Roberto Miramontes Roman, accused of shooting and killing a Utah deputy is a illegal alien. He’s been deported three times. Maybe he should be treated as a "enemy combatant".

Rewarding the people who come to this country illegally and break our laws on a daily basis is a bad precedent to set. Let's quit pretending the illegals are dragged here against their will and are sacrificing themselves for the good of the American economy. Nothing could be further from the truth. They come here illegally of their own will for one reason. Their own benefit. Period. And they are putting millions of Americans out of work in the process. People who are on unemployment and welfare and are being supported by the taxpayers.

Just come to the state service offices and you will see 90% illegals asking for services for their children every day!!

I would not class people in unemployment in the same category as illegals or welfare recipients. Keep in mind that people on unemployment DID have jobs, and their taxes essentially paid for the unemployment they are collecting.

Further, After watching a family member by marriage from France try and become a legal citizen, I have no support whatsoever for illegal immigrants. It is a long, tedious process and anyone who tries to bypass it for their own gain shold be shipped off.

They are scared to death to do the right thing and send the criminals home for fear of offending clueless people who have been led to believe that illegals are an "economic necessity" and "vital to the economy". What a crock. In order to believe this fantasy, you have to believe the work that is performed by illegals wouldn't get done if they didn't do it. In other words you have to belive that; hotels are going to stop offering maid service; restaurants are going to stop bussing tables and washing dishes; farmers are goint to stop farming; builders will stop building; contractors will stop contracting, etc. etc. etc.

Illegal Immigration should be stopped. However, that does not solve the problem of the ones that are already here and integrated in the society.
I am quite certain that Bishop Wester is not implying that we should legalize the rapists, however, if we did so, we could punish them as we see fit rather then returning them to their countries only for them to sneak back in and live to rape another day.

BTW - the only thing that's "not working" is the ENFORCEMENT of the law. There's ABSOLUTELY NOTHING wrong with the existing law EXCEPT the lack of enforcement!

You want a plan? Okay. Here is a plan that is going to work. Illegals are here because they are allowed to benefit from coming here. That is the only reason they come. So, how do we get them to go home and prevent others from coming? Simple. We do not allow them to benefit from coming here illegally. No jobs. No housing. No benefits. When they learn that they will not be allowed to benefit from being here, they will go home. Of course, that will take political courage and there ain't a lot of that going around in case you didn't notice....

My Husband is French. It cost us ALOT of money to get his temp resident card. It cost us ALOT more to get his Work permit. Then, 2 years later, had to PAY EVEN MORE to get the temporary status removed.

The recession would end if the illegals had to pay the same fees to stay here. Give them all 90 days to come up with some cash or give them a one way bus ticket back to the boarder.

Security at the boarders should be tightened immensely. It is not the illegal families that bug me as much as the illegals who are dealing drugs and stealing and forming criminal gangs. Give the families who are working time to get it together or make arrangements to stay/go. But lynch the illegals who are murderers and drug dealers.

That is the number of foreigners living in this country illegally. That is roughly the population
of Colorado, Arizona & Wyoming combined. How many rapes, robberies, murders and other crimes are committed in these states each year? And why would anybody believe that illegals would commit fewer of these crimes when we know they have no qualms about breaking other laws. Not to mention you are also going to have an addtional 12,000,000 people worth of traffic, pollution, resource consumption, waste, etc etc etc.

Illegal immigration of this magnitude (or any other, in my opinion) is just completely insane.

JUST LOOK AT ALL THE CRIME THAT CROSSES THE BORDERS TO OUR CLEAN STATE--This alone should be enough evidence on what we should be doing. "Please" stop all this useless talk and nonsense. I'm tired of the same old whiners day after day who do nothing but whine whine!!!!

The timing of these comments by this Catholic Bishop could not be worse. We just lost a decent, law enforcement officer at the hands of an illegal alien and this Bishop is suggesting we offer amnesty to illegals and a path to citizenship. Talk about salt in the wound. This is so offensive to me. I am a LEGAL immigrant, who came from poverty but who waited in line for years, followed the laws, paid the fees and learned English. I even paid out of state tuition for my education. America has given me everything, the least I could do was obey the law. Also my religion teaches me to uphold the laws of the land. I am not afraid of the authorities and my children can hold their heads high and be proud. I want all illegals removed so they can get in line behind the millions who are trying to do the right thing and come here legally. Stop whining that's it's hard to come here legally, yes it is, but it's worth it and you can keep your integrity intact.

I almost can't stand to read these comments - you CANNOT lump everyone into the same category. I will grant you that there are bad members and there's no doubt that something has to be done about them but the kid who was brought here when he was a child isn't the same as a rapist.

What do we do with those who were brought here not of their own accord?

If your ability to feed your family, keep your home, and educate your children was being impacted by all of these illegals, you would probably feel different. While you are at it could you please get me some free health care. I have to pay for mine, while my competition (illegals) does not. thanks for thinking of me.
