Anae's available...

Will someone please hire Anae before the bowl game. He'd do another program, like Navy or the Citadel, a world of offensive good. The cougars are just not good enough to handle his complex offensive schemes.

Here's what you do

Send Anae somewhere else, promote Coach Doman to O.C. and then bring in a stud like John Beck who's had a tough time in the NFL to come and be QB coach. That would be an amazing coaching change for BYU.

Anae is great!

Give me a break. Look at how potent the offense has been. The Cougars are lucky to have this guy! Go Cougs!

Same Story

Heard this same thing about Norm Chow years ago. Get rid of him, he is no good, blah, blah, blah. Too many armchair coaches on these blogs. That is where they should do their coaching, but keep quiet about it because they are embarrassing.

Nineties

Cougies complaining about Anae remind me of Cougie fan in the nineties. That Cougie fan would call in post game shows ripping on LaVell and Norm Chow. How did that Norm guy do at NC State and USC after you brilliant football minds ran him out of Provo? Let's see- Phillip Rivers, Carson Palmer, Matt Lienert- not too shabby. Anae has forgotten more football than any of you will ever know.

Besides, is it classy to wish bad things on another person?

Beaver Nation

Way to stick of for your team Bronco, GOOO BEAVS (side note for all you BYU fans... Bronco was a player and a coach at Oregon State University, he bleeds Orange and Black my friends). Let's go Beavers!!! We are pumped to show the nation that we belong in the top 10, and to start the Jaquiz Rodgers for Heismen in 2010 hype. Here we go brothers.

B Weaver

I agree with the Anae supporters. He has been great for the program and I hope he stays for a long time. Rest assured he could make alot more $$$ at many other schools as did Chow when he left. What is it going to take to make some people in cougarland happy? We all want to win the Conference every year and get into the BCS someday and compete for another NC, but 4 straight years of 10 plus wins is a record 90% or better of all other schools in the country would die for.

Football IQ

There are always a few in every crowd that expose themselves by opening their mouths (keyboard in this case).

Fans should be careful what they wish for, they just may get it. Anae was ranked by Rivals as the 14th best Offensive Coordinator in the country...seems that about where the Cougs are ranked nationally. It almost seems like there is a parallel. By the way, OC Kevin Wilson, at Oklahoma is ranked first.

Complex?

"Get rid of Anae because of his complex offensive schemes"??? Really? The beauty of this offense is the simplicity of it. This offense is based on a few fundamentals, that then have wrinkles within those concepts. But all in all, it's very simple, execution oriented, and that's one of the secrets of BYU's offensive success. It does no good to have really crazy and complex offenses if you can't execute.

"What is it going to take to make some people in cougarland happy?"

Run the ball on first down when you have a lead, the ball on your own 20, the top back in the conference and 4 minutes left in the game would be a good place to start making me happy.

Run the ball when you have first down inside the ten and the top running back in the conference.

Run the ball on more first downs so you have 2nd and short and a genuine chance to confuse the defense with a play-action pass.

Take advantage of your big offensive linemen and really big running backs and run the ball against lighter, faster teams.

Passing was BYU's competitive advantage during the Edwards years because no one was doing it, and BYU had smaller players and couldn't win by trying to play smash-mouth football. Now EVERYONE is passing the ball, and BYU has huge lineman and huge backs. Time to play to their strengths, not just copycat LaVell and Texas Tech.

Need more examples?

Good to see the the Cougs are preparing for their next bowl loss. Go BEAV'S!!

There are certainly times when Anae's play calling is way too predictable, but he's done a great job all things considered. I feel like BYU's coaching staff in general does a tremendous job under the circumstances. One or two coaches could be cherry picked from our program and we might be able to replace them with decent up and coming coaches, but it's not like BYU has hundreds of outstanding coaches lining up to make less money than other schools would pay and also have to deal with trying to succeed in an environment of missionary service and HC restrictions. People who are dissatisfied are the types of fans who think a 10 win season is below average. Look around the top-25 and tell me how many coaching staffs are putting up 10 wins. Darn few. We're very lucky as BYU fans, but some of us have no clue.

re: re: B Weaver

Yes! Remember you want BCS results with less than BCS caliber talent.

Yup, he bleeds orenge and black cause he coaches at BYU...

Give me a break!

Anae is great he has just made a couple little stupid decisions.

From a BYU fan

Keep Anae, lose Lamb

Anae is a great offensive coach. It's the defense that needs tweaking and the problems seem to come from an entrenched coach like Barry Lamb who should go elsewhere. Of course, the coaches coveted by other schools are the good ones, so Anae will probably get other offers, while Lamb will stay on and on and on--even though BYU would be better without him.

I can't remember. How badly did the Utes beat us? Oh, wait, BYU won the game. Maybe the coaches did something right afterall. Another problem you may not have noticed was that Unga was fumbling the ball. We lucked out several times in the rivalry game. The coaches aren't perfect, but they're a lot better than us.

Good to see Utah playing another weak opponent. Guess you have to feel good about yourself somehow. The only time you've played a motivated top ranked team...you got blown out! Keep padding your stats with cupcakes, the Cougs will do the real work.

Nice anticipatory spin.

After having his car egged, Jaime Hill will do anything to get out of Provo.

5 times

we should practice only 5 times this year.

@ Complex

That was a joke...just like this offense at times during this season. When hte offense has had success running from the power-I in the first half, they abandon it in the 2nd half (Utah game). At other times, they never even attempt to run the ball. There are far too many examples of how this offense disappears when the opportunity to put games away exists. Time for a change at OC. Give Doman a shot.

Yes, we won 10 games, but it could have been 13, or it very easily could have been 5. Think about it.
