13 minutes for Fesenko, and the Jazz get the victory. It's no accident, folks.

Peace out from the Jazz Oracle!

Hey Chuck how many games have the Jazz won and Fes didnt play a minute, its no accident that Coach Sloan knows what he's doing. Yea Fes did help slow down Lopez your right, but give Coach some credit for knowing something about the game.............

Exactly Chuck. Why Jazz still playing Boozer and Memo together. Memo looks like lost man. Fes is so huge fills so much space and he can block and quick.

Lookin Good

I'm just happy to see Korver back on the floor. He knows the game of basketball and has a cool head! He makes good passes and gets the ball inside. He even got a little rhythm going tonight with his shot. Looking forward to seeing his contributions to the Jazz.

Good win

Good win tonight. Sharing the ball is the answer! There are plenty of Jazz men that can score. Williams doesn't have to do it all by himself. It is more successful when the ball gets passed around to the open man! Also good to see everyone get a few minutes. Keep the good times rolling.

I'll tell you two things "Anonymous": First off, if Fesenko had played at least 12 minutes Monday, the Jazz would have won that one too, no question. Second, I have NEVER said that Jerry Sloan was not a great coach. I have so much respect for Jerry Sloan, and anyone who has read my work over the past six years knows it. But playing time for Fesenko has been the one issue that I have disagreed with him on, and you can have that respect for someone and still disagree when you think they're doing something wrong. Tonight. Coach did what he needed to do, and that's give Fesenko a significant amount of minutes to play and have an impact on the game. Every time he's done it this season, it's worked, and I just want him to stay with it.
Oh, and if you want to call me out directly, why don't you use your own name? I'm a bit of a self promoter, but at least my name goes with EVERYTHING I say.

Peace out from the Jazz Oracle!

I think

any win is a good win, and especially a road win...Jersey or not...now if they can steal a couple more before coming home, they might have the confidence to put together a decent, if not remarkable, season. Contrary to what a lot of people think, next year will be a big rebuild year as the team is just in way too deep to sustain the payroll they have acquired. They will have to deal some people the fans really like and it is probably going to bring the wins down...so it would be nice if this year could at least provide us with some nice memories.

Easy Chuck some people just like to say rude or just be ignorant.I feel ya with Fes and I would also like to see Fes, and Okur at 4 and Boozer at the 3 just to see how that would work.
Looking good: He missed a cut and it ended up a turn over, and 1 of his passes was almost a back court violation. He also got burn on his first defensive stand. On the upside he did hit a couple good shots and 1 down low.

wanting to remain invisible/life

well Chuck you could be right about the game on Monday by playing Fes more maybe the Jazz win, you know if they just make a couple more free throws they win as well. I wasnt calling you out, its just fun to watch people second guess something after its over, win or lose, its to easy to do. As a former coach myself (just at the high school level) its easy for people to think that they know better then a coach who see's his players in practice and sees tendicies that we will never see. Coach probably knows when and where to play Fes, I agree the kid should have more playing time and the more he gets the better he can help us at the end of the yea and in the play offs, I enjoy reading your stuff you have good insight but i dont agree with some of your stuff. But these posts are just fun When the Jazz win everyone is on board and when they lose its lets jump ship, and as unrealistic fans we all think that our team should just run the table, keeep up the good posts Chuck

Sloan only plays

Fes in games where he matches up well. If Sloan were as careful with the rest of his match ups as he is with Fes and if he actually coached things like pace he would win most of the games he should win.

The Jazz tend to lose when they play at the other teams pace. If Sloan can't control pace during the regular season then why would he be able to control it in the playoffs?

I do not think Sloan does much actual coaching. He mostly manages rotations and expects the players to figure it out on the floor and adjust.

If he has to he will call a time out (usually way late) and coach a little. As far as I am concerned he is the Bobby Bowden of the NBA. His decades of coaching are a negative half of the time as they do not translate into wins. His decades of coaching translate into patterns that lose games that should not be lost.

However, he won tonight so I will lay off him.

Well, sorry to get so touchy. But I'm right about Fesenko. What's more, as soon as he came out of the game during his second stretch of play, the whole dynamic changed defensively inside for the Jazz, and the Nets got into the paint much easier and made that little run. Fortunately the Jazz were able to stop that run and pull the lead back out. This is a great team, and when everyone plays who needs to and gets the amount of minutes they need to, they win almost every time. I'm not a guy who calls for guys to be traded, I love that we have the guys we have. I've also followed this team since the REALLY rotten years, so I'm not a fair-weather fan. Hopefully now with another strong performance under his belt Fess has won some confidence from Coach and will see the kind of minutes he needs to see as a rotational regular.

Peace out from the Jazz Oracle!

i really miss

the '02 or '03 season when the jazz managed to have 41 wins and 41 losses. during that season (if i remember right) they just went out and played the games and werent so concerned about getting to the playoffs or having the best record in the league. gee, the jazz fans werent as expectant with that team as they are right now. if the jazz lost a road game at all that season then the fans just chalked it up as another loss and figured "they'll get the next one" or even "cant win em all". now theres seriously something wrong with the jazz team and everyone is just pointing fingers at everyone and coming with their own reasons as to what the solution is for the jazz team.

what i'm expecting as one who watches them play on tv is that they'll be fortunate to even have 50 wins this yr no matter what and that they'll get KO'd in the first rd of the playoffs just like they did last season.

@ChuckNunn

Nunn has a point. Look at the Jazz record when Fes plays. It is not that Fes is good yet. Once in a while he will do really well. It has more to do with the style of for both teams is altered when Fes is in the game.

If Fes can develop by the playoffs and if Sloan will play him, the Jazz may have a chance (assuming Mathews and Maynor have also developed).

The team is to dependent on Boozer and DWill right now. They do best when their offense is balanced.

If you look at the differential stats for the elite teams and compare them with the Jazz there is one glaring difference.

It is in the 3 point stats. The elite teams (for the most part)shoot 3s well and shoot twice as many of them as the Jazz.

Note these are DIFFERENTIAL stats (the Jazz vs Opponents).

The elite teams go inside, have a good FG %, rebound, but they are much better on 3s.

A big problem is still Sloan's biases. The Jazz lead in assists but their lack of 3s make them an also ran.

They do not have a complete game.

Meanwhile, that powerhouse Minnesota lost to that other powerhouse the L.A. Clippers 120-95.

Everyone was up in arms about Deron allowing a rookie to score 28 points (even though he countered with 38 pts and 13 ast), now is he going to get credit for slowing down one of the top/quickest pg's in the league? Or was that team defense this time?

todd to jbra

Jbra, I for one know better. I did not nail Deron for that as you know and sensible, intelligent basketball minds would not either.

These things are "washes" I have the fastest of point guards be burned by the fastest of point guards. I watched Sedale Threatt and Van Exel as season ticket holder with the Lakers (when I respected more theyre organization) and Sedal was quick but defensively the rules of no handchecking, physics are not going to allow someone to be able and stop god given speed and hops.

Fes Fan

Fes was the man, tonight! He clogs the middle up like a rodeo bull in a stall and nobody has free passage or ANY way of going through him to the basket, like they do when Memo and others allow. He controls the lane under the basket, plain and simple! It's so clear to me that he alters the game when he's in. Once he has a lot more experience tucked under the belt, this kid's gonna be a player. He's got Mark Eaton--like defensive potential (wasn't Eaton named defensive player a number of times?), but with a soft shooting touch around the basket. Like Mark, he likes to mix it up a little bit, has a tough mental edge to his play, with no fear whatsoever.
Two signs of taking Timberwolves lightly:
1) Rusty foul-shooting--looked like no one practiced foul shots all week, and 2) soft "D" (still!) all the way to the basket ALL night long--especially by most of our bigs underneath. On the other hand, Timberwolves played Rambis style "D" underneath a little tougher than we did. We got few stops throughout the game.

Chuck Nunn

Deron Williams was certainly not the reason the Jazz lost Monday. He shot the ball well, and he also ran the offense well. He's played well for the past four games now, at an All-Star level, recording scoring/assist double-doubles. He's doing his part. He did it again tonight, and if he can continue to play at that kind of level, this team is going to have success.

With Fez in the game it makes the tallest guy guard him instead of Boozer. Boozer usually struggles against the Lakers because everyone in the paint is taller then him.

To AK Fan

You're spot on! Memo does look lost. Bring him off the bench when we need a little jump start, but not extended minutes. Looks to shoot first, and is a real defensive liability. Get the young guys involved Jerry!
