Interesting

Somebody may eventually break JTs record for 3s made. But NOBODY will bread his record for 3s TAKEN and MISSED.

Congrats JT.

Harmon was right...gunnner

i agree...he is a gunner. I personally feel that the team would do better without him. I don't like his game at all. He takes a lot of horrible shots and i fault Rose for not curtailing it. They let him do anything he wants and I dont know why. He is marginal at best and WILL not play at the next level.

He's got the right goal

I think he's doing just what his coach is asking him to do. And his focus on a championship is exactly where it should be. He'll warm up and silence the critics.

Interesting comments considering that he took fewer shots to get to the record that Bigelow took setting the record. I don't remember similar complaints about Bigelow.

jim, cedar city

if he plays within his abilities, he helps the team. but for my thinking he takes to many three's he do not set up for. that's where coaching comes in.

It's not the # of shots,

It's the # of bad shots this guy takes. He takes off balance shots. He ruins momentum with bad 3 point misses. It's his shot selection that is terrible. I can't believe he thinks he is going to play in the NBA. I don't think the WNBA would draft him.

JT

The reason nobody complained about Bigelow is that he took his shots in the flow of the game. Tavernari has got a wide open shot from the free throw line, and he dribbles back and fires a fadeaway three

Talent without the team

I look forward to Tavenari graduating. He is a talented athlete, but he doesn't play within the context of the game. Tavenari kills team momentum by missing bad 3's instead of continuing the momentum with a made 2. The bench is a good place for Tavenari to start. If he comes in and doesn't play within the team strategy, put him back on the bench.

Congrats JT!

I am blown away by how critical everyone is of the player who has been an essential part of 3 (soon to be 4) consecutive championships. JT is a phenomenal player and could use some real support instead of being kicked while he's down. You're all going to eat your words when he lights it up in conference play (and of course that's when his haters will be cheering the loudest) - way too many bandwagon fans at the Y.

Re: Talent without the team

I agree. Tavernari can say the right things but he plays selfish. I blame coaching. Maybe things like this is why we never win big games.

I'll say it again: Bottom line: He shoots a better 3 point percentage than Bigelow did and we loved Bigelow. The fact that some of you (are you Utes?) don't like his shot selection doesn't change the fact that he makes a good percentage of them and has outright won a lot of games for us. BYU fans, give him some support; Ute trolls comment on your own stories.

re: Anonymous

HaHaHa! You know not what you say. Stats are for losers. Tavernari has no basketball IQ and neither do you! We aren't kicking Tav when he's down from 'missing a few shots', we're kicking Tav for playing famously self-centered. Bigelow and Tav both played basketball, shot a lot of 3's, and played for the Y. That is about all they have in common. The chap has a whacked game and the fellas in suits (aka coaches) sprinkle sugar and pixie dust around this black hole.
