Guardians of the NightTrust in me my friend for I am your comrade.
I will protect you with my last breath.
When all others have left you
And the loneliness of the night closes in,
I will be at your side.
Together we will conquer all obstacles
And search out those who might wish harm to others.
All I ask of you is compassion,
The caring touch of your hands.
It is for you that I will selflessly give my life
And spend my nights unrested.
Although our days together
May be marked by the passing of the seasons.
Know that each day at your side is my reward.
My days are measured by
The coming and going of your footsteps.
I anticipate them at the opening of the door.
You are the voice of caring when I am ill.
The voice of authority over me when I've done wrong.

Marie, ==RIP KODA==

How sad...

K9 Betsy

My K9 partner Betsy and I are truly saddened and sorry for your loss. You go to work every day with a partner who doesn't argue, doesn't complain, doesn't want anything but your approval and a little praise for a job well done. A partner who wouldn't think twice about giving their life for yours. And it sounds like that's exactly what he did. Rest in peace Koda.... and Godspeed!! You are a hero!

Odd

Geez! You people need to mourn the dog and stop acting like children.

For all of those questioning the shooting of the suspect perhaps I can shed alittle light on your puzzeling views. An officer in uniform is an officer in uniform period. Their is no difference in the degree of a slain officer be it K-9 or human. The perp shot and killed an officer of the law. The perp made the decision to take it to the next level and paid for it by losing his own life. I applaud the police and their actions following the lose of their fellow officer. With that being said I have a question. Was the K-9 officer wearing a ballistic vest. These officers need to be protected just as human officers are, and their is no excuse for the dog not having proper protection. I hope that the departments who do not have proper vests for their K-9 officers look into some of the charitable organisations out their and funding available to purchase these vests.

i am so sorry for loss of a human life, no matter you criminal or non criminal. my prayers go out to the family.

It is sad to say this all happened. But it did. To the handler I apologize. Nothing anyone says can bring Koda back and I validate you completely and fully. To others writing on this site, I hope you listen with an open heart and an open mind. Tevita was a good man that made very stupid decisions. I am not here to justify his actions nor here to say what he did was right. I'm writing to let all of you know we are mourning for both parties. Its sad to see how many people come and judge others. I used to be a person like that until this happened to me. Now i understand why I was taught to not talk about others. If I have offended anyone by saying this i do apologize sincerely from the heart. A life is a life whether it is a Dogs or a Mans. You have no right to wish upon a life to be taken for you did not give that life....

For those who talk badly about Tevita, I am sorry you didnt get to know the kind and loving man I know. Sometimes people hit rock bottom and just do dumb foolish things. He was a good man who decided to just throw it away once he lost everything that really meant anything to him. I apologize again. sincerely from the heart. I hope Koda's family is okay. My family will keep you in our prayers we will also be at the high school for the service. As for Vita, I hope you hear me, Im sorry for not being there for you like i should have. Im sorry for turning my back on you the way i did. I love you so much and I hope you find the way up there. Im at least happy your able to learn about the gospel before the 2cd coming comes... Ofa atu Koda and Vita. Again I apologize to anyone offended to my words.

Please if anyone is offended know that i did not mean offense and it wasnt my intentions to hurt or to disrespect anyone. Love to Koda and his family. I'm sorry for your loss. To everyone else, please just stop the comments please please. I beg you. Whether Tevita deserves this or not I know My Family did nothing to deserve this. Please just stop. The more the story goes on the more people throw us down with it. We are mourning too. I hope you guys just take it into consideration. We cry for both. We mourn for both. We validate for both. I ask you please.

Such a loss, We own 5 working cattle dogs, these dogs as well as K9 police dogs become part of your every day life, they are family, when you lose one, it like losing part of your family, this was a tragic mishap, But I am sure Koda was doing what he loved to do when the good lord took him, I am sure God needing such a fine dog to help him in his endeavors. God bless Koda may he rest in peace.

Are you people still going at it over this sniffer dog and its ridiculous funeral? I cannot believe any of you people. You folks need mental help.

@ 3rd Try

I think the authorities need to investigate this officer killing a person over this dead dog. That is so very wrong. This is getting too insane and unbelievable. The publicity over this dead dog is making people question our police force. If the police are this unstable why should we support them. Although I'm sure there are a great many sane and normal officers. They can't all be like this.

Chris

I Met koda because the handelers son is one of my friends and it is so sad that this had to happen i dont understand why someone would do this, RIP koda! You did good.

Nick

Hey @ 3rd try...i think you need to learn what you are speaking about..due to the fact that the k-9 is considered an officer therefor when the perp opened fire on him thats opening fire on an officer so return fire is unhesitated..do a little research before opening your mouth

What would you do?

If indeed you were a police officer rounding a blind corner after a suspect and two gun shots go off from that suspect...would you not return fire to protect yourself?

Oh, good grief....

GROW UP!!!!
