracies of this article.
First, the author states that "half of the patients in whom glaucoma is diagnosed have already lost vision in one eye." That is simply not true. There may be some decreased vision in one eye more than the other, but they poor eye is usually very functional. Complete vision loss in one eye is found in only a small fraction of patients.
Second, "glaucoma is a very painful condition". Except for rare cases, glaucoma is not a painful at all. That is why so many people go undiagnosed.
Be careful with medical advice. Just be sure to have regular eye exams to make sure that your eyes are healthy and your vision is good.
