Here we see the power grab in action and the out of control Republicans are eating their own-- absolute power breds absolute corruption.
The current Senate President was very irrate when the Judicial Council advertised to fill vacancies last year and insisted they delay advertising to save money. Now, he is strangely silent when the Judicial Council recommends to re-allocate resources to save tax payers money. All the Judicial Council can is look at workload and recommend a change. No change can occur unless the 2nd District vacancy is delayed so the Legislature has an opportunity to act. Having been closley associated with this process for over 30 years, I know what I am talking about.
Squawk Squawk! Republicans!!! Squawk Squawk! Out of control!!! Squawk Squawk! Corruption! Squawk Squawk!Power grab! Squawk Squawk!!!! Squawwwwwwwwwwwkkkk!
Somebody needs to change the broken record.
For the last three years the Judicial Counsel's top priority has been to get another Judge in Southern Utah. With the budget shortfalls the only way to get another Judge is to move one from another district. It isn't just judicial vacancy's that are not being filled. The Judicial branch has, since the end of 2008, been on a hiring freeze or a 6 week hiring delay. Positions aren't being filled period.
