Red Headed Stranger

Dear BYU Athletic Department,

Please don't schedule games against teams like this any more.

Thank you.

Whos playing

Re-red headed stranger
The last I heard was most teams outside of the mountains are not willing to come to the Utah schools because they are afraid of loosing. Rose said to get any good teams was to play one at home and two away. I think it show no guts. I would like to see as many good teams as possible but when they can't get teams to schedule 1 & 1, it's unfair for our states universities.

No sharing

This team hasn't learned how to share the ball around like last year's team. When they do, they'll be just as good as the team led by Cummard--another MWC champion.

The game against Wagner will be a good barometer for comparison purposes. Wagner will play Nevada Reno on Saturday. Nevada is a very good team. BYU will play them down in Las Vegas next week. Put Hartsock on Luke Babbit and defend him like crazy and that will be half the battle. Go Courgars!

BYU didn't schedule this

This game is part of the tournament they are playing in: the tournament scheduled the teams. BYU just plays them.

Also, BYU is not the only in-state school playing teams like this. Come on, Southern Utah IS a team like that...

I like what I see in BYU this year. Lots of hustle and much less one-on-one action from JT. I'm glad Jimmer went through a cold spell, too, because it showed how important teamwork can be against tough teams. Jimmer doesn't normally take shots out of the offense anyway, so at least his teammates are in position for offensive rebounding and for defending the fast break. Utah State, BYU, Utah and even Weber have shown some superb potential this year, and I'm hoping all of them make it to NCAA post-season play. I think Jimmer is the best ball player in the state, and he is smart enough to adjust to the defenses that various teams will be throwing at BYU and particularly at him. All teams would be wise to take the action implied by the old saying, "If you're double teamed, then somebody is open."

I liked Rose's comment, "We're just happy to be playing in a tournament." The Cougs haven't done well in THE tournament lately, so lets go change that starting with winning this tournament.

Free to Root to Root 4 BYU

Red-headed frak and anonymous are nothing but puke fans hanging out becaus their team is below average...

Yeah they're rebuilding, but at year's end they beat their chest's they beat a sub-par Michigan team that should(in their minds)help them get in the dance.....oh and Oklahoma will never play in Salt Lake again unless it's in the tournament...ot for the Sooner's is too close for their thinking...

Back to the Cougars....have seen them play and yeah at tiems they are inconsistent....but the article is correct by saying that is what pre-season is all about...another thought is that BYU's opponents, like anyone else's will make run's in games...hopefully a stout Cougar D will stifle that to a minimum. But all teams have let downs...including BYU....by the time we get to Vegas we'll be 10-1 and have two more games to tune up for conference.....it is about conference games isn't it???

Don't let the media's attraction to New Mexico and UNLV freak you out....no one 'EVER'likes BYU except for BYU fans....GO BIG BLUE!!!!!

Re: Anonymous

Rose said "tournament format"..not just tournament. He's talking about the benefits of playing in a tournament format this time of year, several games in a short time.

What in tucket?

Wagner may not be a BB power, but seems to have a big rep as a university. Rated #1 by some.

Re: Re: Anonymous

Thanks for pointing out the obvious. Nothing better to do tonight?

Cougar

How many home non conference games do we play? Seems like it would be better to do what Utah does and play some tough competition at home and on the road. No wonder we can't win a game in the NCAA tournament.

KP

With the exception of Utah State, I'm sure the selection committee will be impressed with all of the cupcakes on BYU's schedule this year.
