MR BOJANGLES

When Hillary ran, I thought...anybody but Hillary. Now look what we have!!

Mr "Do nothing" liberal Bennett...needs to retire. I just hope that this "Lee" guy doesn't turn out to be another replacement just as bad.

Please!!!!Please!!! Will someone decent run against Hatch!!!!

james duckworth

it is time we get rid of all the old toads in the senate and congress
why do you think we are in the situation we are in today ??? if you do what you have always done you will get the same as you have gotten
VOTE OUT ALL THE INCUMBENT'S
DON'T JUST BOW YOUR HEADS AND VOTE WITH THE WARD!
BE A REAL PERSON AND VOTE THEM ALL OUT

Great! Bennett added 26 earmarks to the so called "stimulus" bill. It is time for him and every other politician that does this, or takes bribes to vote for the health care bill, to be thrown out of office!

Bennett4Senate

Go Bob!

Senator Lee?

I had a class with Mike Lee back in the day at BYU. I got to know him fairly well. I'd say the same thing about him that Oliver Wendell Holmes said about Franklin Roosevelt:

"A second-class intellect but a first-class temperament."

Good luck, Mike.

Chachi

Don't make Senator Bennett the scapegoat. Face it: the Democrats are in power, not the Republicans, and blaming Senator Bennett is not going to solve the problems the Democrats have created. It's just going to weaken the Republican Party.

Old toads or not, we need to have elected officials sent to Washington that have a power base to truly represent Utah and our peculiar needs and circumstances. Bennett has been there for the state and we need his experience and leadership not someone who has no record to indicate just how they will be able to effectively represent Utah. The knee jerk reaction to throw out EVERYONE is exactly the oppsoite of what we need to do. Senator Bennett is not a liberal. Maybe we ought to be looking at the total record not just the one or two that we might have a special interest in. DC is a fgood ole boys club and right now we need a good ole boy who can stand up and fight for the pricniples and ideals that at one time made this country GREAT!

David

I've been hoping that Mike Lee would enter the race. I've looked at all the candidates so far (not just the GOP candidates) and he looks far and away the best of the bunch.

Dear Mr. Bojangles

It seems like these are your complaints with Sen. Bennett:

1. He doesn't do anything. (So you haven't researched his record, and you just figure that you probably would've heard about it if he had done something. Sorry, but he's a member of a legislature. When he's in the minority, there's only so much he can do.)

2. He stands for liberalism. (Not only does this contradict your first complaint, but it's laughable. Look up his ratings on Project Vote Smart.)

SF 14

As a current delegate, I can't wait to meet and hear from each of those running. It's looking like it should be a good race.

20/20

Chachi (10:14), you're right, Senator Bob can't do a lot with the Democrats in power. But the fact is that he did nothing during the years that Republicans held the Senate. He has no loyalty to Utah, and his wife can't get enough of Washington. Like Hatch, Bennett won his seat shouting that his opponent had been in office too long. Want a little salt and pepper as you eat those words, Bob?
Let's replace Bob Bennett this November, and then turn our attention to replacing Orrin Hatch.

We don't need a Republican or Democratic senator because they ruin everything. It's time all of us started to respect the constitution by voting Libertarian. But people like their own stupid partys more than they do the constitution. Republicans and Democrats are leadinf their delusional followers off a cliff.

Not another young...

candidate who really hasn't accomplished much in life blinded by ambition. Mike may be a good candidate in 10 years but he should first accomplish something before he runs. Other than serving for a short time in the Huntsman Administration and then clerking what has he done. Go be a husband and father for a decade while building a career then you will have the life experience and foundation to be a senator. If he is elected, he will plan to be back there for 25 years and just another career politicians. We need people who have built careers, families, etc. and then give back not the other way around. Mike Lee, Josh Romney, etc. I am seeing a pattern here.

To "Not Another"

What exactly would you like him to accomplish before serving as Senator? Mike is 38, which may be young for Washington but it's not really that green. He has been an Assistant U.S. Attorney, a Supreme Court clerk, General Counsel to the governor and is now a partner at the largest international firm with a Salt Lake office. He has three school-age kids. As a lawyer, what more is there to accomplish in a career other than pure length of service?

Go Underdogs!

How long before we have BB4S ripping apart his next victim courageous enough to step up to the dragon protecting his golden treasure?

Utahans cheering for the underdog! We are very aware BB only thinks of Utah when he thinks of his re-election. D.C. has engulfed him & he's been away from us too long.

Underdogs- you will be supported more than you know! Just don't tear each other apart in the process, be strong, be prepared for your life to be turned upside down, don't let BB4S win!

Reality

Mike Lee is at best a bench warmer and has no qualifications or resume to warrant being a Senator. Just because you annoint yourself a constitutional expert doesn't make you so. And I, for one, am sick of people with certain last names in Utah thinking that entitles them to a position or makes them automatically qualified.

I hate nepotism

Utah, a pretty, great state of nepotism. - Jon Huntsman, thin resume, rich & famous Daddy- Good enough for Governor; Josh Romney, thin resume, rich & famous Daddy - Good enough for the House; Matthew Holland, thin resume (please - American Heritage teacher at BYU?), famous-Apostle father- Good enough for UVU president; Tom Lee - Daddy started the law school so he is on the staff - Mike Lee the same deal. Sorry the rest of us didn't have friends on the Supreme Court to give us clerkships.

Bennett is more of the same, just in the past (Daddy Senator Wallace Bennett and Grandfather in law David O McKay. In the Church they call it "inspiration" but we all know it is nepotism. It is really amazing it happens in government as well. Pay heed to your Masters Utahns.

term limits

Until there are term limits in the senate, I would be extremely hesitant to vote out the current senator.
Really I do not think republican vs democrat is that different.
As a state we need to leave our senator in and keep them there.
The longer we leave them in the better they can protect us as a state when needed.
Do you want every acre of land being made a national monument?
Want every bit of nuclear waste dumped in utah?
Want laws passed that say we have to pay for health care and other state do not?

Brad in Clearfield

Mike Lee is one of the most honorable men that I know. Currently in our country we need someone who will stand up for the righteous causes, someone who will stand up for the constitution, stand up for states rights, stand up for limited and responsible government and someone who will speak out against those who want the federal government expanded. Mike will do this.
I have known Mike since he was 16 years old. Never have I come across a finer individual who will represent our state better than Mike Lee. He is simply a great person, a great father and a patriot who understands the Constitution and can speak in terms that will bring others on board with a return to it's precepts.
I will campaign for Mike and Vote for Mike. I hope you do too.

re: Cherilyn Eagar

I agree that Cherilyn Eagar is the only one running who has supported and been active in fighting for conservative values for the last 30 years. [That includes Bennett]

Lee lost case with census bureau. Is getting eaten for lunch defending Energy Solutions. Worked for Huntsman. Friend of Shurtleff. And this guy is trying to pick up the conservative vote?

"He will be endorsed by former Gov. Norm Bangerter and former U.S. Rep. Jim Hansen."

Last I knew Jim Hansen was in congress for 22 years or 11 terms. I don't want another 11 term congressman, or a 3 term senator.

Might as well be endorsed by David Leavitt for all the good it will do him.

Bangerter and Hansen were hardly a change from the establishment mentality. It looks like Lee is trying to directly take votes from Bennett.

Did Lee miss the memo that Bennett doesn't have very many votes left to take?
