Don't think I've ever seen two punts like Oregon State had. Way up in the side stands, and one that actually went backwards in the air(the 6-yarder). Funny their punter didn't learn from the first one (the 6-yarder).

Seems BYU must have practiced up in windy Laramie lately. Oregon State players have probably never seen winds like that.

Sweeeeeeeeeeeeet win, boys!

The wind was definitely a factor and I think it favored BYU. BYU's gameplan is to go to their TEs on short passes while OSU likes to go over the top a little more. The wind allowed BYU's safeties to fill gaps and shut down OSU's run game. Good coaching move by BYU. I credit the coaches for not only adjusting to OSU's strengths, but also adjusting to the weather. BYU outcoached, outhustled, and outplayed a team that was four points away from the rose bowl. This is just more evidence that the MWC is a great conference. And in advance of the PAC-10 apologists saying this is just one game, let me remind you that BYU is 3-1 against ranked teams this year. In advance of the PAC-10 apologists saying the MWC is weak at the bottom, let me remind you OSU needed a last second field goal to beat UNLV. The MWC is obviously as good or better than the PAC-10 this year. Hopefully Utah proves me right again tonight.

excellent story, Reporter

Great game, but Bronco needs to learn that Utah State Blue doesn't scare anyone, but Royal Blue does. Go back to the traditional Royal Blue color and tell Nike to take a hike.

Hmmm...

As I recall, there were two teams on that feild. Two teams throwing against the wind. Two teams kicking against the wind. The fact is BYU outplayed OSU in every aspect of the game. Who cares if there was wind? The result would have been the same regardless.

Wind, shmind. Both teams had to play against the wind. One team obviously dealt with it better than the other. Because both teams had to contend with it equally, the wind was neutral in the game and had little bearing on the game.

Way to go Cougs!

13th Man was the wind

In the military, one must consider METT-T: Mission - win the game; Enemy - other (OSU) team (Fast, small, makes money on big plays); Terrain and weather - Wind eliminates / degrades long threat, Troops (big, very strong, good speed, accurate short passing) & Time Available - 60 minutes.

BYU's short passing game was less influenced by the wind. It allowed both teams to concentrate on the short-to-mid range passes and the run. That is BYU's strength, and eliminated the OSU "speed" and deep threat.

Max would have had a better game without the wind, but OSU deep threat would have had an even better game.

Bronco called an outstanding game in those conditions. Both teams worked in the same conditions, but BYU excelled in those conditions.

????

Report stated Oregon State won the toss and elected to kick with the wind...If that were true byu would have had the choice to take the ball again at the half....Byu won the toss and elected to receive thus giving OSU the choice to kick with the wind, and have 2nd half choice.

I don't know who won the toss, but OSU could have differed to the second half, meaning that they would have had the choice to kick with the wind.

Idahoan

I saw little of Jacobsen, at least passes thrown to him. Was he hurt?
