They were probably trying to stay warm.

I thought SLC had a shelter...?

Tina

The shelters are full this time of year, and there is not near enough beds to assist in keeping the homeless warm. More needs to be done. As a community we need to determine how to assist those who are less fortunate than ourselves.

'I thought SLC had a shelter...?'

I think it was maxed out past capacity.

Kevin

I almost tripped over a guy this morning who was asleep in the aisle on the trax train.

Than maybe they need to think about building another shelter, or getting some new land and building a larger shelter. There is money beeing donated every week for the homeless and shelters. I beleive that the homeless problem is growing every day and the shelters they have are out dated in size and man power. I also beleive that they need to look at management of the Roadhome and make some changes in it management teams. They sell drugs in and on the roadhome property a large number people are coming in drunk and bring alocol into the roadhome. Also their are alot of weapons coming into the road home. About 25 years ago the roadhome was ran under another name and it was operated alot better than to day.

people try to do more ... but your friendly neighborhood ACLU won't let them.
Many homeless are mentally ill. but the ACLU won't let the state take care of them against their will. So that leaves us where we are now.

just speculating

I believe that many times during warmer weather, some homeless people are comfortable living the way they do. But I also agree that more needs to be done to help them stay warm during the cold months and rainy weather. Maybe a cement building (that can't catch fire easily) with toilet facilities and warm cots. I don't know. What do you think?

"...and it was operated alot better than to day." "Why do Utahns think that "a lot" is only one word, and that "today" is two words?
