I have to admit. I am glad it died. The article makes light of the fact that it escaped MORE THAN ONCE! I do not care what the owner says, these things WILL and have killed small children when they escape. If someone owns one of these things, and it gets loose, it should be a felony, and the snake should be taken from them period.

I love this story! I was terrified as snakes as a child. Mainly, because I drowned one when I was 9 and accidentally killed it and for years, I couldn't touch one. One day, I was convinced by my friend who loves snakes to try adopting a corn snake from the breeder. He took me there and I chose one the size of my pinky.

After knowing her, I could never see snakes the same again. I loved to allow children to play with her too. She was very gentle and loved to kiss them with her tiny forked tongue. I got over my fear of snakes and so I sympathize both with the snake species and the owner of Julius Squeezer! Awesome story! :)

I laughed at the names that were given to the snakes, such clever names. I think snakes are something that one has to get used to, I would like to own a big boa or python, but then again...maybe not.

Nobody should own one of these exotic creatures. Too many are now loose in Florida because people can't handle them and are becoming a menace. Several were found swallowing gators only to explode!

Well

Too bad he didn't turn the hide into some cowboy boots.

GMAN

Yep, and dogs never hurt anyone and never get out and cause problems. Nobody should own them either.

oh chill out bob & phil...

sorry for your loss mr. bone, she was obviously a very special and beloved pet.

The Dude slept with the snake. Ewwwwwwwwwww!!!!

There are many spineless creatures that roam the roads of Utah. Too bad Julius Sqeezer only tried to escape a few times in its slithering life. Wild snakes belong in the jungle. However, so do some humans.

Flags should fly at half-mast for this sad event. I am in deep mourning.....A few more mice will be given amnesty and live a little bit longer now.

Snake Man Dave

An amazing longevity record! I'm sorry for the loss of such a beautiful creature, and I thank Mr. Bone for using her as a positive introduction to snakes for people who may have had misperceptions about these incredible animals. I have been a snake advocate and educator most of my life, and I have seen the light go on in people who once held onto very real but entirely unnecessary phobias about snakes, once they able to replace fear with facts.

I have a Pueblan Milk Snake named Bam Bam that is approaching 21 years of age. I don't know if it's a record, but he's been a great teacher, especially for children to learn from. I hope to have him for many more years. Condolences on your loss.

Accidents waiting to happen

Non-domesticated animals should always be worrisome, just ask the lady in NY that had the monkey claw her face off... This guy was very lucky that 43 years passed and no major incidents happened.

I'm simply devastated that this snake, Julius Sqeezer has died. I always though Julius was a yellow snake and I don't know why? Sorry, for the lost of your squeezer friend. very sad indeed.

SLH

My companion animals are members of my family, and life wouldn't be so joyful without them. I'm sorry for your loss, Mr. Bone. Julius was a true friend to you.

neighbor in fear

"This guy was very lucky that 43 years passed and no major incidents happened."

Thats funny because he left out all the near misses he had over the year.
It tried to eat him a few years back.He has to scaled it with hot water for it to release him..
did he mention the 30 baby 4 ft snakes he also has living free in the house.
Wheres animal control?
In fear my kids will be next. Wonder why there are no stray dogs/cats running around

Who Care's

Bone's Holliday neighbors ought to be furious.
Don't they know these serpents Eat dogs & cats -and kill children. The Law and Animal Services should be all over this one!!!!

So SAD

Yes, neighbor, Your pets who have run lose for years that have showered the neighborhood have been tasty meals for old Julius. I'm afraid now though, that our neighborhood lawns and gardens will start showing signs of toiletry from free running doggy's and kitty's. Squeezer did his part as a good snake to keep up the neighborhood from free roaming dog poopers, but saddly has moved on now to snake heaven. True, now we may truly after so many years have a real reason to call animal control.

dEAD

THE ONLY GOOD SNAKE IS A DEAD ONE

so sad

What a shame..
A shame that they are not made into boots

Where's PETA?

LEAVE THE SNAKE ALONE! I agree the snake looks like he has lived a good snake life and has been well fed. Occasional fur-balls that have been regurgitated are no problem when cleaning up after a snake.
