Maybe we should make sure that the flags have large print that say DANGER, so that the birds can read and understand why there are flags on the fences.

Two Hundred dollars a mile times hundred of miles of fencing to do. Sounds like a bunch of money to me, considering that times are tough, and already budgets for governments are not reaching. More taxes? I hope not. I would rather my money go to schools and education instead of birds not smart enough to not fly into a fence in the first place.

Maybe we should spend that money on...say....planting some birds in areas where they thrive?

All the good sage grouse habitat is already occupied by these magnificent birds, so anything we can do to prevent needless mortality helps. About 75 years ago the pronghorn antelope was as endangered as the sage grouse is now, but they were brought back. I hope someday we can see sage grouse as often as we see antelope.
