And I hope Cougar fans look it over well. Max Hall is a winner and has given us some great victories. He deserves more praise and less grief.
Bronco is right that he will be appreciated more after he is gone.
And Ute fans won't have any more incentive to get on these boards and add their classless comments that are designed to do nothing except cut.
Most of these wins were won by the defense. Max played bad and we still won. Look forward to next year when we have a qb that doesn't disappear in big games.
Dick Harmon has begun the Max Hall rehabilitation campaign.
After three years in the program that embraces spirit, tradition, honor and being the standard bearer for the values of the BYU, Max used the podium that his victory afforded him to disgrace those values instead of promote them.
He made it about "him" and "his" emotions not about his team and the values of the school.
His legacy is cast in stone and it has nothing to do with victories.
again, the beginnings of yet another BYU vs Utah bash-a-thon.
No doubt about a 32-7 record, it's impressive, the wins and losses were sometimes frustrating but the stats don't lie and we should pay respect to the numbers. Max did accomplish many things and the top ten list is admirable.
I for one will be excited for a new season and will hope the best for Max. It is a shame that he could not control his temperment in the heat of the moment but as they say, "that's showbiz". It's history and it's time to move. He will have to live with it and we can do well to chalk it up as kid's stuff and move on.
Good luck to all of the MWC schools. Go TCU, Utah and BYU. It was a great season, now bring it home with the triple wins!
I love reading the comment from the Max Hall haters. "Max played bad and we still won." Oh please. "He made it about 'him' and 'his' emotions." LOL.
Bronco was right.
"Bronco was right."
Bronco preaches tradition, spirit, and honor and then conveniently looks the other way when one of his warriors falls short of those values.
Just how does hate-speak align with the tradition, spirit, and honor of BYU?
Max will go down as the quarterback who won, but really underachieved. A bit of an oxymoron but when you look at Max's career it is not impressive. A lot of 10 win seasons but always out shadowed by someone else in the league. No BCS wins, only Vegas Bowls. Who cares?
Also as a Cougar fan it is safe to say, since it is already the talk, Max will be remembered for being "classless." Unfortunate but that will be his legacy, it already is.
Good riddance Max.

Let it go man, let it go. You see, what happens when hundreds of thousands of people
- Call you Maxine
- Call you a feminine hygiene product
- Put bumper stickers on your car saying "Honk if you intercepted Max Hall"
- Sexually harassed your mother and your wife (well at least one person did it with the tacit approval of the Ute fans and stadium security)
Although I cannot condone, I can certainly understand the outburst.
Utes on the other hand, seem to not be able to let it go. Somehow, you must find some sort of victory (moral or otherwise) from BYU. YOU CAN'T LOSE TO BYU. You have built up such animosity that you can't let anything go. 4th and 18? You MUST take offense at anything anyone says so you can claim a moral victory. A player venting frustration after winning a game? You MUST take offense at anything anyone says so you can claim a moral victory, even if Ute fans and players repeatedly say the same thing. You CAN'T let the Cougars win. That's dysfunctional. Let it go, let it go.
Where exactly does calling opponents classless fit in? Where does lying about opponents fans fall? How about criticizing the religious beliefs and lifestyle of the U football team?
That behavior is the legacy of Max Hall and Austin Collie to many.
Not exactly the behavior we saw recently from the likes of Tim Tebow after losing to Alabama or the Army and Navy teams after that rivalry game.
The BYU football program should really start practicing what it preaches.
Generally when one creates a top ten list, they start with ten and count down to one... Thanks for the suspense!
What up fellas? Hall is ok, I can see why he renegged on his deal with ASU to go to BYU. He is in for a tuff loss on Tuesday though. Oregon State is a good solid team. They play hard, and they are loaded on offense. I have been to 2 of their games this year, and have watched all but 2 on TV. I have also seen 3 of BYU's games, and read about all their others. I was listening to Portland Sports Talk radio today (I live here) and they were talking about expanding the PAC and letting BYU and UU in, I am all for it, 2 all around good Universities with quality sports programs.
That being said, this should be a great game, but I pick OSU 34, BYU 14.
Sorry Cougs, theres always next year.
Max was our best player. Please don't graduate and move on. Just so you know, he was always a Ute in disguise and tried to sabotage the important games, but won just enough to avoid suspicion. The joke is on you, Cougar fans.
Don't we have 4 MW teams in bowls this season? Good luck to all.
Max lost to Utah once.
Beat them twice.
Your clever "joke" only worked last year.
Just like, "Don't look now, but Max Hall just threw another interception." That one was funny for a good 10 months, or so.
My personal favorite now is, "I don't always throw beer on Max Hall's family, but when I do, I prefer Dos Equis. Stay thirsty my friends."
Good luck Max (and the rest of the Cougs) in the bowl game!
You've been a great quarterback here, and most of us are grateful!
That would be five. Wyoming, AF, UofU, BYU, TCU.
The ultimate scoreboard is the Wins column in the sense of competition. On that system Hall is a great BYU QB. That is saying alot!
That he made some emotional statements is entirely forgivable.
That everyone needs to get a perspective on the whole BUY-U rivally is absolute! I love football and am honery the day after a loss. But com'on! It is a game.
Those of you criticizing Max need to get a life. You are all pathetic. Max is one of BYU's great QB's. He deserves our respect and admiration as BYU fans, and I couldn't care less what Ute fans think about him. Ute fans ARE classless. Deal with it. Ute fans were voted 2nd to last as being the worst in the MWC ... only finishing above Wyoming fans ... thanks for not stooping to using urine bombs.
If Ute fans want to be considered 'classy', clean up your fans' behavior at RES. Stop turning a blind eye to the crap that goes on. You're all to blame if you allow it to go on.
Compare Max's record against any of BYU's greats and you'll see that it compares very favorably. Those of you that criticize ARE 'uneducated'.
Yawn....
Max is 2-1 against Utah and 2-1 against UCLA. Those numbers are as impressive as Steve Young's. After all is said and done, wins are what it's all about.
Max will be remember for his poor sportsmanship, what a shame. To bad he couldn't keep his mouth shout shut.
Nice try pretending to be a BYU fan.
