C'mon Harmon....serious? Hall has choked in every big game he has ever played in, gimme a break. I am predicting 4 interceptions, since he hasn't practiced that much with the team since he ran away to Arizona as fast as he could after his comments of hate spewed. Speed kills.....Rodger boys will be running circles around the big slow dough boys.

ute fan

if you are a ute fan why dont you just cheer for utah? you do know that a byu win looks good for utah right? and if all that speed kills...makes me wonder how fast and good utah is...or isnt.

We all thought Oregon was going to run over John Beck and the Cougars a few years back and look what happened. I think Maxie is ready to shine in his last game. The boy's have the talent to do it. Let's see if they come out ready like before or flat as in recent games of this kind.

Re: bigutefan

You're just not very bright are you ? Max has beaten the yewts 2 of 3 times ... were they not big games ? What about the Oklahoma game ? What about UCLA at home and in the bowl game ?

Actually ... Wynn has choked in every big game he's had. Don't cry us a river when your precious bowl streak ends in a couple of days.

Re: bigutefan

What are the big games you are referring to that Max has choked in? The Utah game's of 2007 and 2009?

Grow up Boys

It is time for both BYU and UTAH to step up and play great games. The next two days will give them each the opportunity. I will be rooting for them. I think Hall will be less nervous than he was in the Utah game where he still threw the game winning touchdown. I think Wynn and club will make a better show than they did against the Cougars. Here's to two great teams as they help raise our conference to new heights of success on and off the field. Go BYU and go Utah.

Utes and speed

I love it how everyone including the am 1280 guys talk about Utah's speed and ability to play with the big boys and BYU's inability to do the same.

Yet, oddly, BYU has defeated Utah 3 of the last 4 years. Inexplicable. Strange, as well, that OU who has a solid and speedy defense this year couldn't stop Max and the Cougars on their drive that sealed the victory.

Utah may have that speed but it sure didn't help them against TCU who torched them on the scoreboard. Utah's speed didn't help them in a loss against Oregon nor did it help them in their loss to BYU. I take that back maybe it helped them but not enough to win.

Maybe, just maybe, sheer speed isn't all it's cracked up to be. Maybe it is merely a factor in making a good team but not determinative. I think three of the last four years have shown that to be the case on the field as the Cougars were able to find a way to win against such speed in the hands of the Utes.

Great comments BYU fan! But not justified either! You go ahead and take you're 3 wins and 4 years, while I can say that we've WON 6 of the last 9 meetings, and during that stretch, went to 2 BCS bowls and won! When BYU can actually win a meaningful game, and not lose to Arizona in a bowl game, and get their butts kicked at home by Florida State and TCU, then you can be in the discussion. Remember, our 2 losses before you, were to the 7th ranked Oregon team that is going to the BCS. A team that would've destroyed you! Get your facts straight ZOOBIE!

Now, now children.....

let us not be jealous of each other. Let's play nicely together and not call each other names. Maybe you guys ought to put your helmets on and have a go at each other and settle this thing once and for all. Go UTES....Go Cougs

Dear Utefan and Anonymous

Let's see Max can't win the big ones, which means the Utah win was a nothing win over a nothing team. Now you claim Utah has speed, but they sure can't tackle as you watch the highlights of that game when George couldn't be tackled by two speedy Utah guys The Utah fans keep saying don't look back at BYU's NC, yet that is all you do is look back on your record. IF you want to say you have won 6 -9, then what about the previous 20 years. Get a life, grow up and start rooting for all the MWC teams to win. Your chances for a BCS bowl goes right along with the MWC winning games whether you like them or not. You two are the ones who promote hate and distrust to the ultimate degree. I can use stats to make my point to. Would be great to see both BYU and Utah win big, or just plain win. Or should it be BYU wins and Utah looses big time. How is that for sour grapes you two loosers.

Eye Patch

This will be a fun game to watch. Two offensive teams on the field. Both have had great wins, and not so great losses.

Once again, the Utes pick up the weaker, unranked team out of the Pac Ten.

It will be interesting to see how the Utes spin it if BYU beats a ranked team, and utah loses to an unranked team.

I will guarantee you if that happens, Utah will definately claim they were the dominant team, and BYU was weak. Same way when BYU beat them, the Utes made Max the story, while when Alex Smith beat BYU, and said he hated BYU and mormons, it was all good.

Maybe BYU jsut doesn't have the chip on thier shoulders that comes from being a weaker team for half a century.

Funny -- Scoreboard says BYU won

I thought the purpose of a rivalry was to see who could beat who each year.

Utah fans, thanks for your comments.

You lost, were measured and found lacking...

Talk next year to us. We, being nationally ranked, are playing another nationally ranked team tomorrow.

We won, you lost.
George is still running. I heard he ran all the way down to Vegas, and a Ute couldn't catch him.

You kids run off to the unranked table.

I've always ......

... cheered for BYU except when they played Utah.
This game is all Oregon State.. I personally want Max Hall to be pummeled, buried, squished and put in his classless place.
I know it would be better for the MWC if BYU won-- yes, I'm aware. This time I don't care.
I'm sorry BYU, but this time I'm with Oregon State all the way.

go cougs

have a great game

Dennis

What seems to be overlooked is one of the reasons Hall seems to do badly in big games boils down to receivers and a line that choke even more than he does.
Mose of the receivers couldn't catch the swine flu if it was injected into them.

Put your spin on it anyway you want. If I want to use your logic and spin I will say, You can take your WON 6 of the last 9 meetings and 2 BCS bowls but BYU still has a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP and Utah does NOT. You see, if you want to go back in time, you have to use everything!. This year is this year! BYU won, they beat Utah and are currently ranked higher. Anyone can grab stats that put a spin on their team being better than anyone else. No one knows who will "destroy" anyone until they play on the field. Using the "Yewt spin" will do nothing for you. By the way, so why are you reading all the articles on the BYU games and not reading the SLT and following your Yewt's? Is it really that you are a closet Cougar or is your hate getting the best of you and you just can't stop trying to find some kind of fault with "that team down South"?

Hopefully this first time ever meeting against ranked teams in the Vegas bowl will be very successful and Vegas will see the value in bringing such quality teams together. They've been getting a steal by taking a great ranked team from the MWC for several years running and this year a ranked PAC-10 team just happened to fall in its lap. But this could be the matchup every year if Vegas would put a little more distance between its payout and the NCAA minimum so it could land the 2nd or 3rd place Pac-10 team. After all its done for this bowl, the MWC deserves a better payout. If Vegas isn't willing to up the ante then the MWC should go elsewhere. Vegas would gladly take our 2nd or 3rd place team for the awful payout they provide. Who else would they get for a lousy 500K?

@ Anonymous | 12:18 a.m.

Actually, the last ten have been split 5-5 since 2000. So there is no way that Utah could have won 6 of 9. Maybe you need to get your facts straight. Also, how can you say that a team that beat you would "destroy" BYU, when BYU beat you too? And the fact that BYU lost to FSU, would mean that FSU would "destroy" you.

Based on results, I'd say the Lord is taking care of Austin Collie. Sounds like he's living his life right. NFL contract, huge income, healthy, great family and possibly headed to the super-bowl...awesome huh?
