I'll make it short and sweet

People don't trust politicians and almost everyone I know on both sides of the fence, from different places, different states, not even on the fence... ALL OF THEM don't trust their "leadership"

If politicians cared they could fix it but they don't care. If they really cared they would quit illegally taking "gifts" from lobbyists and outlaw the practice all together, even though the constitution already has outlawed bribery.

I am not trying to sound purely negative. I am only stating it how it is. Everyone I know really does hate the legislature (and no, I don't hang around deadbeats) - and most of them hate lobbyism with such a passion that it would scare you if they all crowded together on capital hill.

RE; I'll make it short and sweet

We live in the best managed state in the nation. Our politicians are doing something right. You ought to consider moving.

Instereo

Anyone that says "You ought to consider moving" as a response to eithics reform show why we need it. It's a classic line which has been used to justify slavery, religious bigotry, or any number of other "problems" modern society may have. It's an ignorant way of saying, we do things our way, we don't care if you view it as wrong, and we aren't going to change. People who say it are definatly part of the problem and not part of the solution.

To "Short and Sweet"

It's true, Utah is a well-managed state. But you're naive if you think it's the Legislature that does the managing. In nearly every instance, it's the professional government employees--and not the elected officials--who do the actual "managing." In my experience, at least half of our legislators are doofuses who couldn't manage their way out of a paper bag.

Thinking for myself

I just wish they'd quit calling it a 5 person INDEPENDENT panel. Anyone that thinks that would be the case hasn't read the initiative....It's no better than what's out there now, and potentially much worse.
