Great Game

How about Wesley Matthews in the first half and Ronnie Brewer in the second half?

Great game, not perfect, but I'll take it. Great team victory!!

Doug

Seemed as though Boozer played big tonight. Good he is here. Williams had to play hard all game but rookies did good when they got in. Good game Jerry.
Poor way to begin a road trip Phil.

The Players plays well

hard and smart. Congrats on a great win. Sloan also deserves some credit. He played some very interesting miss matches.

The Jazz won this from the outside, which is very hard to do. I thought Sloan was very innovative with his attack. He slashed when he could. He also played inside out. Fortunately the shots fell.

Gasol had 20 rebounds. Odom was negated by Mathews on offense but Mathews had problems with Artest. AK could have made a big difference.

I don't know if Fez would have made a difference but Sloan was able to win with a small ball, inside out/some slashing approach. It is different than the one HOU uses but it worked within the Sloan system pretty well.

Utah still struggles against LA's inside defense and can't stop Gasol nor Bynum if they are allowed to get in deep.

Great win. Great team effort. Excellent coaching by Sloan. I love to see LA, Phil Jackson and Kobe LOSE.

Now if the Jazz can win on the road. They jump HOU and POR in the standings. They are still 2.5 back of DEN in the division.

Keep winning.

I thought the Jazz did great on defense this game!

CL

Great game by Mathews & Brewer. As expected by DWill & Booz, Poor game by CJ, he looked overmatched by Artest, he looked soft and slow & not into the game. I keep hoping CJ will mature and step up his game but he continues to have these kind of games where he does't play hard enough, doen't move, stands around & plays soft D.
Come on CJ play up to your potential.
Mathews & Brewer show they want to compete and they get tough. CJ not to often.

Houdini

Ironic that yesterday koby`s finger was "no problem" but today(since they lost) he "just didn`t quite have it" might have had something to do with Matthews and Brewers defense on the glory hog?

It's the GREEN uniforms

We play better dressed like leprechauns!

Bynum was kept out of play in the 2nd half by Boozer. I also noticed Booz wasn't credited for a block on Pau Gasol in the 1st half, 2nd quarter I believe it was, on the right baseline.

If Carlos hadn't had foul trouble late in the game he might've gotten a triple-double. His passing is among the best of the bigs in the league.

D Will took over this game like a leader, too.

Matthews in the 1st half, Ronnie B in the 2nd. That's great role play.

Jazz shared the ball like, well, like the Celtics team that beat em up so bad. 6 players in double figures, 6 with at least 3 rebs, and none with more than 13 FGA's. The Jazz just went 3-1 in the toughest week any team has faced this season!

Lakers HAD the best defense in the league, til tonight.

Second time in as many years that the Jazz have halted an LA win streak.

SLC; Where Lakers' win streaks go to die!

CJ did not

have a great night but Brewer and Mathews did. The Jazz have quality depth at 2/3. They can afford to have a player have an off night.

CJ came thru big against ORL. The key is Sloan playing the hot hands and best match ups/combos.

If the Jazz just had a little more depth at C/PF they would be an elite team.

The length of LA hurt the inside game tonight. Gasol also got 20 rebounds. The Jazz need a tall quality big to beat LA consistently.

However, Sloan's approach worked. He actually came up with an inside out game plan and the shots fell. LA refused to guard Brewer and he made them pay.

Gasol, Bynum and Artest were able to go inside. There needs to be some defensive adjustments to try to keep Gasol and Bynum from getting position. If they get the ball in deep it is 2 or 3 points.

I think AK could have stopped Artest.

Nice win.

Yes I know, it is a back to back, Kobe is sick and has a broken finger. On the other hand the Jazz are missing AK and Korver.

Nice win.

Houdini right again. I watched Hot Rod doing color on KCAL. There were so many times he started calling play by action off a miss free throw or after the ball would be inbounded, before he forgot it was Joel Meyers Job!

translation-he misses it---badly,. Come to your own conclusions.

Tonight, was as good of a "48 minute effort" I have seen this entire season.

Yes, lakers (fakers) 3rd game in 4 nights. The Jazz tonight played with a tempo, a confidence, and did not tense up on Laker runs. The only time i noticed it when it was 4th quarter and the Lakers cut a 17 point lead down to like 10 or 11 and we got conservative and standing around.

However. A great team win. Jerry eliminated the chemistry issue not playing AK or Korver.

I thought defensively, Brewer and Matthews did not give a lot of room and played hard on him and Brew got that steal under the basket. DWIL was outstanding. Matthews hit those shots early giving all confidence. Milli also. Okur played defense at times. Boozer did best he could on bigger Bynum.

CJ tonight! More like CJ we all know.

Kobe and Lebron both taking acting class. Just poor students .obvious!

kobe's finger

I didn't get to see the game, but I hope someone was swiping at the ball whenever Kobe touched it. I won't lose any sleep if Kobe's finger is sore for a week from this game.

The Jazz came ready to play. If this team could ever take this energy on the road it would be a very interesting team.

I do not see why the Jazz cannot go (3-2) on this trip. Winning in New Joisey, Charlotte and either Atlanta or Miami are all doable.

Tonight watching Brewer and Matthews did a tremendous job and Kobe took a lot of those 20 foot plus shots just firing blanks.

The Jazz played at a high level. The Lakers came out hot early and after The Jazz matched them point for point got out of the quarter even, I felt good about the way this was going to go.

Even if the Lakers brought more energey and A game tonight after 3rd game in 4, I still think the Jazz would have a squeezed out a very close win.

Minnesota is next. As I stated last week, bad teams beating the Jazz do "nothing afterwards"

Since Beating us, Minnesota is a "robust" (0-4)

Have a good weekend.

Chuck thanks for emailing me back...

By the way, do not expect to see Koustos again-

FEZ.. unlikely.

Fez could have got 10 minutes tonight...

Sorry to see LAL lose?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Phil has how many championship rings? Ten? How many would he have if Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan didn't play basketball. Give those players to Jerry Sloan and he would have at least 10 rings. Sloan is my Coach of the Year every year. Keep doing it right, Jerry.

Bob2

Hmm. Wins against San Antonio, Orlando and the Lakers. If the Jazz can keep their intensity, beat Minn and then destroy the Nets and Bobcats and hopefully one of either the Hawks or the Heat I will be a happy Christmas boy and the naysayers and bandwagon jumper offers will get little lumps of coal in their stockings. Oh, and people will be calling them one of the best teams in the league. Baby steps first though--lets beat up on some lousy teams!!!!

Re: Anonymous

Jerry had the greatest point guard and power forward of all time together for how long...and never one a championship. It's not right to compare Jackson and Sloan....it's not even close. The fact is people don't care about the regular season, it's the post-season that matters and Sloan has clearly demonstrated an inability to perform when it matters.

This just shows...

...that the real power in the NBA is in the east. West teams are soft.

Incredible

Dear Deseret News,

Please hire me to write Jazz articles or at least to edit them. There were about four mistakes in this short piece without even reading with a critical eye. I love reading Jazz articles but this sure is distracting.

Jazz Cop

I swore i thoughtfez had played, so i wasn't surprised the jazz won. booz only had twelve points, he needs to go off on the trip, and fez needs to play too, or its going to be same old jazz; negate their advantage in the standings by losing on the road, to teams they would beat at home, but its because of slaon, the rotation isn't round enough, sloan likes squeeking by and because of it, the jazz will probably be .500 at best. Its just another opportunity that sloan will burn, its on sloan if he can't find a way to get a backup center into the game for at least a few minutes, he'd gave jcollins minutes, collins had about five good minutes last year and that was it, fesenkos athleticism makes up for his mistakes, while jcs lack of athleticism was worse on the court than fesenkos mistakes.
