I promise and I always keep my word--usually....
Anyway, I give credit to Sloan and the "sloanaholics" tonight. Matthews could have been back on the bench, losing starting spot, lesser minutes due to CJ having last couple games good. Or he could not have played at all in effort to fit Korver back in and Price could have walked in and backed up DWIL.
Sloan could have done a number of things, but wisely kept the combination that worked for Orlando and not tonight.
It is an incredible compliment to Matthews he kept his spot despite all these returnees.
The way he played was emotional for me watching and his hunger and maturity is so refreshing for this organizationp a true shining light so far of the 09-10 season.
i meant, combinations in rotations that worked for Both Orlando and Tonight. It is encouraging watching Matthews. There were shots Kobe put up and Brewers Arm was practically in his face. Same for Wes.
These 2 played well together and seem to compliment the other's game.
Again, I cannot see how all these guys can play. It is hard enough now. Sloan seems determined to not have Price sit like last year, otherwise, his words seem shallow about his mistake not using him.
Kirilenko and Korver make big money, I cannot picture them sitting.
I agree this issue could be the most difficult in the NBA and Jerry will need to "coach like a Hall of Famer" to me to straighten this out.
Even I admit this is going to be a tough call.
Then again, it will likely work itself out if AK injury prone as he is goes down again for any little issue.
We`ve got 4 players at the 2/3 spots, 24 minutes each splits it up nicely,Korver,Miles,Brewer and Matthews,if one is hot he gets more minutes, same with the 4/5 spot,Boozer,Millsap,Memo and AK split the minutes,go with the hot hand,Boozer and Memo get 28/30 minutes, keep them fresh, with Williams and Maynor at the point,I really like this team but it`s going to be hard find minutes for Fes,Koufos and Price
its going to look like sloan is messing up the rotation when korver and ak come back, but the rotation doesn't have a backup center in it so its already messed up, sloan has an alternative but he can't figure it out, instead he expects his players to steal one every night, this road trip would be a good time to see what fez does, considering they'll continue to lose like that if they stay the way they are.
the jazz will continue to struggle with sloans smoke and mirrors and if they can't position themselves better the lakers will be the last team standing, and will be anyway, so it doesn't matter; but playing another big body against teams we've habitually lose could make a difference in those games.
It is clear, Mathews is one of Jerry's kids. When the Jazz hit outside shots they are realy hard to beat. They must always go inside out but when the ball go's out, they must hit the shot. Last night, Boozer 15 points, Jazz hitting outside shots.
Where is Fez ? must continue to get that guy minutes.
You have to keep playing Matthews and Maynor. They are young and their abilities fit into what we need. Price, Korver and Miles just need to be ready when they are called on. Make a trade Kevin!!!!!!!! This team as constructed isn't going to take a step forward. Too many 2's & 3's not enough legnth.
Sloan's choices aren't as complicated as it sounds. Keep the starters as is - this lineup has gone 11-4 over some very tough teams. Chemistry is so hard to develop and we finally have it. Sub AK and Miles for Brewer. Sub Korver for Matthews (and occasionally Price and Williams). Sub Price and Maynor for DWill. Give Brewer and DWill rest whenever we can, because there will always be games where we need them 35 to z40 minutes. But the focus always should be on winning, not getting people minutes.
that`s right pal,Matthews is one of "Jerry`s kids" a hard working young player, that plays the game right and gives it his all, that`s right dude,he`s one of Jerry`s kids
Trade Miles,Price and Harps contract for one lanky Marcus Camby type and we are there
Camby is a good thought. It would be better to get a tall lanky PF who can shoot and play D. Fez is the back up C of the future. The Jazz can get by at C for this year. They need a PF/C who can defend and score on Gasol/Odom.
No matter what the outcome of the games, the nay-sayers just keep posting.
I like the Jazz. I don't want Kobe, or Mello, or Lebron, or Garnett. I don't want Sheed or The Bird or either of the O'Neils or T-Mac. I could support Ron-Ron just because he once decked Jordan.
The Jazz have always gone after players with character. I will take that over a championship. I would not have wanted Jabbar or Walton or Rick Berry, despite their talent.
Maybe Boozer has said some things that were innapropriate but who hasn't? Including me? I like Boozer. Most people in the industry like Boozer. He is polite to rookies. WNBA players and coaches say he is very accommodating to them...and supportive. He has never been in jail; never accused of using drugs; and has kept his cool though all of the criticism.
