Cal is a flaky team. Great one week, putred the next.
BTW, how 'bout them Broncos!!
Utah gets a team that was just blown out 10-42 by the 7th-place team in the PAC 10, Washington (5-7).
The Utes shouldn't have any trouble getting another bowl win over another mediocre opponent.
btw, California lost at home 14-31 to BYU's bowl opponent, Oregon State.
easy win for Utah
Yes, Anonymous you predicted an easy win for Utah over BYU. Guess your glass looking ball is not working too well. You may have to polish it up a whole lot more.
I do hope Utah wins and all of the MWC teams playing in a Bowl game. That will bring prestige to the MWC.
One thing most fans are not aware about is that the conferences making up the BCS is looked at every 4 years. (This was a little tweak the BCS glory hogs changed to keep Congress off their back)
If the MWC can win all of their bowl games it gives it a chance to replace one of the lower echelon BCS conferences. We need to be rooting for each other, not belittling each other.
Utah fans are pushovers, gloating about their mighty U winning alabama
IS cal even ranked!?
the team with the national rep gets the nod of the also ran. Cougs get a qaulity opponent, who was one play away from playing in the bcs and the utes play a team who just got smacked by one of the worse teams in the country. Way to go utes, go pad the bowl victory streak. LOL
Do you really think that nobody else knows this??
From the sound of it I would guess that you are a coog fan - which would mean that you don't know anything about the BCS. But thanks for the lesson.
I will cheer for every MWC team except for the y - why?? because Max Hall hates me and I'm proud!!
Go Utes!!! extend that bowl winning streak.
and go Beavers!!!
I would like to thank Utah for getting BAMA ready for the run this season. The best thing happen last year when Utah beat BAMA, Saban went to work to better defend the spead. Now college football is back the way it should be, two great teams Texas and BAMA for the national championships enough said. So good luck in your bowl and again thanks.
With Best in the game, he'd run all over the team. Don't know why an article would wish for him to return. Cal is really quick, Best is quicker. I didn't see Cal play much, but when I did, they were so quick and made guys miss.
From a die hard, true-blue, BYU fan, I say "Go Utes!" I hope you have a great game, bet Cal and continue to represent the MWC.
Good luck!
I hate the utes. Always have, always will. Their streak ends this year. And you can stop with your "holier than thou" attitude pretending you dont feel the same way about us that Max Hall described. Stop being hypocrites utes.
to "hope you lose"
We can tell by your commenet that you hate the U more than you like the Y.
Come one dude... YOU'RE THE PROBLEM! Fix yourself because that the only part of the situation that you have control over anyway.
I really don't think most BYU fans "hate" Utah or Utah fans. What BYU fans actually "hate" is that the Utah football program has achieved "on the field" in very high-profile and national ways (the nations longest bowl winning streak, multiple MWC championships, two undefeated seasons, two BCS games, two BCS victories, beat-down of Alabama in the Sugar Bowl, etc), while BYU's program has consistently underachieved (Vegas Bowl, Vegas Bowl, Vegas Bowl, Vegas Bowl loss to Arizona. Ouch!) and is left to harken-back to the '84 "National Championship" year, and that exciting (not) win against a 6 and 5 Michigan team.
Ok first of all the MWC conference would not replace any bcs conference in the BCS, the would be added to the big 6. Second of all the difference in teams from the poinsettia bowl and las vegas bowl are not that big of a difference for BYU to claim they have the harder team which is why they lose. BYU would be one or two spots better than Utah playing a team that is 1 or 2 spots better than Utah's opponent, you are playing conference champions in that bowl. Third obviously every single one of you BYU fans who just posted are more concerned about talking smack about Utah than being BYU fans. Why don't you take pride in your team rather than making your team and fans look hypocritical and "classless".
I find it amusing that BYU fans (after complaining for an entire year) now try to say how much better the Vegas Bowl is than the Poinsettia Bowl. I would have to say that they are basically mirrors of each other. If I remember correctly Cal was a top ten team at one time and I am quite sure both Cal and OSU have very comparable records. So BYU fans, the Utes will take the "lesser bowl" this year. Of course we know we will be in another BCS Bowl game in two to three years while BYU will be relegated to the Prestigious/Terrible (depending on the year or your pathetic justifications) Las Vegas Bowl. The plus side is BYU can have their own record; Getting invited to the same bowl for 10 years in a row!!!
Oh yeah, WE LOVE YOU MAX!!
For the second time in 3 years, the yewts gets another bowl cupcake!
Let's face it. The LV bowl committee picked BYU because they felt the Cougars were the BEST team over the EWES!!!
Best team in the MWC are the Frogs!!
I guess at least Utah beats the cupcakes they get in bowl games! 8 straight and counting. Including wins over Pitt, Alabama and Tulsa team that beat BYU.
Cal 2009 - 8-4 before bowl. 5-4 Pac-10. Wins over ranked Stanford and Arizona.
Arizona 2008 - 7-5 before bowl. 5-4 Pac-10. No real impressive wins.
And with the Pac-10 being so much better this year, that 5-4 record for Cal shows a good team. Not like the cupcake that BYU got whipped by last year in Vegas.
FYI - Cal beat Stanford by 10, who beat USC by 20, who beat Oregon State by 6. So what's your point?
BYU should try beating the cupcakes they get in bowl games and they might actually put together a bowl winning streak.
No, but they have the same conference record in a much better conference this year than Arizona had last year.
How'd that game go for BYU?
An article about UTAH brings out all the haters from b-yner-u.
HATERS love to marginalize the success of those they hate.
Will UTAH beat CAL?
Who knows?
BTW:
OSU is well aware of the fact that certain b-yner-u players have no respect for anyone they play.
Here's hoping that OSU hands out a healthy dose of "learn to respect your opposition" to those certain b-yner-u players mentioned above.
Talofa
Wake up an smell the coffee Utah fans...
Cal got BLOWN OUT in every one of their losses this season:
at Oregon 3-42 (-39)
USC 3-30 (-27)
OSU 14-31 (-17)
at Wash 10-42 (-32)
Cal lost 2 of their final 4 games, including a 32-point loss to a team with a losing record.
Cal is unranked and mediocre, at best.
Oregon State is Top 20 and a team that just barely missed going to the Rose Bowl.
Any Utah fan who thinks that the Beavers are only slightly better than the Bears is seriously delusional.
