Wow!

And BYU fans say that Utah State has a weak schedule.

Who lost to Northeastern?

enough said.

Las Vegas Classic

As article stated quite clearly, Wagner is part of the Las Vegas Classic, which includes Brigham Young University, Chicago State University, Eastern Washington University, Jackson State University, University of Nebraska, University of Nevada, University of Tulsa, and Wagner College.

So Aggie fans, you can get off your high horses because BYU didn't pick Wagner as an opponent; the Las Vegas Classic picked the Seahawks to play the Cougars. Next up will be Eastern Washington, Nevada (Aggie fans should have heard of the Wolfpack) and either Nebraska or Tulsa.

BYU didn't play particularly well, but it was a nice tuneup game for the Cougars to get back into basketball as finals are winding down.

Nice timing for BYU fans, hoops and football next Tuesday in Las Vegas.

Go Cougs!

?

I didn't know "Wagner" was a college? Great schedule....

Hooray for the Cougars! Keep up the good work, guys.

Some people just complain about everything. What's with some of you people?

Wrong!

BYU fans don't know or care who utah state plays. Aren't you in the WeAC!

I stayed up and watched the game on BYU-TV. After the first nine minutes I thought BYU was going to run away with the game. But something (normal) happened. BYU let the other team hang around. The last ten minutes of the game, Wagner outscored BYU. Sure, they were ahead, but come on Cougs, keep up the intensity. I see where Tulsa played a lower echelon team last night and beat them by over 60 points. BYU should have done the same to Wagner. When Duke, N. Carolina, Texas, or any team plays a weaker team they totally anniliate them--but not BYU!!
The next ten games will show how well BYU can play-or if they can play to get into the NCAA!

Yes

Wagner is no powerhouse but unlike the uts, we beat them. Go VANDALS!

BYU is overated!!!

Cougars have had the weakest scheduale in the entire NCAA, I could beat half of the teams by my self, and the other half, my 7 year old daughter could beat!!!!!

Honestly

BYU has lost one game to a good Utah State team. Get off your high horses. Preleague play is all about figuring things out. The MWC is very good this year. This tournament was put together, not chosen. The Cougars finish up preseason with a good Arizona team and then have UNLV, so I think you trolls should hold off before passing judgement.

Wagner wasn't "whipped"! BYU got an early lead when they looked like they cared (probably because the score was close early), then basically played Wagner even for most of the game. Not a good start to a tournament.

Teams deserving of national rankings year-in-and-year-out don't play down to poor teams' levels as often as BYU does. This isn't a good sign for the rest of this year.

It is nice to see the coach keeping JT off the starting line-up, and to see JT scoring more inside and with shorter 2-pointers, since he can't hit 3s very well this year.

Kudos to the coach for stopping the 3-misses bleeding, and to JT for playing in a way that benefits the team. His size and defense are more useful than his 3 attempts.

It's interesting to see how poorly BYU shot the 3s when their heads and hearts weren't into the game. Many turnovers, too.

Maybe the coach will get on them during practice and they can show better on Saturday.

Yes, BYU plays some soft teams in the pre-MWC schedule and beats them, unlike Utah who loses.

It is easy to get behind a screen and shovel dirt. I rarely read comments on articles because of what I witness today. I would like to see constructive comments about the article just featured, but … I love sports, but banter such this, just takes the fun out of it for me. I would hope that this kind of talk would not be evident when greeting one another face to face? This standard should be the same in this forum, I can also implore. Let’s not forget who we are and how we would like to be perceived by others is my hope and my humble request. When one gets too caught up in anything, including sports, it takes away something else, something also good that a person could be developing to make themselves better. Fan is short for “fanatic.” Fanaticism in any one area is dangerous. Let’s be civil to one another and work on other qualities to make us better. I am a sports enthusiast, hopefully not a fanatic. Merry Christmas all!

I was able to watch the game last night from Missouri. Bottom-line for me, because out hear we can listen to the games, but not see many of them: I wish we could put Jackson Emery's heart & intensity into every Coug. Talent is there, with the exception of our inside presence, but we seem to drift into mediocrity too often & let teams, like a Wagner, play us much closer than they should. Come on Cougs. You're better than that!

BYU didn't schedule Wagner, who won 23 games 2 years ago. Wagner and BYU are part of a tournament. Stop the ankle biting.

RR

BYU should have demolished this team by 30 points and put up 90 on them. It's too bad they can really put the hammer on poorer teams.
I hope they play Nebraska! They are much better this year. I live in Nebraska and I'd love to watch a game with friends who are both BYU and Nebraska fans!

BYU

I think Tavernari needs to start if the Cougars are going to make any noise this year. He might take some ill-advised shots sometimes, but overall he is a solid player.

JT

Tavernari will play and contribute whether he starts or not. I don't see that starting is that important. Harstock has been playing quite well, and is getting better. He may not be as flashy or have as quick hands as JT, but he's been doing a great job. It's nice that BYU has the depth that they do this year. It is something that has been lacking in years past, and is a big reason why they have not done as well in tournaments. The added depth allows them to get more people on the court and keep everyone fresh without diminishing the product on the floor much.
