Emery is an athletic freak of nature. I remember his freshman year, he was taking off on a fast break and went up for a dunk... I thought he was totally going to get rim checked, but he slammed it in with two hands.
I love watching him play--he's all over the court, as well as the guy he's guarding.
If you think this Emery is good wait until his little brother gets to college. The kid is in 9th grade and the starting point guard for Lone Peak one of the best programs in the state. Two games into the season he is averaging about 18 points. Coach Rose is already in the crowd watching his games. This kid is going to be a great one. If you get a chance to go to a LP game; make the effort. He is worth the price of admission. The LP QB Tannon Pedersen is the starting two guard and averages about 18 or 19 points per game as well.
I don't think any coach in the conference can honestly say that they wouldn't want this guy on their team. He hits big shot after big shot even with fredette and tavernari throwing up garbage night in and night out. I see a little bit of him in haws. Haws definitely isn't as quick or as seasoned, but watch haws every possession crash the boards. As for nick emery, he could be something special let's see in three years.
Go cougs
In my opinion, yes. Right now he's the best player in the MWC.
J-Fred is still "the man" on this team. But he and J-Tav need to bring their A game every night, like Ems.
actually i have watched several of the BYU games and Haws is very much quicker than Emery. Haws actually had just as many hustle plays if not more than Emery vs. AZ state. Haws had a double double...overall was the MVP of the game too IMHO. Emery is great but Haws is going to be better year for year. and Emery's little brother is going to be a good one. Coach Rose is building a program and that is why JT and Jimmer need to "direct" the team and not try to shoulder the team by themselves with wild shots and unorthodox play. there will be games where they end up shouldering the team but they need not force that type of play on themselves if it is not needed.
I just hope the refs don't keep calling ticky-tack fouls to send him to the bench. By the way was there a foul called on Wesley for the elbow he gave Emery?
Jackson is playing phenomenally. His agression keeps the team going in any aspect. If the team needs points, he gets them. If they need steals, he gets them. And he's always playing perfect text book defense.
Emery plays the game it is meant to be played. The kid is fun to watch!
Put that guy on the football team playing receiver or safety
What an amazing bball player and if you know him he is even more of an amazing person. Takes such good care of the younger guys on the team and is a true leader.. on and off the court! Keep it up Jackson
Good article, good job Emery and Haws. JT is trying to impress the pro scouts and is bombing his way out of being drafted. Jimmer is having downs, just like many great players from other colleges have had. He will get out of it.
Whatever happened to Haw's cousin Jake Kuresa?
Not sure what game you are watching, Haws isn't even close to Emery when it comes to quickness. Both are great players and better people
need to stop throwing up garbage and give the rock to Jackson and Haws. Cougar shooting percentage would go up drastically. Great hustle, Emery! You're fun to watch.
Kuresa is an Asst Coach at one of the local High Schools, Mountain Crest maybe?
