This is great news. At least it was 25-30 years ago, when the information was first published.
The best form of folic acid to take is the methylized form, technically methylhydroxyfolate, or simply Methylfolate.
Many people (I've heard as much as 40%) have a gene form that does not readily convert folic acid used in most supplements to this active form. Even though the amount converted may be enough to prevent birth defects, the methyl form is more certain.
