Brother Dave

Thank You President Monson for a Great Christmas
Message. Thanks also to Presidents Eyring and
Ucthdorf for their Great Measages too. And of
course, Thanks to the Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra
for their Great Performances.

Truly a Good Way to Celebrate the Christmas Season!!

May we all be More Charitable and Focus on the Reason
for the Season, Jesus Christ and His Birth and Mission.

Brady

An excellent reminder of the true reason for the Christmas season.

All I want for Christmas

All I want for Christmas is a good health care bill. From either party - I don't care as long as it fixes the cruelties of our current system.

Wish they'd picked a smiley pic

Worth a read.

They really got some flattering photos didn't they?

All I Want for Christmas

is NO health care bill, or any other bill that stomps all over the US constitution.

Robert Oh

Happy Holidays!

Kathleen

Robert Oh..... surely you meant to say Merry Christmas...right?

Re:Kathleen | 8:26 a.m. Dec. 7,

Why do you ask?

I'll say it

Merry Christmas!!

Wow - the cost of the ornaments on just one of those trees could have fed some poor starving child in Africa for a year!

@ Anonymous 10:4 am: So would the cost of your computer and internet subscription. Pay up or shut your pie hole.

the cost of your computer you're typing on could have as well

I tried to go once

I went on the computer. I tried to get a ticket to go see one of these. Do you have to have a high calling or know somebody? I can never get a ticket for myself or my children still at home. So, we have just given up trying. Did anybody who attended think to offer your ticket to a single person, a single parent, a widow? Yes, I could have just watched it on T.V. No. I only get the angle from what the camera man wants me to perceive. But, it seems these people do not practice what they preach. If you want to teach people to see the light...you don't put up so many lights that the people are blinded. You don't say you are the" only" true church. You don't state that you have all the answers for everybody. What should one purchase this season? Nothing. Service and kindness all year will be the greatest gift to give.Happy Hanuka this weekend to my gay son living in Boston. As you light the candles, I will also think of you. Love mom

Good thing the Church spends millions helping those starving poor children in Africa that you speak of.

sad but true

You know at the risk of legitimizing anon there was an interesting story the other day about a small Baptist church in Conn. that is selling the stain glass window in its chapel so they do not have to close down the homeless program they run which is a striking contrast to the LDS church and it enormous displays of wealth. I am not a biblical scholar so and instead choose to use my time to serve others so forgive me if I do not get the quote exact but this all kind of reminds me of when Jesus said, they draw close to me with their mouths yet their hearts stay far from me. Again I know that is not the exact quote but the point does not change.

Jon W.

Meanwhile in Salt Lake City, the LDS Church furnishes almost all the labor (volunteer) and most of the food for the local homeless shelters, no matter what organization or religion has their name on the building. And, it still has enough left over to light up Temple Square for the enjoyment of thousands. This is due to the faithful tithe paying and spirit of service by individual members who take what Pres. Monson and others with "high callings" say to heart.

To you tried to go once. You go online fill out the form and then your names go in for a drawing, raffle. That's how I got my tickets. Tried for others but didn't get any.
Sad but true- The Church has one of the best if not the best humanitarian services around. Leaders from around the world come to study it.

nryount

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints spends MILLIONS of dollars every year in providing aid in every disaster that happens world-wide. We don't have to apologize to anyone about the cost of the Christmas ornaments on our trees. We not only take care of the needs of our own, but also anyone else in need.

silly

Manson states that some “fear…opposition from those with differing religious views.” I know it’s a small thing but it is these small things that overwhelm an otherwise nice message. I find it disheartening that people of any faith feel that someone having a different point of view about the holidays is somehow a direct threat to them and their beliefs, why does it matter if someone says happy holidays or marry Christmas differences are nothing to be feared and terms like happy holidays re only meant to show respect for other beliefs.
