Thanks to Dr. Reichel we now know the rest of the story and it is as inspiring as the music
Agreed! Handel's "Messiah" has been a family tradition since I was a young child. The Christmas Season was ushered in each year when our family went to Symphony Hall the Sunday after Thanksgiving to participate in the incredible "Messiah Sing Along". The "Messiah" has remained a favorite part of Christmas for me, even now with a family of my own and living thousands of miles from where I grew up.
Now we live in the South, and even though we don’t have the Symphony Hall, nor hundreds singing along--but instead, just singing with a small 15 member amateur choir, and only with a piano and organ, in a cold local high school auditorium--it's still Handel’s “Messiah”...and Christmas was yet again, ushered in for me this year.
Thank you Dr Reichel for this interesting article and for bringing back such fond memories of Christmas' past.
