There is one reason and one reason only why the snow is having such a devastating effect on the commute: the legislature has failed to provide adequate funding for snow removal. Instead of wasting money on frivilous projects when this state was experiencing record budget surpluses, the legislature should have saved money for tough times. If the legislature had planned ahead, there would be plenty of money for snow removal and the public would not have to suffer.
You know the state is doing good. I have to drive nearly 200 miles on Utah roads every day and yes at times they need plowing but compared to other places I have lived Utah is not bad. You say they wasted their money on other things. Well, who is to say that those other things were not needed too. They have the responcibility to balance how they spend the money and there will never be enough money to do everything no matter how good the manage the money.
This is what makes life in America amazing. I was taking pictures of a field carpeted with bright yellow mustard flowers yesterday. We normally do see these until spring in February.
horse drawn carriage rides are not generally thought of as fast transportation.
