I went because Glenn Beck said the Murray High Choir
was going to be there.
The heading about sums it up. We already know what they are against, but what are they for?
As someone who has helped a disabled relative get medical care, a person is better off dealing with the Federal government than the state of Utah.
Utah is to business oriented and relies to much on "ask your Bishop".
Look how overweight those people in the pics are. They will need healthcare soon enough.
Wow, a rally of 5 people is news these days?
Ugh, Code Red folks, in yor flustering about and high minded jabbering, ever noticed that the middle class of this country has been stressed to the max and is threatened with extinction? The high cost of health care is one reason the this is NOT the fault ofthe government. It is the fault of the Corporations, and selfish executives who have BOUGHT OFF the politicos and have the 'free market' gamed for them only. Your Spouting about freedoms and liberty from 'big government' as music to the super-wealthy classes ears! They use this argument everytime they want to push for more power, or for lack of enforcement of current laws.. it's always the holy 'free market' .. never mind that what they are really doing is robbing us, our children and our grandchildren of wealth... so that they can pocket their Billions now... Google the "NEW GILDED AGE" for a bit of research, oh and Google Alan Greenspan's shocked reaction to the near collapse of the financial system, turns out, the system DOESNT SELF REGULATE, you need to enforce the laws-make it a FAIR free market, not a rigged system.
More chairs than people at this 'rally.'
'Utah conservatives rally against health care reform'
So, how are they going to FIX it?
All bills should be 5 pages double spaced please, in crayon - you can choose the color.
Are not just props for pro wrestling anymore. Or are they? Beckamania is running wild on you! Can you smell what Rep Frank has cooking?
It's all fake.
And this folks, is why everyone thinks Mormonism is a strange cult.
I'm so impressed. 0.002740803% of Utah's population was represented by these people.
It is easy for Carl Wimmer to talk - as a member of the Utah State Legislature - he gets healthcare insurance for life. And if you are a Utah taxpayer...you can't - but you will pay for Carl's. I think we need reform to have Carl Wimmer pay for his own healthcare like he wants you to.
Hey Cherilyn! Conducting a private poll with your relatives and at the local ward hardly constitutes what the rest of the state of Utah wants. Everyone knows that the state of the Health Care System is a mess...It's called "Health Care Reform" where are the wires getting crossed...it's there to help you and give you OPTIONS people!
The federal government is NOT always the ultimate of evil!
You drive on roads and enjoy a great interstate system due to fed gov.
you get power and water from large fed gov hydroelectic projects
Your grandparents likely survived the depression with help from the fed gov CCC and other make work programs.
Your parents and grandparents get soc security checks from the fed gov and keep them from being totally dependent on you
The fed gov provides funds to pay for the poorest, the insane, the ill to have a place to live and food to eat.
Your Grandparents get great medical care that is largely covered by the fed gov so you don't go broke paying for grandmas hospital stays
the fed gov provides a safe system that enables you to own property, start a business, and put your money into a bank w a guarantee that you won't be outright robbed.
the fed gov provides money for research,to allieviate starvation and suffering around the world.
and when you are old you will LOVE driving on the fed built road, in a safe car (fed safety rules) to dep your SS check
Way to stand up for the poor corporations and against your fellow man! How dare they attempt to take some of the profits away from the Health Insurance giants? All they want is to collect the premiums, raise the premiums, deny coverage to sick people, and drop anyone who actually gets sick. Naturally Wimmer wants to support that kind of corporate responsibility. We have some good representation in this player.
Just a small correction, Utah legislators DON'T get health insurance for life. Only while they are in office.
I think you are mixing up state legislators with national lawmakers. Federal officeholders (Congress and Senate) get health insurance for life, even after retiring or being voted out of office.
You might notice no solutions are proposed. Only rhetoric. Wimmer has a poor understanding of health care in general, his ignorance was on display last session in voting against a against a bill that would improve care and end of life planning for seniors. Large, unhealthy and careless in his approach, just who we should rally around. When it comes to a gentleman like Wimmer, just follow the money- it tells him how to vote on a regular basis.
They were well done.
Reform?
How can it be called reform to take a system that works quite well for 85% of Americans -- even works somewhat for the 15% that don't want to pay for it -- and waste trillions in taxpayer funds to make it work well for no one?
Not a one of us rallying is against reform.
We're against cynical political adventurism designed to remake our Nation into a sad, drab, ratty, perpetually Democratic welfare state.
