Make the bad teams look good Sloan. Your ridiculous defense of double teaming every player with the ball is one bug-a-boo in your defense that stinks! Watch the games fans and what is the very reason opposing team players are so wide open for shots? Right, they go over to double team and can't get back to their man. Thats also why teams shoot their best percentages of the year when they play us! Get a new coach!
beat mediocre teams by playing both Boozer and Okur together.
He essentially played a 7 man rotation. He pulled Mathews quickly. Which is fine since he was not playing that well. Korver is hurt again. That is not good as he is needed for closing.
Both CJ and Millsap looked very good. They were smooth and for the most part played smart. CJ is starting to rebound more. His game is improving. His length is an asset on defense. Playing him and AK together helps the defense.
DWill and Boozer got it together.
Sloan could have put Fes in for a few minutes and improved the D but a win is a win and Sloan did play to win.
Sloan did not try to play Church BasketBall and see that everyone got their minutes. Rightly or wrongly he found combos that were working well enough and stayed with them.
I really do not care much who plays as long it ends with a W. I want Sloan to have a game plan and a back up plan. I do not want him winging it based on his experience.
Now see if you can get a game plan for ORL/MIA
but give Sloan credit for keeping the starters fresh by pulling them last night and winning a back to back tonight. I rag on Sloan more than most people. But I also give him credit for the things he does right.
I still think his philosophies and biases are wrong and lose games. On the other hand when you can get him focused on winning instead of his nonsense, he can be a good coach.
At least the offense ran tonight. Sloan has made a career out of talking about defense while out scoring other teams.
At least he stayed with combos that were playing well enough.
I want to see him start with an effective combo against ORL and stay with combos that can keep it close. Okur is not playing that well right now.
It might be a good time to use Fes more. Okur is not going to bang with Howard. The worst Fes can do is foul him which is no worse than having him dunk on Okur.
I like Okur but Howard is not his game. Okur and Millsap play well together most of the time (last year).
Is there another W on this road?
at a pace they were comfortable with. That is a very important factor in this win. If the Jazz can control pace they tend to shoot much better and the offense runs much better.
CJ was hot, Mathews was not. CJ played and Sloan abandoned his set in concrete rotations. He actually coached which is greatly appreciated.
Okur is still in a funk but maybe he will pull out. He should not shoot 3s unless he has time to get his feet set. When he does he is lethal and his shot is beautiful.
CJ needs to stop rushing some of his shots. You can tell the ones that are going to go in. He is smooth and has great form. On the clankers he does not have the form and tends to rush them.
CJ is starting to show why he is worth keeping. Now if he can come up with some consistency.
Millsap just looks smooth and better and better. Some of his block are awesome and his shots look very smooth. He almost always hustles.
The Jazz have talent if Sloan just manages it well.
played in Utah neither Okur or Boozer could keep Howard out of the low post. They would let him get set deep and then it was impossible to stop him. It often resulted in a 3 point play.
It is a matter of physically preventing Howard from getting to his spots in the low post.
Okur just did not have the strenght to keep Howard out of the blocks.
Fes can do it if he uses his feet and head. If you keep Howard out far enough his output goes down.
Further, Fes might if he is careful on offense, draw a foul or two on Howard. I do not know if Fes is ready yet but it is worth trying.
Unless Okur can push Howard out farther it will be a long night. Why not try Fes? At least for 5 minutes. It might make Okur mad enough that he will battle Howard a little smarter.
There are 48 minutes to use Okur as an outside shooter. Try banging Howard. You have nothing to lose.
I do not think Millsap can do it and Howard will shoot over him.
Obviously the Jazz looked better. CJ and Milsap looked good. CJ can still play better but he did do alot better, not only in scoring but rebounds, steals, assists also. Sometimes he only looks to score, tonight he played a whole game.
Sloan needs to realize that CJ is an offensive player that looks to score and can score. So he needs to play to CJ's strengths. Hopefully CJ can come back and have a good gamae against Orlando, he has a history of being inconsistant. I'm hoping that his maturing will help him become more consistant and tougher. He looked pretty winded at the end and needs to get in better shape.
The Jazz need a third player that steps up consistantly and scores. Okur does for the most part but it would help if CJ would step up also and be that consistant scorer.
I still like Mathews, his D is tough, and he scores OK but he isn't in CJ's league as a scorer.
Hopefully Fes will get some playing time against Orlando. He needs to improve and that will only come with PT. It would be good experience against Howsard.
nice job jazz!! cant complain about a road win!!!
Just like I have been saying. When CJ plays more than 20 minutes, JAZZ WIN.
34 minutes
20 points
8 of 16
3 of 8 on three's
5 rebounds
3 Steals
3 Blocks
Yea, CJ plays no defense and doesn't rebound (rolling eyes"
When Jerry realizes that CJ needs minutes and Korver doesn't, this team will move to the next level.
This team can not improve without playing CJ more minutes. He can help them be an elite team. He is a scorer. Accept that Jerry and let him play.
And he does it on the road when most bench players fade away into the sunset.
And CJ must not shoot it every time because he had 3 assists.
CJ had a good game and is playing a more complete game. He got the minutes because he played well early and Korver got hurt again and Mathews was not having a good night.
CJ needs to play like this every night. Sloan has to play the combos that are playing well. He is finally getting away for his set rotations.
I doubt if they will beat ORL but maybe Sloan will actually plan for the game and then make a back up plan when the first plan does not work.
Sloan has personally lost 4 or more games this year by just doing what he always does instead of actually coaching.
The blow outs are particularly irritating. They are a clear indication that Sloan made 0 effort to prepare for the game and that he had NO intention of winning or even trying to win.
If you have 18 years of road losses the problem is the coaching and the organization for not doing something about the coaching.
I hope CJ has another great game. There is some talent on this team. Sloan picked and developed CJ. That is something he does well.
Well well... way to go... still 2 more games to go!... lets see what happens?
when CJ can put a good 3 or 4 good games together in a row, then we can start talking about how he makes the team better. As of now, they were playing just fine when he was out and they haven't played any better since he's been back.
Sloan was so scared of losing with seventeen point lead and six minutes to go, when brown pulls his starters he doesn't even make one concessionary sub, just classless coaching, especially against brown, a hof coach who kept his subs in the whole rest of the game even after they had a legitimate chance to make a comeback. sloan ended up looking fooled again as it ends up he is forced to play his starters because of his poor coaching decisions. making the win alot harder then it needed to be, thank sloan for that, its a long season, why make things unnecessarily difficult.
again, sloan is shown he has no plan for the future, no way to incorporate a plan for the future into every game scenarios, he could've stuck fez in there the last six minutes and the jazz would've still won by at least the score they did, except, it becomes a situation where the starters almost choke the game up. thanks to sloan, anyway, he's like his pet okur, they have a couple of tricks, but there is important job qualifications they lack.
It never fails to amaze me the number of people that think they know better how to coach the Jazz then Hall Of Fame coach Sloan and his staff.
I guess there is a never ending supply of armchair quarterbacks even in basketball.
Boy are we a Jekyll & Hyde team.....
Great game for CJ & Sap, Okur still struggling...
BTW, what would it take to get G.Wallace, the guy was everywhere !!!!
We're talking about Bobcats? It's an easy win for the Jazz... wake me up when the game's over. We can rant about the Jazz when they're playing against a high-caliber teams such as Orlando and Boston!
Who's this C.J.?
This kid can play. He's got game. Give him some mins.
Kyle who?
Deron Williams
10 TURNOVERS IN THE LAST TWO GAMES!!!
6 LAST NIGHT VS. 4 AGAINST THE HAWKS!!
He is single handedly almost handing these games to the opponents. He sure did in Atlanta...walking up the floor and throwing it softly into double-teamed team mates.
He needs some glasses or some bench time to get his head on straight.
When Maynor came in at Atlanta the team got better.
When our supposed best player is making your team worse than a backup rookie???? That is a problem.
Deron needs to get his head on straight and stop throwing the ball away. Too many of his turnovers are just AWFUL passes. Its like he is trying to throw it to them.
Any other team besides the atrocious Bobcats and we lose!!
I didn`t see the game,Wallace lit us up,who was guarding him?
How many years do we have to put up with this guy?
Let me say I love his overall 3 point shooting (on average) but I will tell you that is the beginning and the end of what I like.
THIS GUYS HAS ABSOLUTELY VANISHED FOR HIS TEAM ON THE ROAD AND HE HAS DONE IT CONSISTENTLY FOR YEARS!!!
YEAR AFTER YEAR THIS GUY IS A COMPLETE NO-SHOW. COMPARE THE STATS FOR YOURSELF--HE IS CONSISTENTLY WORSE ON THE ROAD AND MORESO THAN THE AVERAGE NBA STARTER!!
Spud Webb could score layups over Okur in the paint. He is just the biggest softest sissy.
This guy would be tradeable for some value too. Best shooting big man in the NBA and with all the offense-only teams in the NBA I can't help but think someone would take our FOOLS GOLD that is OKUR!!
Get this guy gone!!
Every team needs at least 3 go-to guys and Okur supposedly has been one but he is never there on the road which is a big reason this team is so DISMAL on their road performances!!
He can't buy a basket on this roadtrip!!!
