Comments about ‘High school basketball: Jordan starts fast, bests Judge’

The Diggers are off to a good start. I wish they could have that Davis game over again. I felt that Jordan was the better team, but let that large lead slip away.

Region 4 is absolutely brutal this year! I just calculated that they are 27-5 against the state. It is a shame that the UHSAA has created a "Super Power" league when there are so many bad teams out there.

Region 4 is by far the toughest region. There are some other great teams in different regions but not near as much depth. Mero and Goldsmith are as good as any other players. Jordan will be very good for the next few years. All of you that have not heard of Jordan Darger you will soon. He is possibley the best freshmen in the state he is right up there with Lone Peaks Nick Emery. Jordan Darger could lead the Diggers to a state title in the next few years. Coach Gertson is every bit as good as Quincey Lewis. Watch out for the Diggers

Some of the darger, i mean digger fans were absolutely classless in game recently vs riverton. With the 'emphasis' being put on sportmanship this year, where are the jordan administration and coaches to help implement this?

I agree, the Diggers are or can be as good as any team in the state. They are undersized, but very talented. If any of you have not seen the Goldsmith/Mero duo you are missing out! These two kids are athletic, smart, and strong. Goldsmith provides the rough and tough play and surprises you with his effort and ability and Mero provides the smooth and jaw-dropping athletic/scoring ability. This is a kid to watch over the next 2 years.

Get out and support the Diggers and enjoy the show and style of this team and their talented duo KG and J money!!!

Might be time to think about a mascot name change, just a thought

its high school basketball... at any high school the players are gonna be heckeled and yelled at... suck it up buttercup...

The worst fans I have ever experienced. Class-less, their parents would have been ashamed. Heckling is part of the high school fan mannerisms, but the digger fans went overboard. Even though there was an authority figure standing in front of them, he able to do nothing, which again shows the fans lack of respect, even for their own. I was appalled as were other Judge fans and parents. Looks like the taxes we pay for public education (i.e. Jordan HS) is truely a waste with regards to good manners and sportmanship.

Why would jordan change their mascot? Its one of the sickest in the state! And Jordan is one of the most entertaining teams to watch in the state! They have some very exciting players and can put a lot of points on the board every night that they play. And I believe that they have good chemistry which will help them in region play. I can honestly say I think they will beat Bingham up in Logan. Go JHS hoops!... Also check out the huge banner of the basketball team in the the BeetGarden! It looks great and Coach Geertson did a great thing!

i am one of the fans on the front row. This is one of the greatest things to hear! The more comments the better! When you come to the beetgarden, You better expect to be teased! We didn't even have a good student section... I just love to see parents cry about how their son got his feelings hurt... ITS HIGHSCHOOL BBALL!!! Calm down Parents! You don't even play! HAHA!

I loved it when the beet digger fans called one of the short judge memorial fans frotto! it was so funny!

who would write about Darger...other than his M and D...really let's see how he devlopes..right now he is taller than most freshman...that is it..

The new banner of the basketball team in the gym is amazing! Nice job Coach G! That banner is unreal!

honestly, its highschool basketball and the point of a student section is to bring support to your team. i sit in the student section at every friday game and never have i heard anything deragatory or more "offensive" than i have heard at any other highschool OR college basketball/football game. i bet anything if Judge and Riverton hadn't lost to us, there would be nothing about who was saying what. its nothing personal :] just some game rivalry and honestlty, if the parents/fans of the teams that are complaining about their boys getting their feelings hurt, would put this much effort towards their school and boys, maybe they would win. i think its classless that this many people are offended by some plainful rivalry. get over it.
